  1. Of drive-in movie reviewer Joe Bob Brigg's infamous three B's, Giants' developers in a politic move took out two (Blood and Breasts). The third, Beasts, is still enough to carry the game, though the addition of a fourth B—Bugs—is certainly regrettable.
  2. I've played some dandies in the last few months, and the competition out there is stiff, but Giants sends them all running for cover. Get it now. The highest score I've given out here at PC Gameworld.
  3. A great game. The humour is consistent right from the start and nearly always borders on ridiculous, which is a nice parry to the action.

Even with its bugs, Giants is still one of the most creative, innovative, and entertaining games I've played in years.
  5. 91
This game is a riot, start to finish, and multiplayer is especially entertaining. The game's few flaws can ideally be corrected with the aforementioned patch.
  6. The truly unique premise, coupled with stunning graphics and exciting gameplay, makes Giants: Citizen Kabuto one of the best action games in years.
  7. The gameplay differences between each species make this one of the most innovative games to come out in awhile.
  8. Vibrant, sharp, and pretty are just a few adjectives that may sum up my final thoughts on the game's sound and appearance… And it all goes perfectly well with the offbeat nature of the game -- the edgy attitude, and the genuinely funny Pythonesque dialogue.
  9. The key thing that kept me playing and happy was the story. I really enjoyed the dialog and plot more than anything else. If there is one game you want to play for comedy Giants is it. The story doesn't have much depth and it does taper off towards the end, but while you have it, it is obscenely funny.
  10. Fantastic and beautiful third-person action among three races, with a wonderful sense of humor.
  11. Giants Citizen Kabuto has great central characters, choice camera angles, and a nice shooter perspective. But while the terrain elements are wonderful, the enemy (and enemy AI) is simplistic.
  12. This is a game to be played for hours on end. And if you can find me a hack that allows me to save the game whenever I wish, I will recommend you for a Knighthood!
  13. If it wasn't so buggy, allowed for mid-mission saves, and had better multiplayer support, it would rate much higher. As it stands, though, it will be a labor of love for some, a frustrating burden for others.
  14. Alternately frantic, considered and hilarious; utterly gorgeous throughout and outstandingly innovative. Absolutely essential.
  15. 100
It sucks you into its weird world and doesn't let you go.
  16. I cherish every moment I spent with Giants, and recommend it to friends with an eagerness I usually reserve for must-see movies or trips abroad.
  17. Possibly the biggest strike against Giants, though, is that much of the gameplay is, well, kind of boring.
  18. It is innovative, it is humorous, it is intense, and most of all, it's a heck of a lot of fun.
  19. It's a pity such an immersive and gorgeous endeavor is plagued by so many unnecessary bugs.
  20. A shooter/strategy hybrid full of weird British humor, unique and beautiful 3D graphics, and naked lady sea monsters. [Feb 2003, p.94]
  21. Yeah, Giants has its flaws, but it's one of the most competent -- and clever -- action games we've laid our hands on,
  22. What sets this game apart from the rest is the variety in the gameplay, which combines RTS with shooter, as well as the fact that you get to play three distinct races, each with completely different abilities.
  23. 80
A technically devastating graphics engine, the funniest script in computer games history, and a soupcon of strategy, together with imaginative and variety packed action.
  24. There's lots of entertainment here, if you're the patient type. [Mar 2001, p.64]
  25. 100
It offers more of everything you'd expect and then some -- gorgeous graphics, incredible animations, visceral sound effects, terrific cut scenes, wild weapons, unique characters (wise-cracking Brits, a diaphanously dressed magical sea nymph, and a towering giant), and deadly enemies with effective AI.
  26. This is a good game with a lot of depth, variation in gameplay and fantastic visuals. It's got a funny story and likeable characters.
  27. Put simply, the gameplay is fun, although the game is so short -- due largely to the shoddy, easily manipulated AI -- that some players will feel somewhat robbed.

Especially the base building mechanics in the game, paired with the way you destroy the enemies base.
Kind a wish there was a Giants 2

It looked gorgeous with the introductory pan over the island with the sun in the background and all the great sun flares. Then I played the game and it was absolutely sensational. It was a quirky, beautiful, unbelievably fun experience with great challenges and a game where an RTS and FPS combination was pulled off perfectly. I really don't understand why there was never a second one made. Full Review »

This is one of the best games I've every played. Good graphics and rip roaring dialogue will keep you chuckling through the game. During the game you will play as all three races, and each are wildly different and entertaining. I enjoyed the base buliding levels, and enjoyed defending my little city. But nothing beats walking around as Kabuto, and watching him grow bigger and bigger. Its loads of fun to eat any critter that moves, but extra juicy fun to skewer them on your horns for a convenient snack. Destruction has never been so much fun. Full Review »
