Mar 14, 2012The games are just as amazing as they were when originally released. The problem is that, while the box says it now works functionally on Windows XP/Vista/7, it's lying. This game collection does not function properly on any of those Windows. Upon contact Atari, they told me that I should downgrade my Windows version in order to make for a more enjoyable play experience. Sadly I'm going to have to drop the rating to a 7 for that kind of pathetic customer service.
I'm running two Alienwares with top of the line specs. One is running in Seven, one is running in XP as well. My drivers are fully updated. I can assure you there's no such thing as these games working perfectly on a system with these versions of Windows. But just to make sure I'm not crazy I tested White's theory by taking the discs to three friends homes (you don't need a registry code or disc to play these once they're installed). One friend is using XP on a very old set of hardware. One is playing on Vista with 2010ish hardware and the other was on a new XPS laptop with Windows 7.
On all three systems the spell graphics in Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate would crash their system. Don't go auto-believing what White has said. Slap it on your computer and watch the fireworks yourself.… Expand
Mar 9, 2012Ok, just to comment on Gaea's Review, I have an XP box and a Win7 box and all games work perfectly on both. So Gaea, saying that they don't work on any of these platforms is bunk. Just make sure you have all your drivers up to date. So I think saying that these games are timeless and near perfection is a given. This great collection is the best 20 bucks you'll ever spend on a long, deeply engrossing RPG experience. I'd have gladly paid $100.00. Seriously. KUDOS to Atari for releasing this!!… Expand
