  1. So drink some Tequila at the bar and have a think about whether a slow-paced tactical squad RTS set in the Wild West is really for you.

The clumsy control scheme and passive AI are the two biggest frustrations we had with the sequel and while they weren't enough to completely kill the magic of the setting, they came damn close.
  3. Despite some attractive visuals, Desperados 2 is burdened by lame artificial intelligence and some very frustrating missions.
  4. The game is so cliché ridden that it is not even funny like Doc’s snarl and eye patch or the theme music you have heard in about every western on TV or at the movies.
  5. What scuppers a lot of the enjoyment here is the flakey artificial intelligence of the enemies and the sheer willpower needed to persist through many of the technical glitches.

Desperados 2 looks a bit dated, and the AI is basic 'search if you're heard, attack if you're seen.' However, it's still enjoyable - and with the effort comes a grumbling sense of achievement. [July 2006, p.89]
  7. If someone will ever be able to re-establish this kind of games, to make them deliver the kind of fun I’ve had with all the games that preceded Desperados 2, then I’ll clearly admit it and promote it. Until then, all I can tell you is to stay away from this game.

Confusing, often nonsensical execution, and a bit slow on the draw. [June 2006, p.91]

Even though the presentation is fine does the god-awful AI and boring mission design prevent you from having any kind of fun in this game. I can forgive a lot of things in video games but the AI in this game is so down right ridiculous that any kind of stealth and action is ruined. Full Review »

Being able to switch between multiple characters with different abilities at the same time was so beast at the time. The problem was that the action wasn't too convincing. Full Review »

The game is a step backwards to the original game. The 'action-mode' isn't fun and the AI isn't how it has to be... The game is a step backwards to the original game. The 'action-mode' isn't fun and the AI isn't how it has to be... Sometimes an enemy gets shot and an other doesn't notices and the other times my character hides in a corner and the enemies find him without they have seen of heard anything. Full Review »
