Apr 16, 2013I love strategy games and I love fast paced action games. This combines them both into a nonstop shooter where you fly mechs that transform into airplanes/helicopters/ufo's. This game took me away from SC2 and hasn't let go for almost a year AND ITS STILL IN BETA TESTING. Build tanks, create armies, lots of freedom to play your own way and still win. Multiplayer is definitely the meat of this game. Delicious, mouth watering PvP action.… Expand
Apr 16, 2013I don't wanna talk about the game itself so much as my experience playing it.
This game is holding me captive for almost a full year now. I used to be SC fan, played all sorts of shooter games as well. AirMech is simply tailored to satisfy all my gaming appetites.
There is no middle ground. You will eather get totally addicted or simply ignore this one.
Ignoring it would mean not giving it a shot.
Great community, lots of events, giveaways, streamers are just another thing that make this game even more awesome.
I recommend everyone to give it a shot. It's not P2W kind of game, so no worries.… Expand
Dec 20, 2012AirMech is an amazing game that has an awe inspiring experience each game you play. There are many game styles and build orders, strategies, and each and every one is a completely new experience. AirMech, in most players opinions, is a mixture of Dota and Command and Conquer, and both are easily seen. AirMech is also a remake of the old SEGA game Herzog Zwei, a game where the AI's were much harder. This is an amazing game that everyone should try out at least once and the small community could use a real boost.… Expand
Dec 30, 2012AirMech is undoubtably inspired by the DOTA/MOBA crowd(we can pleasurably call it a crowd now) of games. The premise is that you control a single robot that can attack both in air an don the ground, and has the purpose of protecting ground assets aimed at controlled a battlefield and destroying your opponent's HQ. Original? Well, not so much. Fun, though? Yes. This game belies its heritage by providing not just strategy but also action in the form of twin-stick shooter aethetics and controls, and also giving the player a bevy of options to either have more individual firepower or the ability to change the battlefield in the form of carrying power. As a member of the beta team, I can't speak to the pay-for-play nature(most of the cool stuff was included for us beta players) of these battles except to say that very few of the options affect actual battle power; skill trumps luck here, every time. The graphics are adequate to good and the controls precise. Notably, the transformation graphics for the mechs are very nice, on par with various animes and other games out there. Try it out, if the F2P otpions don't excite you, most likely the rest of the game won't. The excitement of each battle really is hair-raising, and the learning curve is complemented by the ample bot training provided, so if you like action games or strategy, this really is the game for you.… Expand
Dec 20, 2012Airmech is a moba type game where you play a robot that also transforms into a plane. The main problem in it is that the control mechanics are cumbersome and the build mechanics detract from gameplay , since you have to pick up the created units with your plane, and drop them somwhere. It is basically a RTS where instead of clicking units and giving them orders you pick them up with your avatar (which you control with the mouse) and drop them somewhere. While this might be fun for some people, I say why not cut the intermediary and either move to a proper RTS game or move to a DOTA type game.… Expand
Sep 14, 2014The game used to be fun and engaging. Then they hit it with the Console brush and ruined it. Carbon Games is not worth supporting in the future since they will sell you out after you have invested in the product.
To begin with they removed the option to do survival options with just your group of 3 friends. Instead they saddle you with someone else randomly.
They changed the UI to be less intuitive with a focus on console gamers and the cluster set up required when dealing with a console.
They have made numerous balancing changes and models. What they have not a cluster of aspects of all of them. It does not work so well.
Bottom line is to not support carbon games. A dead company is better than a trashy one that sucks up your money.… Expand
Nov 19, 2013Single Player/Multi Player (1/2) (If the single player is better than the multiplayer, review this section as if it had no multplayer) (If the multiplayer is better than the multiplayer, review this section as if it had no single player) Gameplay (2/2) Visuals/Story (1/2) (If the visuals are better than the story, review this section as if it had no story) (If the story is better than the visuals, review this section as if the visuals didn’t matter)
(Review this section only on Accessibility if the game has no longevity) (Review this section only on longevity if the game isn’t accessible)
This is a guideline for how to properly review games. Many reviewers like to get a “feel” for a game, and arbitrarily give a game a score that they believe it deserves. This results in wildly different scores between different reviewers, and vastly different scores between similar games. This guideline addresses these problems and scores games fairly and consistently. This guideline also gives scores that are usually similar to the metacritic score.
