Best shooter I've ever played. And I've played a lot, starting with Wolfenstien 3D, and even before that Dungeons of Daggorath if you want to consider a really old first person game. I can only play this game on medium detail, I have a low profile case, and as such I don't have the greatest GFX card in the world. I use a ATI Radeon HD 4650. I will say however, on medium, this game looks great compared to most of the titles I have on the XBOX 360, and compared to most of the titles I have on the PC. It plays smooth, and I'm pleased with performance. It only helps to know that when I upgrade my computer a few months from now the game will scale up to it, unlike most of my titles. As far as game play, I don't understand what people really are talking about. This is what keeps me playing this game over 2 years after I have bought it. I love the fact that having a suit with only 4 options gives me so many ways to approach a situation. The enemy AI seems to act appropriately for most of my actions, but there are a few times I have to scratch my head. The plot was fine with me. Off the wall, yes... But gave the game a creepy feel to it, and kind of made the game two separate experiences with the same multitude of options to solve each. Overall, I just found this game fun. I've become kind of immune to the FPS craze, and while I've played games like Modern Warfare 2, and all the Halo games, Crysis is still the pinnacle of fun to me. Giving me the option to run and gun, or stand in the middle of a Korean Base fully cloaked. My one complaint, and it is a complaint in most games, the vehicles drive like cardboard boxes. In fact, the only fun I had was with the tank level, only because it was the only vehicle in the game that drove like it should. I definitely recommend this game. Just don't expect to get the highest settings out of it, but know that the game is fun and very playable at lower settings. Expand

I bought 2 copies, 1 on origin, the other on steam. It is an amazing game even I played it after it being released 4 years. The environment is very well created, especially the plants are almost real, the map is sandbox, in which I play run back and fourth without getting boring. The story and the atmosphere is breath-taking that I can feel the wild survival mood and get addicted to it to play it 4 or 5 hours a day. The nanosuit enables the plays to have many alternative ways to complete the mission, if you don't want to have a fight, just switch to cloak mode to sneak, or if you are tired of repetitive shooting, just switch to power mode to beat enemies with your bare hands. If I have to name the cons, it is not optimized well that no PC can run it on maximum settings when the game is released, and my laptop which was bought in 2011 can't do it either. But anyway, it is an amazing game. Expand

Crysis revolutionize the FPS genre, being a distinct masterpiece. I will start by saying that It haves the most beautiful graphics ever. But, what you need to know is that the gameplay is really enjoyable, fast and exciting. It's not only with guns, the main character haves a Nanosuit, where he can be invisible, where he can have an electric armor, where he can be stronger and where he can be incredibly fast. Well, gameplay is really unique, is like 50% sandbox! You feel like a bad-ass while playing Crysis. The story is decent, and It haves intense moments. But, If you want to play this game with the highest settings, then you need a powerful PC to play it. Crysis is amazing, and you should buy it! 97 out of 100 Expand

This games graphics are amazing. The thing is,you don't need a REALLY powerful computer.I am running this on 4 GB DDR2 RAM,ATI RADEON 3200 HD graphics,AMD Turion X2 RM-75 dual core processors,and320GB SATA hard drive whic is 5400 rpm. This game works fine. For all of you who say the game is hard, you have to think a little bit more during gameplay. So you don't get totally pwned by the AI.The storyline is good,it made me want to play it over again. But overall this game is great and I hope other people think so too. Visually it's a great game if you have potent hardware. The story is thin but you may solve the tasks at hand in your very personal way (brute force, stealth, etc). The physics is rather buggy (FarCry had a far less error prone physics engine, but HL2's physics engine does also have its moments) and I was stuck in one level due to plot scripting errors, but I'm confident Crytek will address these issues (as they did for FarCry). It was a lot of fun playing the game and will be fun for the 2nd and 3rd time as well which makes it worth the 30 Euros. Expand

Definitely one of the greatest first-person experiences ever made. I hear a lot about the story being mediocre, but it's better than the stories present in MOST first-person shooters. Yes, it really is. It's like a good Sci-Fi channel series. I guess because Crysis raises the bar in so many other areas, people begin expecting its story to live up to a different set of standards--rather than comparing it to the stories present in the entire spectrum of FPS's, they instead compare its story to the kinds of stories told in other game genres, like RPGs. I liked Crysis' story. It didn't eclipse my favorite RPG's story, but then, I'd be an idiot to expect it to and then complain when it doesn't. All I gotta say is, MAN, this game is freaking AWESOME. I'm pretty good at stealth manipulation and marksmanship, though, so I'm going to be looking for small ways to mod the game so that it's even harder than it was on Delta Mode. Maybe make the health never regenerate? We'll see. If you can run it, and at great settings, GET THIS GAME NOW. You will NOT regret it. Expand

Started off strong and exciting. The ending kind of felt like it was added just to end the game. Overall the game is great. Graphics, weapons, and tanks are all good. I love shooters where you shoot humans, not zombies, aliens, clones, ect, so I think that is one reason why I like this game a lot(and maybe why the ending was a bit of a let down).

