AAfter the fiasco of D3: Renaissance and Resurrection, comes D3: Reincarnation... The abysmal critics of the previous titles kept me away. A sale-off on steam together with positive feedback from the community hub convinced me to give it a try. Frankly I did not have high expectations, but to my surprise this game was more than I expected.

D3: Reincarnation stays true to D2, but runs on a visually appealing environment. The engine and the combat mechanics are now running smoothly. The game difficulty on hard is pretty tough, not because the AI is so bright, but due to the sheer level difference of the encounters. However, the D3 mechanics allows lots of room for strategy maneuvers (similarly to D2); meaning you will be facing challenges that will get you entangled. The learning curve is surely steep, but having played D2 helps very much. So far I have played 26h and I am looking forward to play more.

The environment and the atmosphere are gothic staying true to D2. The story is not memorable, but surely is sufficient to get things moving.

During my playing I encountered some balance issues, and a game-breaking bug (basically, if you re-load you can cast spells more than once per day). In addition the lighting in some dungeons is poorly designed making it hard to read your screen. Furthermore, the glow effect around the active unit is not sufficient; meaning often it is hard to tell, which unit is moving. After a couple of hours you will probably get used to most of the deficiencies, but this does not mean it's working as it should!

D3: reincarnation is the game version, which D3 should had been back in 2010. Overall the game is good and is strongly recommended to D2 fans; especially after installing community mods!