The review score is based out of 10 points. There are no “half” or 0.5 increments. It is impossible to have a score above 10 or below 0. The review score will change as the game gets new dlc, drops in price, or if more secrets are found through the game increasing its appeal.
The scoring is split into 6 sections. The first five sections can add a possible 2 points to the final score. The first 5 sections are Single Player/Multi Player, Gameplay, Visuals/Story, Accessibility/Longevity, and Pricing.
Notice that 3 of these sections have two parts. These particular sections will be scored based on the stronger part of the game of the two. For example, if a game has a lousy single player campaign, but an excellent multiplayer component, that section will be based solely on the multiplayer as if the single player did not exist. This allows games to be based on their own merits, as many unnecessary features are shoehorned into video games by publishers to reach a “feature quota”. Games that excel in both areas of a section don’t receive should be noted in the written review, but cannot increase the score past 2 in that section. However, it can be taken into account in the final section
The final section can add 1, add 0, or subtract 1 to the final score. This final section is the “wildcard” section. This section is for how the reviewer “feels” about the game, but limits this only to this section, rather than the entire 10 point review. This section can include any positive or negative point that was not covered in the previous 5 sections.… Expand
Nov 13, 2013This is one of the best games ive ever played. Its free to play, and not pay to win at all. They have done everything perfect. Ive put 93 hours in, and it still feels like a new game, and this is only the Beta, when the full game comes out, I guarantee, this will be a timeless classic.
Jun 7, 2014Its a really easy game to pick up and be good at. The thing I like about the game though is that it isn't pay to win. There is two currency's, diamonds and kudos. Diamonds cost real money but can be earned by just playing, you earn kudos by playing. The only thing you really need to buy with diamonds are decorations and other stuff that is not needed to win. Units and pilots are all gained by kudos which is gained by playing. This aspect makes it really fun to play since you don't have to pay to be good. Truly I did enjoy the game and will continue to. They also update the game frequently which is good.… Expand
Apr 11, 2014The misconception that Airmech is designed as a MOBA style game is quite a bit too common. Airmech is in the style of an Action RTS (Real-Time Strategy) game. This differs from MOBA primarily in that you can both build different types of units and command them in multiple ways as well as joining the battle yourself.
The basic gameplay is a simple concept. Each team has a main fortress with limited health and there are several smaller bases throughout the map that you capture to increase your income and close in on your opponent. Each base requires you to send four infantry units into it after eliminating all enemy infantry occupying the base.
Beyond the basics, there are a lot of strategic catalysts. Airmech provides a wide selection of mech classes (currently 9) that are diverse in abilities and basic stats which provides for a wide range of strategies with your mech itself. Each mech has a mech form and an air form. Each class of mech has a different style of aircraft it transforms into (osprey, UFO, helicopter, etc.) and multiple reskins on sale from the market.
The units in Airmech come in all shapes and sizes. Everything from massive tanks that can break straight through a hole in your enemies defenses to small speeder-bike style units that can rush bases at the beginning of a match. There is a unit for every situation and then some. Players may find it difficult to decide between units as some are nearly identical in stats and even visual design.
Also, be prepared to find references everywhere. This game has units everywhere from Portal turrets to creepers to Syrian Resistance tanks. The references may be a downer to gamers who prefer a more serious feel to their games, but for the most part are good for a few laughs.
The main downside to this game is that after awhile every match starts to feel the same. You can always mix it up with a change in your loadout or by trying to master a new class of mech, but overall the gameplay can feel repetitive if you play long enough.… Expand
May 17, 2014Wow. This game is very good ! It's actually a early access game because the game is under development but it is not seen ! One might think that the game is over so well done ! So I think that this game have a large potential and you must take it ! It is free !
Jul 30, 2014This is a Super Fun rts game. You can customize your Mech with Parts, pilots, and items that are all acquired through game play. There is no need to pay for anything! You can play solo, coop (against the computer), PVe, or player vs player. It offers a great selection of choices.
You can chat or play the market. Warning ... this game is addicting!!!!
Jan 17, 2013AirMech is a free to play witch mix a real time strategy gameplay with MOBA games mechanics. Lots of customization and fast and frenetic multiplayer complete the game offer. The insufficient AI and the poor single player mode make AirMech perfect for the multiplayer.
Nov 25, 2012If AirMech were just a straightforward, updated clone of Herzog Zwei, I'd have been pleased. That it actually builds considerably on its template while incorporating some of the best elements of its descendants has me nothing short of ecstatic. It probably won't pull away, say, hardcore League of Legends players, but that's not really a shortcoming.