I simply love the game.. Its great! The story isnt the best. I finished it and tought "HEY THIS CANT BE THE END?!?!" So i googled after "crysis 2" for some reason, and hey! I found out that crysis might be a trilogy! So the game will continue! I cant say that Crysis is just like Far Cry. everything beside the tropics is different! Not even the story is the same! I give it 10 out of 10 because all the stuff you can do on just a simple game! Like how many games has the possibillity to cut down a tree exactly where you shoot? None! And in how many games can u crush a house with just your fists? None! LOVE IT! Expand

You cant judge a game by whether it performs well on your PC. It may well be a demanding game, but its unfair to dismiss it if you cannot run it on your PC. THe game itself is marvelous. Crysis does wow with its life-like graphics, and the nano suit is awesome, and the AI is spectacular. Another thing about this game is the non-linear structure means that the player is able to go about doing there own thing, whether it be go in all guns blazing, or just stealth past them. Crysis offers a unique experience that no other game (except far cry) has touched, but the criticism i have is that the game is too short. This game is a 5 star game but only for a while, so i recommend playing the game through on hard or delta force difficulties to get the most out of a truely brilliant game. Expand

A very good game. Vehicle controls take a bit to get used to, and the higher difficulties are really hard, but it is a game that forces you to think to survive, and isn't just a straight-up run and gun game. Yes, the story is shallow, but the graphics and gameplay more than make up for that.

I have to laugh at the people saying that this is "overrated" because of the graphics. One person even said something like "You can use anything as a weapon, but why would you?" People, if you don't see why killing people with a waterbottle or making your own "grenade" from the top half of a tree and a detpack is fun, you obviously need to go back to playing CoD4, or whatever game boring people play nowadays. Crysis is, hands down, the best shooter I have ever played. Expand

Graphically this is the most impressive game to date. What's most amazing is that underneath all that gloss there's actually substance to back it all up. With an excellent single player (*which by all means cries out for replay value) and an innovative multiplayer all in one package. This is definitely the best FPS of the year.

I don't see what all the complaints on here about. In my opinion one of three contenders for Game of the Year along with Bioshock and Orange Box. I thought this was just going to be another graphics showcase like a lot of new games are, but I was surprised to find substantial story elements and fantastically fun gameplay. Granted, the story isn't Half-Life 2 but it actually develops throughout the game and easily exceeds the likes of the ever-popular Halo series. The graphics are without a doubt the best ever made, and provided you don't run it with antialiasing on (which doesn't make a big difference in this game anyways) the game runs pretty smooth. Don't expect to be able to run it in all very high DX10 without the latest and greatest cuz there's no denying that it was built for next-gen hardware. I run it on a Pentium 4 2.4 ghz, 768 mb ram, and 256 mb Radeon 9600xt which are all under minimum requirements and I get an average fps of around 20, so it seems like people are overbitching. The AI contrary to what many people say, I found quite good. If you snipe an enemy with a silencer, other enemies won't react until they see the corpse. They'll try to flank you, take cover, and what's really interesting is if you shoot with a silencer at an object behind an enemy, that enemy will react to the sound, caused by the impact of the bullet, and look back to see if someone is out there. It's not the greatest game ever, but it's damn close. The multiplayer is fun but it's not anything revolutionary, although i found the vehicle-based gameplay more fast-paced and fun in the long run than the battlefield series. Far Cry was good, this is a masterpiece! Expand

I love comments like 'oh the engine can only render islands' . What?! The indoor sections are just as impressive, and various different mods and maps have proven that it's a very capable engine. Away from the graphics. (They're undeniably the best in any game so far, despite being released a year ago.) The gameplay is very good. The alien bit a the end was poor in comparison. I didn't enjoy the alien combat but when the first 75% of the game is so damn good, I don't mind that much. I'm sure that people would be complaining that the game was the same through out if it hadn't been included. The suit is very useful and innovative. I got used to it quickly and it makes other games feel very basic in comparison. The AI is passable (ie, being able to do everything they should be able to do whilst still allowing you to run up to them, grab them by the neck and toss them otno the nearest land-mine). Awww... okay. Back to the graphics. After half Life 2 I didn't think I would be impressed by graphics again. I was wrong. It ADDS to the game. There are some areas which have real personality. I swear that I've been to that industrial ruin place (just before the alien bit starts) and the entire game really has a sense of 'place'. You never feel that you're in a level. It covers up the linearity well and brings games on to the next level. Ignore the naysayers. They're probably comparing this game to real life or something, as there is no other game to compare it to yet. (Graphics-wise. The gameplay is always a matter of personal opinion but I feel they did a very good job. I just wish enemies took fewer hits to die- I guess it's the bad side of having so many different choices and strategies to approach them.). Expand

