Played in first person, the game lets its players immerse themselves in a child's limitless imagination. This is a perspective we all have a distant familiarity with, but few can clearly remember what it felt like. In the borderland between dream and reality, surreal creatures and diverse environments will present you with both physical and mental obstacles that challenge your creativity. Expand

Here we have a stylish and original horror adventure, which manages to scare. The ending is quite thought-provoking. The game is quite short, but the time spent on it is definitely quality time. [Aug 2014]

If you allow yourself to exist in the moment, Among the Sleep will take you back to a time when a teddy bear was your shield, and you'd think twice about going to sleep without checking under the bed.

While the setting of Among The Sleep is different, the cogs and gears underneath are a bit too familiar, and that stops Among The Sleep from being quite as scary as it could be.

Among the Sleep is a distinctive and promising first game from new Norwegian studio Krillbite, and though the dreams it conjures might be scary, it ultimately leaves you with the feeling that you're strong enough to face your fears, in dreams or otherwise.

Among the Sleep is an adventure of terror with amazing possibilities, but its final quality isn't the best.

Despite tense moments and imaginative worlds, Among the Sleep doesn't quite live up to the potential of its unique concept. [Issue#251, p.74]

That's what's most disappointing; there's absolutely the spark of a really cool whatever-this-genre-is game in Among the Sleep, and for a while it looks like it's going to get there. Too bad it ends barely a quarter of the way in, passing the baton to something both much less interesting and perpetually trapped in its shadow.

    I love among the sleep.
Every little detail in this world is beautiful paced. Is like you are dreaming but at the same time you are playing a game that invite you to become a child in a place that monsters and darkness are waiting for you . The music ; The story ; The mechanics all make this game well worthy .
This is not Gone home when nothing ever happen . This is you trap in one hell of a journey that you will not forget.
The story is short but is one of a kind.

The game looks great, it sounds great, and I really really felt my hear sink at the somewhat abrupt ending of this little game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After being so scared from the demo I decided to buy the full game, The only thing I don't like about it is the fact is how it has a slender man effect when you get too close to the Demon... Game is overall brilliant and I have had so much fun playing it so far! the levels are very well detailed sadly the game is a lot shorter than I expected... but I still say it's worth the money :) Expand

The graphics are good for a cheap production, and it is a little eerie for the first 30 minutes, but once the game really starts it just looks too colorful and bubbly to be scary, and the teddy bear is just annoying. There are hardly any real puzzles and he pretty much tells you what you need to do for all of them. It isn't hard to figure out what exactly is going on in the game. The ending was no surprise, and in fact it felt very cheap and tacked-on compared to how I imagined it ending. I thought it would be much more compelling.
A far better game (in story, graphics and game play) along the same lines thematically is Papo & Yo.
But if you're looking for a creepy horror experience with pretty much the same level of "puzzles" as this game (i.e. nonexistent), Outlast is a far better option. This is more of a horror game for an 8-year-old.
I must say I did enjoy the first-person view much more than usually being able to see arms and legs. But Outlast has that too and also does that many times better.
It is a novel concept, but it just doesn't have the story or game play to back it up.
