  1. Rather good game, but it does not live up to EU2. Some nice aspects and abilities are available that weren't present in EU2, but overall it's not quite there yet. And I miss the good old 2D maps they used to have... 3D is really not necessary at all... Expand

  2. Very mixed feelings. They had tried go deeper into the history aspects and they failed miserably. The new possibilities of gameplay (the Empire, the papacy, dynasty politics, etc.), interesting at first, are in fact so poorly implemented they just spoil the game. Different regimes don't work how they supposed to work, army organisation is truly one big random-fest, trade is less significant than in EU2. Provinces' borders and their characteristics are from outer space, guess the developer never had a good map atlas in his hands. The diplomacy is disappointing, if they're trying to push the whole game more into realism, why do they leave diplomacy almost untouched? The more simplistic EU2 played better and its history appeal was just an addition. An ambitious EU3, although pretty entertaining at some moments, fails miserably with its parade of nonsense. Graphics are uneven. Great far view political maps and others, but zoomed and without thematic layers is unplayable and awful. The music is very good, on the other hand. It's a mediocre game, if you liked previous EU, there's a big chance you will like a complete edition of EU3, like I did. Just don't look at the historical background they served us. Expand