im using an alienware with a 8800GTX 2.6core2duo with a physX card and 4mb ram and this game runs flawless and i thought the game play was fantastic, the ending kinda pissed me off but only b/c it leaves you hanging knowing that they are coming out with a sequel, im also using the g9 laser mouse and a glass steelseries mouse pad with these little feet that you glue on the bottom of your mouse which makes a big difference in the aim'ing and movement in crysis. i thought it was a good game and ive beaten it on every difficulty setting except EASY. maybe u need a rig like this to get the experience, if so ,that sucks for crytek considering that the majority of gamers are not that fortunate to spend 3-5k on a rig just to play a game. the game only crashed 1 time and that was after i had beaten it and i was showing a friend the game from a saved part of the game, figures, runs perfect then when i show it off it shits on me : but i thought it was an amazing singleplayer experience, i havent tried multiplayer yet but the tutorial looks fun. just 1 mans opinion amongst many. Pushing aside the somewhat unintelligent story-line.. We have to look at this games amazing features. Dont give it crappy ratings just cause the designers wanted to make a be-a-utiful game! Thats half of what making a game is about! Another thing, not to long ago (5 years or so) there was hardly any game that had replay value beyond harder difficulty settings. Like Unreal Tournament, plus the fact that the physics engine is supreme beyond anything I've seen. I'de say no one can even think about giving this game any less then a 8 because it was very well planned out. And if you disagree because of bugs, crashes, or high end graphics, then you gotta give Cry-tek a break because they were dealing with a new engine ENTIRELY and that my friends is extremely hard. For starting from scratch and making a game that I can find fun in for every 30 secs that passes, I give it a 10 all the way. Sequal better be fixed up though! Expand

Simply put, this is the best shooter to come out in years. First of all the graphics are absolutely mind blowing, assuming you have a PC powerful enough to handle it, even on low they are pretty good, and the gameplay is fun the whole way through. The AI for the most part lives up to the expectations that were well touted by Crytek, and the battles never play out the same way twice. The four suit powers you have to be one of the most fun gameplay elements ever introduced in a shooter, which makes for really interesting multiplayer matches. Also, while playing the game you'll feel like you're in a really spectacular sci action film, with tons of action and breathtaking moments. Basically if you haven't played this game you're missing out. Expand

The future of FPS, in terms of both gameplay and graphics. How can you not love it?! The nanosuit, and the whole open-ended feel allow for tons of strategies and fun! A few bugs, a bad ending, and boring alien combat somewhat spoil it, but the first 2/3 of the game are absolutely thrilling. Don't say it's bad just because everyone else does. The story is rather weak, but to me, this game could have no plot and be amazing. Crytek has managed to raise the graphical and physic bar so high that even gamers with super-computers are hard pressed to turn the graphics all the way up. I have a Quad core q6600 and a 3870 X2 graphics card and I can only play on high but even only on high i go down into the 20's in frames per second. on highest I crawl into low teens at many times. But this game on very high is truly a masterpiece. NOTHING has ever even come close to looking as good as this game, nothing. and some of the gameplay elements were amazing as well. We all owe a debt to Crytek for pushing the envelope. This tech will have a HUGE impact on gamers lives for years to come. Plus I thought the game was pretty fun most of the time too. Expand

1st and foremost, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the street. Crysis isn't a game meant for people who kind of think they might want to try an FPS - it's fairly difficult, and downright punishing to first-time players. Its steep system requirements are another underline of that fact. Generally, any hardcore gamer will have no problem running something like this - and even at medium graphics settings, it looks no worse than any other modern FPS. On high and very high, it really shines. The reason I don't give it a 10 is because the story is a little weak. It's one of those stories where you're really into it while you're playing it ... but try explaining it to a friend. This rating is based on how good a game it is compared to other games on the market. It's innovative (the nanosuit is a great addition), fun to play, and not too hard or too easy. The addition of delta mode makes it even more interesting - it's not harder, it's just a little different. I didn't rate this game based on its hype. It was a bit over-hyped. Perhaps that's where some of its high ratings came from, perhaps not. Hey, look at halo 3 - it's a decent game, but not even close to deserving a 10/10. Crysis didn't have THAT much hype, but just because it's overhyped doesn't mean it's any less of a great game, or any less satisfying to play. And I've never seen such excellent physics. Expand

