I have played the old counter-strike, but the counter-strike source is so much better, it's graphics, realism, etc. There isn't any comparison with this online game, it's totally awesome.

The engine in this game is amazing. They really captured the physics very nicely but not over the top.

Great graphics and sound but it requires to much power for some low computerised graph cards so the game is only recommended for people with powerful computers but its defintelly recommend to give a shot cause its super addictive Nice work STEAM :)

Been updating now for over 24 hours with 3-7 hours left to go and a 600k connection, what an absolute joke... every other of my 120+ installed games however runs like a dream... once again, valve take the apex of gaming and enviroments and simply put people off by making updates slow, laborious and in most cases frustrating

while this game could be fun, for the average person with a nice computer, it is a poor, nay, awful imitation of cs1.6. The game feels slugish and slow paced. While the graphics are amazing, this game doesnt come anywhere close to cs1.6, which IMO is the greatest fps of all time. The competitive aspect of this game is also awful compared to 1.6.

Since 1.3 I have been addicted to counter-strike, with the release of CS Source, the maps have been reworked and the physics (Half-Life 2) are incredible, detail is uncomparable to the orginal, great remake of a classic game! CS-ADDICT for life.

Best game I played so far, and I've played a lot of FPS related games including Unreal Tournament type games, Quake... I am a game fanatic... but out of all the games I know of so far, Counter Strike source to me is the best.

I have played CS since the first version came out with Half Life. It still kicks any Team based games out there. For some reason I keep coming back for more.

Great graphics and great new and improved maps. Great buy menu features. It would be a 10 if it had the game play of 1.6. Frankly, you can kill and be killed too easily and one's actions are not as life-like.

Hm I enjoyed 1.6 quite a lot before eventually deciding to also purchase source so as play with a good friend of mine. When playing by myself I always find myself switching back to 1.6. It feel as if the old game has been raped. Why? There's nothing that's been improved from the smooth-running, skill-desiring 1.6 unless you like the new graphics (which I personally find horrendeous). In 1.6 I still consider myself a newbie after 4 years of play (I do work and have a social life) and get real excited when once in a while you have a great score.. Great Game! Brilliant graphics and will run well on a large range of PC's, good gameplay that is not overly complex, does not require large amounts of teamwork which allows for a good pub session but competatively is well balanced and a very exciting game. This game allows new gamers to the fps genre see what its all about but also is a little relief from 'twitch' gaming seen in the Call of Duty titles (not saying these are bad games, i own and play CoD2). I believe Counter Strike: Source for this reason represents the basics of the fps genre without to many 'fancy' bits. For those veteran gamers Counter Strike: Source offers the equal, if not, a greater gaming experience. Counter Strike 1.6 has for a long time been a very competitive centered game, with tournaments and ladders and recently CSS has managed to begin to equal the 1.6 leagues. Wars and scrims in counter strike source could not be more intense and exciting. Overall give this game a 10/10, truly one of the greatest games for online multiplayer… Expand

An extremely poor attempt at recreating a classic title that still out performs it to this very day (Coutner-Strike 1.6). If this was a stand alone game under a different title, it would be moderately decent... but because it uses the Counter-Strike name, it fails to live up to expectations. Everything that made the original counter-strike so great is gone, even the famed money system has been nerfed in Source. If you are looking for a game to test your new computer, buy Half-Life 2... if you are looking for a game that lasts, that has skill, fun, and an insanely large community... go with Counter-Strike 1.6, not Counter-Strike: Source. i giver it 9 because the graphics r good but and the guns r good but the health is weird yes in real life one shot to head ur dead im glad they inclueded that but if u get shot in the leg u would fall or shot to the stomoch,they should of made if u get shot in the stomach u lose helath bit by bit as in ur losing blood but overall great online game.

Don't listen to the people who gave it 0s and 3s. This game has alot more amazing things than cs 1.6 or any other cs game. Levels are ALOT more detailed than the other version and less boxier. You can tell Valve spent a great deal on this. Hackers and cheaters/botters are rarely on because of admins and hosts. Headshots can be only made by a true marksman, hacker/botter, or by just pure luck. I love the snipers new zoom crosshairs because they seem clearer and easier to aim with (More life like). To close this up, get the game. Don't listen to the negatives, they are probably BIG n00bs that can't aim a F***ing ak and that blame it on hackers and botters. PS- those little kids are pretty good you will find, but they can get annoying time to time.… Expand

I believe that by far Counter strike Source is one of the most amazing and excellently interactive games on the market and i believe it to be a great way to not only play but to meet people make friends and build awesome teams for competition css is by far not only a great game with staying power but a great game in the all around sense of the word great.

