Hercules is a great quest adventure game, but it has been dwarfed by the previous two releases of the Zelda quest series.
If you like your N64 titles simple and charming, and can live without strategic game play or thoughtful graphics and sound, than this scaled-back version of the TV show is right up your alley.

This game defines the very essence of Hercules and his biceps of power. Become immersed in his glutes and enjoy the adventure of his delts as you travel the lands of the most clever and creative names your mind has ever encountered. And his companions are also my favorite. If you consider yourself Hercules incarnate this game will please you.

An unfairly treated piece of gold in the 64 library. Comparison doesn't seem like a valid form of critique - what does another game have to do with this one? The environments are lush, colourful and often mesmerizing to observe. If you allow yourself to be entertained and prevent yourself from wanting it to be something else, this is quite an enjoyable experience with just a few things that seem missing.

This aspect aside, the game has a typical "walk about, search for keys, flip a switch, search for power-ups" feel that never seems to pull any major punches. If you've got nothing better to do, consider renting it.
Fans of the show or Greek mythology will enjoy controlling the familiar characters. Hercules isn't godly, but as a whole it's a decent adventure.
We're left with an adventure that is decidedly mediocre, if not blatantly substandard, and the end result tends to induce boredom rather than anything else.
The son of Zeus should not be dropped into the most generic and bland series of environments that make the hellish pit of New Jersey seem as diverse as the Amazon rain forest.
It's a decent game that follows the tv show franchise, although it looks suspiciously similar to the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. The controls, layout, and even the first scene looks almost identical.