Technologically its a masterpiece and the tech thankfully makes a large contribution to the gameplay. Some of the flaws are focused on too much - basically because most of it is perfect. Its the most consistently designed FPS ever made. Simple enough to pick up, deep enough to engage. Replayable a thousand ways. Most people hate this game for one reason - they can't run it at 1900 pixels resolution. What do you expect? It has realtime shadows for A JUNGLE, ambient occlusion and pretty much everything in the game moves or is destructible. If anyone is to blame its the pc manufacturers for not being able to produce decent hardware. Yes nvidia, you included. I actually rate this a good 9 but i'm giving it 10 to compensate for all the idiots posting low scores. Expand

The greatest FPS I ever played - Crytek FTW! I don't say that only because of the graphics! Of course the engine is great, but the huge areas you can discover on your own and the free gameplay, which is (in my opinion) much more realistic than all these script-based shooting ranges out there (like COD4, for example) make this game so special. The ones that bash this game extremely just don't get how "It's meant to be played" (just to say it with Nvidias slogan). This is not the kind of WW2 shooter you are all used to. This is something different; something where you create the story partially on you own. Are you ready for it? Expand

Well, this game is simply astonishing. it's not perfect, and there are a LOT of issues, but the parts where the game shines REALLY outdo the parts that suck. This seems to be the game that people either love or hate. I personally love it, even with the extremely punishing hardware requirements I think it's the current, ultimate evolution of the FPS. Yes the story is a bit trite, but I still enjoyed every second. Even the VTOL part, most people seem to hate this part but my mouth dropped open and I thought "THIS is the game that keeps giving back! Who would've thought in an FPS they'd completely change it like this for one level!" In my mind, the only flaw was that section didn't last long enough. Great game. Loved it. It's rather simple. First of all, this is THE proof that will silence those fanboy gamers that cannot understand the difference between a real computer and a limited one (a.k.a., a console), because it will take another gen or two before consoles will be able to handle any graphics even close to this. Second, everyone rating it down here are just haters, gamers that are pissed off because it doesn't run well on their computer. I've read stuff about people buying a computer for 1500 and not even being able to run it on high? I've also read stuff about "Crytek, it's the 21st century so make it run better?" - that's the thing, it's the 21st century, get a decent PC instead of whining is what you should do. Such people just fail at knowing what PC to buy, mine for 1200 runs it perfectly so there you already have an example. The gameplay is just fantastic, way better than those fake games like Call of Duty 4. If you are actually a real gamer, you don't want to miss out on this game. This game is the best game on the market, which is what to expect from Crytek. The gameplay is totally non-linear, and for those thinking it isn't, go play cod4 2 [calling it modern warfare doesn't make sense because of the automated sentry guns(makes TF2 look believable) and the heartbeat sensor sensing through walls (a minuscule electrical impulse being detected through 10 metres of concrete, I mean how does it do that?) and shock waves going through space killing that astronaut? IW. there's no sound in space) and the EMP devices they use? Only EMP we can make is from a nuclear or thermonuclear weapon.] Love how they try to be like L4D :sarcasm:, but don't make enemies look like zombies, just running in and dying constant and do some complete linear run'n'gun where you can't die. Anyone who thinks 4 2, or any cod series is better should be in a metal institution; look at cod2, came out in 2005, how far down is that from Far Cry or Half-Life 1 & 2, which came out in 2004. Crytek games are usually cheaper than other games in the same genre, even though they pwn all of them. Crytek, even though there games look similar, make completely different games (about the tropical enviroments, who doesn't like to fight on a lush jungle island?). Cretek also makes a new engine and takes time developing a game unlike IW who just makes a sequel to a sequel of a sequel, not changing anything, but the sound (and didn't 50 cent voice a marine?). And by the way for all the noobs that cant play Crysis, get a pc that can run it well. Expand

This game is excellent. And for those of you who don't have the 'best' systems go play your low end games while people who do have high end systems marvel at the draw-dropping graphics. This game is excellent. The graphics are amazing, and AI are excellent for open ended gameplay (Do not compare Crysis' AI to that of COD4 or FEAR as they are completely different programmed between close and open combat). The MP is extremely fun and enjoyable. Now those of you who don't like this game go and play COD4 or another low end game, while use players who do enjoy it have fun play the 2007 Game of the Year. Best first person shooter in years. Its graphics are unbelievably good. Gameplay is fun and original. Even replayability is pretty high, because of the many ways the game can be played through (stealth, sniper, melee combat, guns blazing, throwing objects). Only down side is that other games' graphics will look rather ugly to you, once you've experienced Crysis.

