Eufloria is a pleasant looking game with a very nice soundtrack. If that's all you're looking for then you'll be very happy with your purchase. But as a strategy game it's very lacking. The game plays like this: You grow a tree. The tree releases seeds that you then send to neighboring asteroids to defeat any enemy seeds and trees that may be there. After you defeat the enemies, you can sacrifice a few of your seeds to plant a new tree or two, which then grows you more seeds to use to conquer the next asteroid. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. There are some basic strategy elements such as selecting the proper offensive unit type (high strength, speed, or energy) for the enemy that you're fighting as well as the ability to plant defensive trees but that's about it. And to make matters worse, you'll often find yourself in need of high strength seeds with only one tree growing them, forcing you to wait around for about an hour until you have sufficient seeds to use. Another glaring omission in this game is the inability to remove trees you've already planted in order to grow a new type of tree. I can only guess that in a game with such a "green friendly" premise, pulling out the old chainsaw would have been considered poor taste. If this game was priced at $5 or less, those flaws could be overlooked. At it's core, Eufloria is beautifully rendered and has excellent ambiance. It's a very relaxing game which is always a nice change of pace. But at its current $20 price tag I find it to be severely lacking in both form and depth and can't recommend that anyone waste their money on it. Pretty colors and music does not make a game enjoyable. Too bad that the developers didn't understand that, or else this game might have been great. Expand

Eufloria redefines the meaning of low-price game with it's beautiful graphics and addictive, long story mode.

This is a decent game for me. While the start got me sucked in with the thought of quick-paced action in a very strategic way. I was however disappointed as it turned into a 30 second rush to get as many unclaimed rocks, then a 10 minute wait to build up a ludicrous force, then 2 minutes for a nice steamrolling. If you want a good game though, Phage Wars on Armor games will get you the same basics, along with a much faster paced level set. TL;DR VERSION: Decent game, but I have seen flash games with the same or better capabilities. Expand

Great game if you ask me, I don't see why so many critics didn't like it.

A wonderful passive game that rewards patience, so it's enjoyable while watching something else or conversing with a friend. Smooth graphics and a nice ambient soundtrack to keep it ultra casual. Feels a lot like FLOW for the PSP, but with more strategy. Super easy to relax on this one.

well first i thought its boring, but after a while playing and after i got used to the controls, i started liking it. the first 9 levels are kinda just -> get enough units-> rush enemy. after that the enemies and levels get a bit more tricky. once you complete the "campain" there are a lot of additional maps and missions to play, you can also create your own. the music is good and calm the design as well. all together a very relaxing game. 14,99€ might be a bit much, but i think its worth it. if youre not sure, try getting it in an indie bundle for less money. This is definitely a late-night game to play while watching a movie. It takes little to no concentration to play it (and therefore will receive little to no concentration from the player). If you decide you want to just sit back, chill, and let your brain melt, then this is a game for you.

I can't understand why critics had so many mixed opinions. To my mind, this is one of those games which is a complete concept, and nothing is to be added, removed, or altered. It has solid style, simple idea, gameplay with great tactical possibilities, and also it can be very addictive. Absolutely great game, and it is even more amazing that two people created such a polished product.

One of my favorite games. You can pick how you like to play..If you like rush strategy, you can play that way; if you like to wait it out and mass your forces, you can play that way too. I like the flexibility of the strategic choices that are offered while you're playing. It's a very easy game to get into, and each level (for me) takes 30 - 90 minutes to complete. The game has elegant, clean graphics that look professional, yet simple, and the soundtrack, while not something you'd listen to in your car, is very soft and fitting for the game. It may seem like an absurd idea to think about getting trees, seeds, and flowers to fight for resources in space, but the concept is very original and it works unexpectedly well. Not sure why the critics don't like it more. It's not meant to replace games like Command & Conquer or Starcraft, which are faster-paced and much more complex. The point of the game is simplicity. I will also say that after the recent update, the A.I. does have some interesting tricks. For anyone that likes a slower-paced RTS without the complexities of typical RTS games, try Eufloria. I have to admit, however, that $20.00 is a little bit pricey. I purchased the game when it was on sale, so I have no complaints. To anyone interested in buying on Steam, this game will probably go on sale multiple times a year. Just wait for it. Expand

10.0 Beautiful, simple, strategic, poetic, intelligent... A very good game. No need of strong hardware... I'd like that game editors take in account about my review :)

Bland and repetitive gameplay. The game started out stunningly beautiful, until you realize there's not much more than that. Typical strategy game, got it for the cheap so I can't complain.

this game is quite fun, there may be times of repetitiveness but extra features such as the lazer mine keeps things mixed up and more unpredictable. overall, it's pretty nice

  1. Eufloria is tough, but not impossible, to love. You may have to fight through (or altogether ignore) the campaign mode to get to the good stuff, and even then you may spend more time waiting and micromanaging than you'd like, but I can't possibly deny the strength of Eufloria's most basic design choices.
  2. It's a beautiful, thoughtful curiosity. But somewhere in getting at the essence of strategy gaming, Eufloria has become a sketch, a distraction, a showcase, and a toy: it's an experience that you'll enjoy, rather than a coherent and satisfying game.
  3. Pleasant enough, but it feels like little more than a glorified iPhone game. [Christmas 2009, p.95]
