Players become Harry Potter and delve not only into Harry's world, but also into his personality, via an internal "voice." Conversing with unique characters like Moaning Myrtle, shopping in Diagon Alley, and exploring the convoluted corridors of Hogwarts, players make crucial and independent decisions within Harry's world. Additionally, Harry can, of course, cast spells against foes - but these spells must be perfectly executed, or they could be miscast with humorous or critical consequences! Mini-games within levels can be revisited, so players can help Mrs. Weasley with "de-gnoming" her garden, challenge other students in Professor Lockhart's Dueling Club, or complete other mini-games again and again. The console games have more detail and are curiously a little more humorous than the PC version with some additional activities taking place, but even after all that, we enjoyed it immensely.
  2. Clare (aged 10) says: I like the game a lot. Jumping over big gaps or on to moving things is a bit hard so I turned on auto jump, which made it a lot easier. Learning spells is pretty easy.

Potter fans will love this game and anyone hankering for a decent action/adventure that we haven't seen since American McGee's "Alice" may just find this will hold them over until Mr. McGee's next big release.
  4. Whether roaming the halls of Hogwarts, or stepping into the options to play a Quidditch match, the game does have entertainment at its heart.
  5. For the child around you, or the child within you, and any fan of the Potter series, Chamber comes highly recommended.

It may be a little short for some - you'll probably finish it in under 10 hours - but god kows there are worse licensed games. [Feb 2003, p.77]
  7. Harry Potter may posses a certain charm that transcends the generation gap, but don’t expect this game to weave the same magic.

This game is very lengthy and follows the story well. It features improvements to the Sorcerer's Stone, such as new spells, improved graphics, and moving mouths. The game is fairly challenging too. My only problem is that the character design is really bad. The characters just look awful. The creatures and ghouls look great, but the characters, bleh. Overall, great game. One of the better game adaptations of movies. Expand

The game itself is fairly straightforward and enjoyable, despite it's short length, and minimal replayability. One of the reasons that I found most frustrating though, was the inconsistent difficulty of this game. At several points through the game, I felt very unprepared for whatever event was about to occur. Also, the controls do feel uncomfortable at times, and the graphics are below average. For a novel/movie adaptation though, it isn't half bad. Expand