Brilliant Game. Guys running 8800 GTX... just lower the settings... i mean why pan a game that tries to bring the best out of your machine? Heck the game runs on old systems as well! I ran it on my laptop (after tweaking) and still had a great experience. And here's to those who are giving it zero etc for story... guys... who cares about a story? Unless you are like a nerd who likes to 'feel' the game and 'be' in the character... 'go watch a damn movie like eternal sunshine of the spotless mind'! Oh and About Korean accent? Just switch to hardest difficulty... and then you will hear Korean. :p When it comes to gameplay... Crysis is very good. I know this may sound premature, but Crysis is taking the Battlefield online play to a WHOLE new level by combining the best of FPS aspects. Think of a game set in the future that takes the best from BFseries, and Coutnerstrike and put it all together in a nice tasty DirectX10 package. Bam, you get Crysis.

I don't get it, I don't understand how so many people could say this game is over-hyped....I'm running it with a 3 year old system with the graphics set on low with a couple on medium and high and it has the most life like graphics I have ever seen, from the leaves on the tress to the tortoises crawling around, it's amazing. The nano-suit is really fun to use, it's powerful, but not so powerful that it breaks the game; it's simple and you can switch between the modes easily and quickly to perform complex actions like sprint up a hill, megajump and then cloak at the top. I see no major problems with the A.I. It has to track a player that is invisible a sizable amount of the time; the vehicle A.I. is a little strange, but that's only if you consider that the A.I. would rather stay in a vehicle rather than leave it, and that it continues to shoot at you with a vehicle mounted machine gun when your right next to the jeep, but he can still hit you there if he catches you; the same goes for boats. I had a moment where I was in the middle of 20-some North Koreans, so I threw a grenade at a group of them and cloaked and ran away while they were all staring at the explosion, after a bit they picked up on me and stalked me into a creek-bed and I almost didn't escape; I think that shows pretty good A.I. in a game. If I was walking the jungle with a gun looking for some jerk who just blew up my hut, it would take me more than a second to react if said guy appeared in front of me with a assault rifle. The wide expanse of this game allows for very open gameplay. In one instance you could ghost-ride a cargo truck into a command post of an enemy going at 60 to level it; in another, if you wish, you can get into a fortress by slowly infiltrating inbetween guards to get the information and get out without firing a shot. The physics in this game are almost as impressive as the graphics, especially the dynamic model dismemberment, which allows you to level trees and buildings with sometimes as little as your fists. This has come in handy often while playing for me; if I'm trapped in a building I can just switch to strength and punch a hole in the wall and leave through that hole. In the end, this game takes all the elements that have come about since Far Cry and it amplifies them, the graphics are undeniably the most advanced rendering gaming has ever seen, on PC or on Console. The newer physics they've added with structure and vegetation destruction are crazy, I personally spent 15 minutes leveling part of an island of tress just because I couldn't believe how far you could go with it, you can chop them into logs! You can punch a small tree and break it, grab it and use it for soft cover! If you throw a grenade above the forest it creates a realistic shock wave that ripples the leaves on the trees. I just don't see what could be more fun than jumping onto a building and having the roof shot away underneath you so you fall to the ground and immediately throw a grenade to a wall which explodes collapsing the building on-top of the enemies while you jump out of the hole they just shot in the ceiling; as far as action fps shooters go, that's all I could really ask for. Until they implement this kind of thing in a setting like GTA. The reason I gave it a 9 is because all of your squad members are outrageous stereotypes and talk like they're selling crack more than discussing covert-ops, the Koreans "english" voices sound cut straight out of Team America unless your playing on the absolute hardest difficulty, (something which I just don't feel like doing right now, if they had a switch between Korean and English I'd have it on Korean all the time) the grab mechanism is a little more sensitive than I'd like it and it disappointed me that when the frogs jump into the water they don't swim away; and this is really everything I dislike about this game, honestly, so far that's it, that and I don't have a $10,000 computer to run it on ultra, which isn't Cryteks fault. Fantastic, I love it. As a big fan of Far Cry, I have been waiting eagerly for Crysis, and I have not been disappointed. My own preference is for a more open-ended simulation-oriented game experience, with the emphasis on what you do as a player to move the game forward, and Crysis delivers this in style. There do seem to be lots of people giving Crysis dismal scores for it's perceived lack of "plot" or "story" elements. To them, I must say that "story" is not the focus of a sandbox style game like Crysis. Don't slam the game or it's creators just because you don't get it. Expand

