The year of development shaped Rise of Kunark into an admirable expansion. Even though PVP content is largely ignored and midrange characters will level elsewhere, it's apparent that SOE's finally hatched an add-on that puts a shine on the entire game.

As with the previous expansions, there's nothing here that will convince you the EverQuest II is worth playing if you've already decided to pass on it. But for players who are looking to extend the life of a game they already love, Kunark offers lots of amazing diversions.
  3. With all things taken into account, Rise of Kunark provides the most comprehensive EverQuest II experience and offers a great deal to both new and veteran players.
  4. Strangers to the series interested in a new MMO won’t be as impressed with new updates and content as a seasoned EQII veteran, and will be offset by EQII’s dated appearance and design. However, EQII fans can’t go wrong with Rise of Kunark as it’s by far the best one yet.

I started playing the summer after eq2 came out, i was stunned by the graphics and gameplay however lost interest multiple times and came back to try the expansions, the pvp was horrible but has comeback with vengence, and great balance. The Expansion RoK opens up new awesome looking areas, for all levels and up the level cap to 80. This expansion i think has brought me back for good. Visuals, New huntinggrounds, and character balance has been improved greatly, and theres tons of new gear to get, indefinetly the best expansion yet. :D (*Coughs* Fairys suck *coughs*) Expand

A new player can expect explore the new towns, cities, and wilderness with adventure parties of players. Meeting new friends to journey with is easy to do in this new addition of EQ2. The daily player base is vast and the people you meet are loyal and courageous. PVP servers are very active and the combat will have you on the edge of your seat. Finding a party of players to head into the dangerous lands or to fight players is always just a few key strokes away. Just head into the cities and assemble your teams with the classes you wish to fight in your group. Player classes are diverse and the population is great in eq2. A well rounded group will sure find victory and glory on the battle field against players of the other cities and the inhabitants of the lands. With 6 types of Fighters, 6 Scouts, 6 Mages and 6 Priests Player classes are second to none in any MMO. Look up the classes available in EQ2 if you want to see a outstanding class set in any MMO I have ever seen. 24 in total, all very unique. Also the ability to fight on mounts like horses, magic carpets, rhinos, and wear wolfs. Fight in raid vs raid on pvp servers is very exciting. 24 players vs. 24 players all fighting and clashing swords or casting massive spells. Raid instances for 24 players and 12 players are included in RoK, as well as the solo raid mobs found in the back of huge zones at random. EQ2 is very graphical and the ability to tax even dual 8800 cards on max graphics in a raid setting. Enough said EQ2 rocks. Expand

Visually stunning and packed full of challenging adventure and well-written quests, this expansion delivers a quality gameplay experience for high-level players. You can tell a lot of TLC went into this expansion! Expand

Too much questing and not enough group instances and group zones in this expansion. Difficulty and strategy for most named encounters is beyond the skill of your average group of players. Not enough flexibility in forming instance groups. Raid zones are almost entirely single mob encounters, with almost no group mob encounters in the game. Could have been a lot better if they'd done more of what they did in Echoes of Faydwer. Expand
