It's the realism that makes the supernatural elements seem so menacing, the beautifully designed, multi-layered puzzles with their much-appreciated clues, the dark atmosphere, lovely graphics, and the restrained, perfectly pitched sounds that make this game an experience.
It’s a little short, and it doesn’t have much in the way of puzzles, but it’s an intriguing game, and it’s fun to play through.
Adds nothing new to the genre and the game world itself isn't very large. [Jan 2007, p.74]
Despite some charming touches, and the slightly amateurish but strangely appealing voice cast, it's an inescapable fact that Barrow Hill adds very little new to the genre.
For true fans of adventure games Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Stones is a fairly decent game but nothing much for gamers in general.