For all those reviewers who basically badmouth Crysis cause its graphics are not great and the AI is dumb and the story has been done over and over again, id like to hear what game completely counters all of Crysis' advantages. Like World War II and Mario games haven't been milked for all they are worth? Crysis is beautiful even on MEDIUM settings which is what i run it at with a steady 40-50 FPS. Yea the A.I. is sometimes stupid and will just run to random places with no cover, but try and name any game where the A.I. is flawless. If you try and notice, if you have been spotted by launching a shoulder mounted RPG into a village of KPA officers and resort to hiding in a building afterwards, the A.I. WILL flank you from all sides. You'll find yourself laughing when you pick off a few enemies, then hiding, then getting shot at from all sides as you run around the edges of a village looking for more ammo. Plus theres a range of missions where you an drive civilian cars, KPA armored jeeps, tanks, and planes. With the addition of the NANO suit you wear, you'll have fun sneaking up behind enemies with your cloaking mode, switching to strength mode and flinging enemies across the forest. Crysis is worth the buy as long as you have the system to run it. My only Con is that unless your playing on NASA's supercomputers, your not gonna get to play on Very High settings. It's worth the buy. Expand

Crysis is a great game, an a game doesn't need over the top graphics to be a good game. Like Half-Life from 1998, the graphics may suck but the game is still great. The game gets really exciting when you get into the Assault part. Crytek's engine will get superated by the Valve's HPRV engine that will be applied to Half-Life 3, and it will have a better visual and a better performance. Expand

This is by far the most beautiful game I've ever seen. That said, it's not the best game. Very, very pretty. Sure, you need a silly system to get the best out of it and the engine's top settings have clearly been designed with future hardware in mind, but if you've spent a lot of money on hardware recently it'll make you feel like you know where it went.

Single player campaign is nicely textured and not quite as linear as is usual for an FPS - there are often
multiple ways to reach your objectives. Not much new to be had though, there's no game element that stands out as particularly innovative once you've got past the sheer beauty of the environment. Multiplayer in particular is a bit meh, there are a million FPS offerings and this just isn't one of the best online ones. Still gets a 9 from me, but it's mostly a shallow 9 for its looks. Expand

Crysis is just another word for "Phenomenal." Crysis is an amazing game in many ways, most especially the graphics, but there's several problems with Crysis one especially being how powerful your machine has to be to get some real beauty out of the game. But trust me, if you love shooters and you want to see some originality and a successor to FarCry, then if I were you, I would defiantly buy Crysis. It's a kick-ass game that includes lots of new features including a somewhat interesting multiplayer (it'll take a helluva lot of practice before you're officially good at it), the Story is pretty decent, the graphics are amazing...and somehow I wish the length of the campaign was longer. But no worries, Crysis will definitely be a good shooter for you to enjoy. Just make sure your gaming rig can handle this beast of a game. Expand

Aside from a brilliant engine there is a very solid well designed FPS game with a few tricks up its sleeve to make it great. The nano suit adds greater freedom to complete objectives with in the large detailed maps. With such freedom emergent gameplay is there to have.
Performance will be a problem for some including myself but a stable <20 fps is all you need to enjoy playing. Multiplaye
r is also solid with plenty of room for playing how you want.

Disregard every posting that doesn't award an 8 or higher. These people are idiots who are most likely incapable of the slightest owning experience. This game is comparable to the militarys shock and awe campaigns. With a muscular PC youll feel like your actually running through the woods, shooting gooks, and running along the beaches. The graphics are so revolutionary they make graphics revolutions like TRibes 3 (Way to ruin a great game Vivendi, you guys suck, at life.) and Oblivion seem farce. Aside from graphics the game's plot does need a little work. Seems that Crysis's creators need to hire some of Bethesda's, b/c ive never seen such a great premise for a game (the suit, the guns, the graphics) w/ such a BASIC plot. Its not that the plot sucks, its basic and mediocre. However, It seems worse than it is next to the graphics breakthroughs. 3 things I'd like to see changed in the next expansion: Multiple, interesting plot twists that pull that player in, better social interactions between the ai bots, and professional voice recordings. Do wat Console games do, hire a professional to make the personas believable. last but not least, dont do stupid stuff like make the plot twist that some idiot wants to go back onto the island. Its so stupid it ruins that game and i want to stab u in the eye with a pencil... you can exclude that last part but seriously, fuck crysis creators for that stupid plot twist. how fucking retarded can they be? Single player: AWESOME F.P.S. Best graphics on the market as of begening of 2008. Physics engine is incredible. Attention to detail is seen all over maps. Sounds are great. Story is somewhat compelling. AI is excellent. can run game on older computer by lowering settings. Vehicle controls are easy. why not a 10/10: not as many weapons as other fps, sometimes takes more than 1 bullet to enemies head to drop them. your friends are absent for most of the campaign; they only show up in airplanes to pick you up, or to take a hostage you just freed, or chat up with you for a couple before leaving you alone to slaughter platoons of Koreans. Multiplayer is RIDDEN with tiny but annoying bugs: a lot of cheaters on a lot of servers. it is easy to die by being run over, even if vehicle is going very slow, or brushing against you. aircraft often lag and move unsmothly in the air. AA vehicle is useless against aircraft, does very little damage. Gauss tank = only real opponent to aircraft. I keep getting killed by aircraft even though i am in cloak mode. Often laggy even if good ping. Expand

