There is nothing wrong at all with this expansion. In fact, it adds enough functionality and playability that it certainly warrants the purchase. The only downside is that the functionality that you gain from this game is entirely available in the next expansion set, Tribes of the East, which means that literally the only reason to buy this game is for its single player campaign becauseThere is nothing wrong at all with this expansion. In fact, it adds enough functionality and playability that it certainly warrants the purchase. The only downside is that the functionality that you gain from this game is entirely available in the next expansion set, Tribes of the East, which means that literally the only reason to buy this game is for its single player campaign because everything else is readily available (and then some) in the expansion. With that said, the single player campaign is better than in Heroes 5- each one in the series gets gradually better and better. So yes, this is a great expansion, but everything in it is available in the next game too. Expand

The DLC's better than original Heroes V. It has got proper atmosphere, interesting company mode and those views! I stumbled on few glitches though. Dwarfs are awesome!

With only one new faction and a smattering of new gameplay options, Hammers of Fate feels more like a small-scale mission pack than a full-fledged expansion. You'll get a good fifteen to twenty hours out of the campaign but it's not any better than the user-created content that's already available for free.

Remains a pretty and obscure artifact of narrow gaming tastes. [Jan 2007, p.92]
  3. Heroes V still comes recommended to strategy gamers, and Hammers of Fate slickly integrates more good ideas into the game. There’s no reason not to like this expansion pack.
