This is simply giddy, cartoonish mayhem with an extremely low bar for entry.
  2. If you’re in the mood for something fun and free, then do yourself a favor and try Battlefield Heroes.
  3. Initially can be interesting, but after you play a few rounds, it quickly becomes boring because of the few options that the game has to offer.
  4. 80
A lively and dynamic version of the series stripped down to the undeniably appealing essentials.

Even with its faults this game is a great value. Other arcade titles with fun, solid gameplay, simple controls, and this many customizable features will run you between $10-$20, but lucky you, you get Battlefield Heroes for free.
  6. EA DICE presents us a game that comes up with something new concerning the really worn-out issue of war. They have decided to get away from realism und titles like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty. The only negative thing about it is that only online-gamers will have long-term fun clinging to this online game.
  7. You may not be able to argue with its price, but you'll certainly be surprised with how addictive Battlefield Heroes can be.
  8. Without any announcement, Electronic Arts released Battlefield Heroes. Why the secrecy? The free online shooter turns out to be an entertaining game. It's a casual game with almost no tactics to speak of, but it's fast-paced and funny.
  9. A refreshing enough take on war to make it an entertaining time killer. [Sept 2009, p.98]
  10. There's too little vim and variety to rival the great online shooters, but Battlefield Heroes is definitely worth a look. [Oct 2009, p.80]
  11. Early levels too underpowered. [Christmas 2009, p.87]
  12. Battlefield Light - low hardware requirements, fast action, various characters and free of charge. You have to keep in mind the lack of maps and permanent problems with overloaded servers though. [Aug 2009]
  13. This online shooter motivates with its experience system, but only four maps won't keep you interested very long.
  14. Give the developers some money for their hard work. It’s just kind of sad that such a great game makes you feel like such a mug for actually paying for it.
  15. This is not the best multiplayer game around there, neither it is better that other entries in the Battlefield saga, but it is a good effort to make the game available to a wider public.
  16. Battlefield Heroes is a casual gamer title. All the Battlefield series hardcore gamers will find this title pretty boring and poor of contents and tactics. But it's completely free-to-play, so it worth a try from everyone.
  17. Someone somewhere is punching the air and whooping at their enjoyment of machine-gunning pseudo-Nazis while dressed like Elton John, but me, well, I'm hoping I'll soon move on to other, rather more evolved experiences.
  18. Battlefield Heroes is obviously aimed at the casual gamer. It won't satisfy hardcore gamers as its simplicity and gameplay limitations cause a lot of frustration.
  19. As casual as a Saturday night dancefloor encounter. [Issue#23, p.49]
  20. Battlefield Heroes is fun at the beginning, but lacks the necessary depth to become a reference on this genre.
  21. Battlefield Heroes does quite a good job when it comes to entertaining the players for a short while, but with only a few maps and not that many weapons this "Free 2 Play" game comes a bit short. The game offers not that much diversity and if you want to spend your money on microtransactions there is mostly just new outfits to choose from.
  22. Ok It's for free and that's good, but the balance issues, the small number of maps and some not well designed features make it a missed opportunity.
  23. Heroes consistently relies on its cartoon charm to plaster over its messier elements. [Sept 2009, p.92]
  24. The game we've been presented with works against itself more often than it does not.

EA are destroying this 'free' game by providing paying customers with 'Uber' weapons. It started as real money for clothes, you could pay to look different. Now - after stating it would never happen - real money gets you stronger weapons... It would have been a score of 8, bad move EA. Play for Free.. Die for Free Full Review »
  2. There's plenty of better free games out there. Unless you are under the age of about 12, there's no point in even considering this game. TF2, for instance or Crossfire are much better alternatives. Full Review »

The gameplay itself could be way better. They have messed up the balance between classes by adding overpowered-only purchasable weapons. "Free to play - pay to win", and they only tell about the free to play part to us. Full Review »