If your computer can't handle it, tough. That's a sign that you need to advance to the 21st century buddy. Great graphics, nearly as good gameplay, and although I am disappointed that the multiplayer doesn't add permanent ranks and there are only 2 gameplay modes, they're surprisingly addictive and I have had absolute fun with the Sandbox mode. To run Crysis at its best, you'd definitely have to spend a huge amount of money, but, even running on low or medium setting, it's still an incredibly fun game to play. Crytek have done a great job putting the player in complete control and Crysis is one of the most immersive games I've ever played - with the game's highly open design, and the different nanosuit modes, the player can go about each mission in their own individual way. The early levels were the best, I loved how the game let you approach your objectives from so many angles. Weapon in game customization was handy dandy too.The only thing that brought this game down was the aliens and their levels. They were naught but a bunch of "flying squids with laser guns." I hate to see how bias so many people are against this game. Mostly because they cant comprehend playing on something that is not a game console or their computer is incapable of playing it. I don't see what everyone's complaining about! Honestly, I get almost no lag at all. If you DO get lag, just turn Antialiasing off, you'll barely notice a thing besides your FPS skyrocketing. Smash the wall down and toss him at his friends! They've spotted you in the middle of the road? Go Speed and rush into the bushes. The nanosuit gives you a billion more options - someting or someone on top of you? No problem! Just switch to strength mode and punch it off! The wepon customizing adds a million more layers of awesomeness - Who ever said you can't put a sniper scope on a shotgun? A minor gripe is that the multiplayer mode is extremely innacsessable to newer players, meaning hardcore veterans usually dominate the battlefeild. You can't hold the high system requirements against the game. Sure, the problems some are having with SLI is a notable issue, but that aside, what is not to like? Non-linear game play (with dozens of ways of getting the job done) separates mission objectives and in-game cinematic sequences. Visually the most stunning game of the year. Fun and engaging game that has something for everyone who likes to play a first-person shooter. A cool story, tons of weapons, modifications, vehicles and explosions to blow your mind away. Scalable video settings so slower systems will still be able to play. Scaling is not bad and even includes modes for some terribly poor systems (though I can not imagine who would want to play 800x600 with just about everything turned low/off). Crysis takes the best aspects from games like Battlefield 2, Halo, and Counter-Strike, and adds in superpower-like abilities from your "nanosuit" to make simply the most fun PC gaming experience out there.

Amazing, although the last part of it lets it down quite a bit. Even with the poor final parts this is head and shoulders above the rest of the recent FPS titles out there. Ignore the 'game trolls' and go and get it.

Yes it's the best looking game ever made. And the gameplay? Some of the best ever found in a First Person Shooter. Unbelievably, Crytek has not pandered to the console generation crowd. This is a pure PC FPS in the finest tradition of Far Cry, Stalker, Rainbow Six, Half life, and even Doom. The shooting is hard. If you aren't aiming properly you are going to miss at medium-long ranges. That's what's happening with people that claim it takes a whole clip to take down an enemy. Out of every ten rounds wildly sprayed about will 5 actually hit (probably in the legs and arms), and chances are a silencer is being used, and silencers halve the weapon damage at close range and completely eliminating it at long range. If you want to take down soldiers with COD speed, you need to remove your silencer, go prone, and preferably attach a scope. Then switch to single shot and use maximum strength for good measure to steady your aim. Oh yeah and if your target is moving you have to lead to account for the fact the game models bullet travel time. It's a little more complicated than the run and gun you usually see, and I applaud Crytek for including great feeling shooting mechanics. The AI here sets the bar for all other shooters to come. The sense that you are fighting coordinated enemy squads which flank, retreat and lay down suppressive fire is not reviled anywhere else. By comparison the other big FPS released recently doesn't even seem to do anything but suicide rush. Sure there are bugs, but on Delta prepare to be outsmarted and outfought on a fair basis - you never feel the AI is cheating. The suit powers are amazingly well balanced and supremely useful. Using the mouse button menu to switch powers was a stroke of genius. There is nothing like using maximum speed to run up to a soldier, grab him, and use max strength you throw him off a cliff. Pure unadulterated awesome sauce. The linear sections of the endgame perhaps don't have the sense of gameplay innovation that the first 2/3rds do, but this is made up with some incredible environments and enemies which I don't want to spoil. Storywise . . . well it's no HL2 or Stalker, and it never claimed to be. The story is unpretentious, workmanlike and does its job motivating you and keeping you on track. The only other game in recent memory that comes close to Crysis is Stalker, with its open environments and incredible atmosphere. Both are masterpieces, but Stalker's initial bugs hold it back from being my GOTY pick. Ultimately, as others have stated, Crysis like no other game offers you a blank canvas on which you can paint your unique brand of mayhem and destruction. With Crysis your creativity is the limiting factor. Expand

