The ways in which TownCraft subtly nudges players in a certain direction is a great way of allowing creativity to flourish while still providing targets and a traditional sense of challenge.
TownCraft is now a universal app, and assembling a personal little town is as engaging as ever.
The beginning of a really good crafting game is right here. It’s unpolished in places, and it could really do with some sort of social interaction/sharing, but its simplicity makes for a good introduction to the genre. It’s rewarding, if a little grindy in its initial few hours, but crafting fanatics will lap this up.
Players in it for the long haul have the ability to create a vibrant mini-ecosystem provided they’re not discouraged by the monstrous UI and lack of online capabilities.
An impressive debut from developer Flat Earth Games, TownCraft is a robust package that will have you happily sinking countless hours into building your own world without ever realising it.
The sort of game for which the journalistic cliché “hidden gem” was invented.
A charming building game that's full of potential. The core systems and menus are just too much like hard work for all but the most dedicated of virtual grafters, though.
