When DICE buffs up the formidable war machine that is Battlefield Bad Company 2, their star multiplayer franchise, they use every last bit of cultural and movie folklore surrounding this cruel and well-covered conflict. Polished to the extreme, Vietnam enhances all the more the fun it gives us, and those typical moments of bravery.

With Vietnam Battlefield Bad Company 2 becomes the most complete first person shooter of this year, and possible the best.

A DLC that changes everything. A new addiction. [Feb 2011, p.76]

Visceral game changer that provides almost too much bang for 15.8591 bucks. No innovations that further the title, though. [Mar 2011, p.104]

A generous and competent addition to Bad Company 2.

Instead of building upon ideas introduced in Bad Company 2, Vietnam rolls everything back to the decade-old Battlefield 1942.

Battelfield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam is quite possibly the best multiplayer FPS of 2010 and credit must be given to DICE for creating this as well as all of the other maps for Bad Company 2 and the Medal of Honor multiplayer. The visuals and the sounds are second to none and the weapons are all re-balanced taking away the scopes from medics. The look of the weapons and the 60s music completes the atmosphere of Vietnam Expand

Look at these other reviews, they read like ADVERTISEMENTS. This game sucks ass. The maps suck. The selection of weapons and kits are fubar. There is no uniqueness to either side. It's a sniperfest from hell. Not fun in the least. Where is a map like Operation Irving with helicopters and vehicles in large numbers? Where is the bellowing music? The player will randomly lose connection to the servers, their stats server is as of right now, dead. They totally blew their PC launch. Lag is through the roof, to Dice's credit they have been able to disguise the amount of lag present in the game, but good Lord it is there. The cool multiplayer dialogue present in BC2 is exchanged for the Dyslexic Actors Guild renditions of the same old lines. They're selling this piece of crap for 15 bucks so they don't get lynched. I played BC2 for 200 hours, it's one of my favorite games of all time, and BC2: Vietnam is one the most disappointing games I have ever played. Oh and to cap it all off the flame thrower only shoots 10 feet. What a joke. Do yourself a favor and spend your 15 bucks on gas or beer or whatever. Expand

The best multiplayer game of the year gets better. Vietnam has closer quarters, and scopes on only recon guns. The Vietnam atmosphere is complete with music from the 1960s. In short, it's the best $15 I've ever spent. Expand

This is what gamers should get for a $15 DLC. All new maps, all new weapons, all new vehicles. The best thing about Vietnam is that it does actually play differently than the main game. Firefights are much more focused and intense, and the change of scenery is incredibly well done. Considering how weak Bad Company 2's story was, the Vietnam expansion is almost an entirely new game. The only downside here is the relatively small number of maps - although Vietnam, like its parent Bad Company 2, has large enough maps to keep it feeling fresh and exciting. Expand

Big improvement in a lot of aspects of BFBC2. Assault Rifles now have better range to balance snipers, + the maps are better designed so Wookies can't just sit up on a hill and pick people off. Worthless non-contributing wookies are doing their best to ruin BFBC2 vanilla.
-Loses a point for lack of maps... and one is really small nade fest. But if you were score this off of the 3 maps, it would be 10/10. Ok buy for $10. Wish more people played it compared to vanilla, but thats the case with any DLC. A lot of people just don't bother.

The game is fairly well done overall, however it is nothing more than a re-release of "Battlefield: Vietnam" as it is the same game with updated graphcis and destructible buildings and unfortunately feels like not much more than a skins mod for the original Bad Company 2. The maps are well thought out, the combat is fast paced but still well balanced, e.g. a sniper isn't penalised for being sneaky/camping, the assault class isn't easily picked off by snipers, etc. The only gripe I have with the game engine is the helicopter, as yet again with the battlefield series, it lacks realism, its not hard to keep in the air (minus the fact that people will be shooting at you), it is however hard to be deadly on a long term basis. After playing a few team games I saw the helicopter as nothing more than a diversion for the enemy on the ground to be unnecessarily worried about and shoot at while the rest of your teammates on the ground sneak past/knock them off. Sad to say that the "Desert Combat" MOD for the original "Battlefield: 1942" was the last in the Battlefield series to have a realistic approach to the helicopters, they took time to tame, but were absolutely lethal in the hands of a veteran. All in all Vietnam is worth a purchase....if it's on sale...maybe....if you're in the mood, but in all seriousness don't expect anything more than the original "Battlefield: Vietnam". Expand

No prone? No lean? Innacurate weapons. Slow and annoying weaponms unlocking. Inneficient armored vehicles. Empty a whole magazine at an enemy point blank only to get killed by the same enemy with a pistol. WTF?!! Expand