Has all the elements I liked from Far Cry, and plenty of new things to check out. The customization of the weapon accessories was great. The addition of tanks and the VTOL was cool. The single player story isn't the most complex but it does a good job of driving you forward. It starts at a nice slower pace and slowly builds to more intense and larger fights. Ending with a massive battle that was quite satisfying. It was also nice to see that unlike Far Cry there was a bit more variety in scenery. Though mostly jungle scenery there's times when it is very different. Expand

As far as Im concerned you could not ask for more when you pay 39.99 at frys and want to show of your computer and push gaming to the next evolution of immersion the you play Crysis, all bantering and whining is irrelevent, this is the future of gaming, play it before everyone else. Also the editor / alien scout physics take replay value up it times ten. You will not be dissappointed, only if your sitting on your thumb the entire gameplay experience. Expand

I am not generally a fan of first person shooters, but i cannot put this game down. It drew me in graphically and kept me due to its dept and story. I personally and going to have to put this game at the top of the list and although i have not finished it yet i have to say the parts i have played i can easily say it is the most fun i have had in a video game since prince of persia: the sands of time, which was my favorite game. I will be playing Crysis for some time to come. Expand

First off in relation to other reviews that if your system isint able to run this game- tough. its not the games or producers fault your pc is outdated. crysis is not for everyone. true. if you even remotely like fps then yes buy it otherwise you will be disappointed. my rating is high because within the boundaries of reality this game achieved a lot. the ai is sometimes clumsy and will stay in the open or leave cover and walk towards you. the acting of the story is similar to what you would see in a movie like swat its decent but forgettable. the graphics are superb as everyone will tell you the physics are realistic as houses come crashing down depending on where they were hit and by what . although i never felt the suit had much of a role in the game you could have more or less won it without the suit even in "armour" mode it was difficult to get close to enemies without dying so it was rare you would be throwing things at them or indeed them at things. despite its flaws crysis remains the best fps we have today its like the best of each other fps finally combined half life, cod, splinter cell, armed assault, buy crysis if and only if you like fps. Truly amazing game. One of the only games that I've ever played where I kept being more and more amazed by it as I played right up until the end. Crytek have struck a winner, and I feel as though every aspect of each level was finely polished. Perfect.

Excellent. Gameplay is wonderfully open, well crafted environments providing many options for each encounter, diversified further by the opportunities allowed by the nanosuit. Controlling the suit and weapon mods was intuitive on the fly, even in the midst of heavy combat. Graphically stunning, more impressively so when taking into account the sweeping vistas beyond the detailed foreground. Compare this with COD4 where the environment is largely urban, the draw distance therefore much shorter. Unfortunately the game does not live up to its true potential on DX9, and is hampered by the recognized performance issues of Vista if running on DX10. Be wary of reviews moaning about graphics issues, render problems etc, on a properly specced, drivered machine, the game runs very clean, surprisingly so. Crysis has the fun of full control of every combat encounter, reminiscent of the potential of Deus Ex 1, well engineered, engaging fire fights (if you choose to play them as such), and finally outstanding eye candy throughout. 1. Destined to be a classic, Crysis is a creative and technological marvel that eclipses every other shooter released this year. [Holiday 2007, p.60]
  2. Crysis thrives on putting the onus on you to create your own brand of action and adventure in its stunningly beautiful locations. You and the game can haphazardly create moments of such gaming brilliance that often you pretty much have to stand up and applaud. [Christmas 2007, p.44]

This is some fast, well designed gameplay with enough options to allow players to use their own style of attack with satisfying suit abilities and weapons. Crytek has upped their attention to detail in presentation and dropped the worst parts of "Far Cry’s" story.
