In Guardians of the Light, the Empire is decaying from within as self-proclaimed rulers struggle for control of the now vacant throne while a cruel Inquisition sweeps across the human lands, causing rebellion and misery. Meanwhile the Clans, recovering from their near-destruction, begin to reunite their tribes. Its attention to detail, exciting gameplay, immersive graphics and wonderful soundtrack make the game a great buy.
  2. Guardians of the Light broadens the scope of its predecessor but isn’t overly friendly to newer players.
  3. I was particularly impressed with the polished depth and quality combined with the relatively low system requirements. That is a rarity these days.

It does add some new campaigns and story and even a couple of new features, but I can't tell you that this expansion pack is a great deal for fans of the game or beginners due to its price and lack of new and substantial gameplay additions.
  5. On its own merits, this expansion is a reasonably good deal, but it's best suited for the hard-core Disciples II fan who wishes to play every single official scenario for the game.

The new campaigns take advantage of a larger supported map size, allowing for longer and more complicated scenarios. [Oct 2003, p.117]

Teases more than pleases. It feels like half of what a good expansion should be, but at the same time is a great buy for those new to the series.