This game is pretty damn awesome. First off, the regular multiplayer maps (De_Dust, de_Inferno ECT.) are made very well. Another thing is the physics. The physics are extremely realistic, and if an admin doesn't like that they can easily make the physics like on a cartoon (You shoot a barrel and it flys till it hits a wall, lol.). The third thing is that if you don't like the regular game, you can always try"Surf" maps, where you slide on inclines and start with usually only a pistol (You get guns the further you go, I.E.: UMP45 if you only get 1/8th through, AWP if you get all the way through), Zombie Survival, which you have to utalize teamwork or you usually get rocked. You may say "BUT ZOMBERS ONLY HAS LOW HEALTH?". You are wrong; they have 2500 health (5000 for the starting one). There are still more modes, like DeathMatch and GunGame. The only problem I had with this game were the people with the ego the size of Betelguise (Really big star, for all of you who failed science ;D). They're the ones who usually ruin gameplay for me or other people.

Very nice graphics, but poor models moving. A big step forward from CS 1.6. Still, the firing is unrealistic, too many head shots... I'll give it a 7. The good thing in buying the DVD is that you get the HL2:Deathmatch and DayOfDefeat: Source, making the DVD worth buying.

Nearly a perfect game, in places a bit unrealistic but has been changed a lot from the crap graphics and very unrealistic gameplay of CS 1.6. Sadly though they have changed many things which doesn't really have the touch of the original CS. The graphics are almost perfect but some things could be changed. But if you're a Counter-Strike fan this is a must buy object.

One of the greatest FPS game ever made for the PC. Graphics are just absolutely amazing. The Physics are so lovely. The only thing that bugged me just a tad bit was the gameplay. It is unrealistic in some ways. It's A very good game with nice graphics!

I love CS:S alot. The only downside I have ever had with the game is the fact you can not use iron sights. Other then that, levels are incredible, and very realistic. THe enviorment in the game is amazeing and just about everything you shoot, will react in its own way.

This game is a classic. I can see myself playing it for many years to come. Unlike other online games you don't have to play it 24/7 to be a contender or pay an arm and a leg to play the game.

Well honestly my pc isn't that slow but sometimes it is really really REALLY slow. Unluckily for me right when i got CS:S my pc was in that very bad slow motion mode. so it took me about 1hour 30minutes to upgrade or upload or whatever to start playing. But I played it in my cousins house zombie mod Warcraft 3 mod etc.... and it really is a fun game once you get used to it. It WILL get addicting in a weird stage of playing it and you'll be on it 24/7... not doing homework... jobs of any sort... chores maybe... whatever. The point is I love the game but it seems to go slower then CS 1.6, not as in laggy but I mean when you move you actually feel like your walking, oh and with an awp you feel like... well.. you get it... its really slow motion moving. Although i like the original CS 1.6 game better, this game seems to be an even match because of the new game mods and the crazyily good graphics. But everything you just read is really just my opinion. I'll give it a 10/10 for game play but a 8/10 for the dumb noobs or whatever that cuss on it and start whining.… Expand

I remember when I first got my laptop it never lagged in any game, I could actually enjoy it. Then, after awhile, it started slowing up. So when I first got CS:S I thought i was in for some major lag and I wouldn't be able to enjoy it. But, after like 15 games with no lag, where as my CS:CZ would lag after a half a game, I'm pretty impressed. I love this game!

Good game, poor players. they constant bunny hopping and exploitive playing of most "players" of this game takes away any fun that may have been there for people with a life. the lack of realism is this games main downfall. and its main strong point for the people not skilled enough to play real FPS games

In my opinion, Counter-Strike:Source is a really well designed continuation of the famous Counter-Strike 1.6 fps game. The Source engine really amused the CS followers and fans.

I think some of the negative ratings on this site are rating the community rather than the actual game, but that's a bit to be expected. The game is pretty good, kind of hard to learn at first when you get shot down without ever moving, but once you get the hang of it the game is really interesting. I wish there were a single player story mode though.

The graphic is much better as the graphic from counter-strike 1.6 or counter-strike: condition zero. the maps are realer than before. i mean erverything is better than before :) they did a good job.

Hackers & Cheaters! too damn many of them. what is valve doing to solve this extensive problem? I hope they put as much effort into dealing with the hackers as they did with creating one of the BEST graphics engines to date.

Game has everything a gamer would ever dream of, expect playing this game wont make you get the girls, but who cares about chicks when you can pump up some hossies and make ships and fountains go boom.

I own an Xbox 360, and all the hype re: Halo 3 makes me despair, although the 360 is unparelled for sports, driving and even arcade style 'Live' games.. there is no competition between the PC and the 360 in terms of FPS quality. Halo 3 is reminiscent of a cut down, impoverished Unreal Tournement 2003. So not only are FPS far superior on the PC, there is nothing which can match the depth and strategic live action combat of Counter-Strike: Source. The nearest contender is Day of Defeat: Source and the two are games which compliment, rather than directly compete, with each other. As with the original HL based Counter-Strike, nice graphics/physics engines come and go, gameplay remains. Long after the Source engine is considered ugly/dated, Counter-Strike:Source will still be the most played online FPS in the world. Never has so much been owed by so many to the few at Valve.… Expand

Counter Strike Source is one of the most versatile, balanced, and fun games I have come across in my years of gaming. It takes online gameplay to a whole new level of awesome.

So simple, yet so advanced... this game is better then any FPS I've played yet!
