This game feels like a lot of missed opportunities, really. A lot more could have been done, and could still be done, in order to make this game live up to its hyper-colorful, action-packed experience.
Violet Storm aims to shift the focus of the twin-stick shooter from being a fragile, yet powerful ship to something more brutal and thuggish, but its novelty wears off quickly without any real threats or changes in the gameplay.
The over-the-top weapons and graphical effects look great, but even those aren't implemented perfectly. Regardless, outside of those features you're still left with a competent arcade dual-stick shooter.
