Fans of the books and the series will be thrilled, as all the classic features are here: multi-faceted characters, schemes, betrayals, incest, twists and genuine anti-heroes that seek redemption desperately, but in vain. [July 2012]

If not for its poor technical execution, Game of Thrones would have taken its rightful place in the 80+ range.

If you're a fan of 'A Song of Fire and Ice' (or HBO's series), get this game, as it tells a great new story set in Westeros and co-created by Martin. [August 2012, p.74]

A good story gets swallowed by a lot of bad gameplay. It's a shame really, since Martin's amazing novels would make a great game in the right hands. [June 2012]

There's no denying that Game of Thrones will test your tolerance. There are so many negative idiosyncrasies and cost-cutting measures in place that you'll probably start to wonder when the game will just fall part entirely. But it never actually does. In fact, it stays on course to deliver a compelling parallel narrative to the opening book and HBO series, with characters as morally ambiguous and events just as horrific as any from Martin's pages.

It really comes down to what the player expects or wants from the experience. If you are a fan of the show/books and you simply want to inhabit two random men as they make their way through the Game of Thrones universe, this fits the bill quite nicely.

Casual players won't clearly be amazed by the graphics offered by Game of Thrones. As regards the RPG players, the ones that could spend entire nights playing, they will be happy to find intuitive game mechanics. The tactical aspects of fight sequences are also really enjoyable to learn and the players' choice are well-embedded in the story, faithful to the saga. This is what truly matters.

Game of Thrones creates mixed feelings in the player. Story-wise it's a true gem. The protagonists' fates are very interesting and all the events expand and at the same time fit perfectly into George R.R. Martin's brutal universe. Unfortunately - in order to see the finale you have to endure hundreds of monotonous fights with an interesting, but flawed fighting mechanic.

If you've played through The Witcher 2 and are hankering for another similar experience, and don't mind a budget-feeling title, then Game of Thrones is well worth considering.

Despite a really good, well written story, Game of Thrones certainly hasn't had the means to offer high quality graphics. Unfortunately, there are also some heartbreaking mistakes in its gameplay, and a big lack of content. In short, you will buy this game only for its superb story, which is some kind of masterpiece for a video game.

Far from the RPG that Game of Thrones deserves, but still better than its components have the right to be. [Sept 2012, p.58]

The combat is boring but fans of the series should take a look to Game of Thrones because the storyline will keep them playing until the end.

Martin's world deserves better than this. [July 2012, p.64]

It takes a lot of patience, curiosity and dedication to the A Song of Ice and Fire universe to get over all the problems that undermine the game and enjoy its only quality: the story. Perhaps some fans will feel it's worth the effort, but most RPG gamers will want to skip this disappointing tie-in.

Play this game only if you know A Game of Thrones novel and also if you are willing to forgive that the game hasn't been made properly at all. Only then you are going to be captivated by a thrilling and well-made story with the power to make up all the negative aspects. Simply, Game of Thrones is all about its content, not its form.

The game manages to offer a well-constructed tale of revenge and betrayal in the style of the franchise, but technically is poor, with a combat system that has had its day.

Excursion to the world of popular fantasy saga is an unconvincing – the good story itself can not save the rest of this bugged and visually average game. [June 2012]

A sloppy piece of work that doesn't do justice to the series or to its fans. I'm not even sure fans of the series will enjoy this one. I certainly didn't.

It tries at every step to be interesting, innovative and intriguing, but the flawed and boring combat system and the abysmal graphics drag down the good plot. A Game of Thrones is viable only for the true fans of the series. The forgiving kind.

A weak storyline along with poor gameplay design and constant cut-scenes make the transition of George R.R. Martinʼs book to the videogame world a bland one.

The Game of Thrones video game takes a while to get going, but perseverance is rewarded with an engaging story full of tough choices and interesting dilemmas. Unfortunately, the plot is let down by poor storytelling, sloppy visuals and mediocre gameplay, despite a relatively deep combat system.

Once again a Game of Thrones-game disappoints, because the last Game of Thrones-game by Cyanide was also average at best. This role playing game lacks any polish, looks amateurish and lacks a good enough story arc to remain interesting. Even for diehard fans of Game of Thrones we can't recommend this.

hugely underrated.best story in a video game. the combat is a poorly-executed version of Dragon Age: Origin's, and is the major drawback here. but if you can overlook this, you'll have a lot of fun. Full Review »

There are certainly issues with the game that show it was rushed. The controls are a bit clunky, the graphics are a tad outdated, and the combat is boring and repetitive. But the story IS very good, the game captures the atmosphere of the books and the tv show, and the characters introduced in the game are memorable. I'd say this game is worth a play if you are a fan of the books and/or the tv show, but not if you aren't... Full Review »
