Enjoying Dominions II involves marshalling the power of your imagination to breathe life into all the detail, which is what gaming is all about when it was played on tabletops. If you accept this basic premise, there's no fantasy game more epic, varied, and vivid than Dominions II. [Feb 2004, p.82]
A deep, engrossing strategy game with a steep learning curve. Should be in any fantasy strategy gamer’s collection.
The real draw is the depth of the game. This is not a title for the casual turn-based strategic gamer. This is a title that requires thought, patience and a solid foundation in the game mechanics.
If you’re trying to learn the game from the manual, you might be in for a slow time. However, once you get the basics of how the game is played, you’re going to be in for a treat.
If you can get past the faults of the interface and almost complete lack of guidance, there actually is an interesting game underneath it all.
A game that offers tremendous depth but also has an unwieldy user interface and a prodigious amount of micromanagement.
