A true jewel. A fun, entertaining and very complete game, almost unlimited in duration and with great visual. Can be considered a must-have for iOS.

With some elbow grease and a good once over, Spellsword could easily earn a permanent spot on my iPhone. It's really that good.

Some might be quick to call games like Spellsword a copycat, but when a game improves on its inspiration in just about every way imaginable like Spellsword does, it's hard to justify such labels. While Super Crate Box may have invented the formula, Spellsword elevates it to the next level. Fans of SCB, consider yourself warned – you have your new addiction.

The RPG elements are light enough that they aren't overwhelming, yet compelling enough to be engaging. It's a definite must-play for fans of action-RPGs, and for those looking for a twist on the Super Crate Box formula.

Spellsword is beautiful, frantic, addictive, satisfying, explosive and, oh my goodness I think I've run out of superlatives. A spiritual successor to Super Crate Box it may well be, but only in its most fundamental concepts. When we all start thinking about our Game of the Year this December, I can only hope to have enjoyed some serious competition to this extraordinary title.

Spellsword delivers a solid, fun action platform experience, packed with tons of items and power-ups to unlock, some nice 16-bit style graphics and plenty of challenge.

If Spellsword's enemies are disappointingly generic, there's a tactile joy in dispatching them: slimes and bats explode messily as blasts of wind launch them into walls, and it's possible to enjoy a brief game of swingball with the laser-shooting eyes that dangle elastically from the ceiling.

Spellsword is a wonderful new take on the arena-based platforming formula we've seen before and feels incredibly well-polished, balancing its mechanics to provide plenty of opportunities for skillful play and strategic thinking.

Spellsword is a well made hack-'n-slasher, perfect for gamers who love a nice grind.

Tough in most of the right places, Spellsword might miss a few tricks, but it's core gameplay is solid enough to keep you playing regardless.

At a buck, Spellsword is a steal, ideal for hack-and-slash RPG fans and high score addicts. The team behind Spellsword might have started with Super Crate Box as their inspiration, but thankfully, they knew when to split off and do their own thing. They've created a game with an entirely different look, feel and play from their influences.
