  • Summary: Echoes of Faydwer is the fourth expansion pack for EverQuest II and the first EQII expansion pack with content for beginners to high-level players (Levels 1 – 70). This expansion introduces a new playable race, The Fae, an enchanted race of winged creatures. The Fae dwell on the continent of Faydwer, in the arboreal city of Kelethin, the new starting city being added to new chapter in the EQII saga. Echoes of Faydwer includes over 350 new quests, a new selection of profession hats, cloaks, armor, and new horse mounts available to players of all levels. EQII players will encounter over 40 new types of creatures to face, more than 20 new zones and adventure areas, and will be able to compete against other players for new PvP (Player vs. Player) rewards, plus all-new items, equipment, spells and tradeskill recipes. The Achievement system introduced in the Kingdom of Sky expansion has been enhanced to include additional sub-class abilities, allowing players to further customize their characters' abilities. I honestly can't dish out enough praise to the SOE dev team for how far above and beyond they went with this one; Echoes of Faydwer is the epitome of what a classic expansion should be and is easily among 2006's best releases.
  2. Everquest II has come a long way since its original launch. With Faydwer and other recent enhancements, though, it's pulled alongside "World of Warcraft" in the race to be an MMO for everyone. [Mar 2007, p.68]
  3. A nice package with solid upgrades and great new lands to explore. Echoes of Faydwer does what an expansion should, right down the line.
  4. As attractive as it is bolstered with new content - everyone from hardcore trade-skillers to constant raiders to newbies are catered for. [Feb 2007, p.83]
  5. The expansion also adds Tinkering, which allows you to make new items, and Transmuting, which allows you to add additional features to existing items.
  6. Even if you don’t intend to switch from playing some other MMO, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of a seven day stint in Faydwer.
  7. Technical issues aside, it is a game that has matured, grown, and evolved, and I recommend checking it out.

The BEST expansion of all time for ANY MMO. This is the expansion that really re-launched EQ2 and made it the excellent game that it is today.

Expand

Simply the best expansion I have ever seen for any MMO. The world builders have shown incredible talent by creating a single zone which leads you from level 1 to level 20 without becoming boring or confusing. Expand

EQ2 is fast becoming the MMO of choice for people wanting to play something other than WoW. With regular expansions, adventure packs and live updates, coupled with a good development team, there is always something to do for all styles of play - casual to hard core raider. This expansion is the best one so far, introducing a new race, content for all levels of play, 2 new crafting professions (transmuting and tinkering) - these are the main things that stand out. The musical score and art are excellent - with the art team having a strong direction now (at launch there wasn't good art direction). This expansion pack is a great time for new players to jump on too as it includes the basic game and the previous two expansions. Try it out, you won't regret it. Expand

This game is stunningly beautiful with advanced hardware (and this doenst mean all-over-the-top components - I run it on an amd 64 3500, 2 GB RAM and an ati x1900xt). Shadows and animation bring life to the world. The sound enhances the immersion as most of the people really speak to you. Caracter advancement is very motivating as the achievement point system leads to new choices with each point. Many new abilities are locked free level by level, so there are lots of things to toy around with. No game is perfect, but this one here should get a lot more attention (yes, I played wow, and thats a good game too, but my choice is Everquest 2 quite clearly). Expand
