Fantastic game that I've spent hundeds of hours in. Exploring the stars and planets of deep space, finding hidden secrets, and ultimately deciding your fate and who you work for, this game was ahead of its time and still shines as an icon on the space sim genre.
It's a great game. It's kind of an open-world single-player RPG in space. It's Like fallout 3, but 2D, in space. You can do missions or kill baddies to collect credits to upgrade your weapons and your ship. No cutscenes or linear crap. It's an open world to explore.
This game is wonderful! If your looking for a space-trader sim then look no further! It's balance between combat and trading is truly one of a kind. It has a deep feel of what it might actually be like starting out with a bottom-of-the-line ship and working towards a top-class ship! Whether by taking up missions or being a space trader. Of course nothing beats getting a ship and completely destroying everyone and then taking their cargo. Space pirate for the win!
An undeniable cult classic - while not without some frustrating mechanics (i.e. getting soft-locked out of questlines/mission strings), this game defies its age and humble origins to stand the test of time and remain a thoroughly enjoyable experience, even 20 years after its initial release. While not easily played on modern computers, EV Nova is an incredibly unique game with a high, albeit rewarding, learning curve. A truly outstanding game.
SummaryThe third game in the Escape Velocity series features space trading, ship customization, and overhead 2D combat reminiscent of classic PC games like Starflight and Star Control.
