- Summary: Wear the suit of the ultimate assassin, you have the ability to blend into plain sight, kill with your bare hands and fashion a weapon from almost anything. You are Agent 47, the world's most effective killer.
Nov 19, 2012A follow-up that doesn't disappoint. What's more - it's simply a great game that should appeal to the veterans of the series (they can stop worrying about their favorite bald-headed assassin), as well to those players about to meet Agent 47 for the first time. The finished product is not only very complex, but extremely playable thanks to great freedom and rich content that provide high quality fun for hours.
Feb 6, 2013Despite the deviations and minor shortcomings, it remains true to its roots. It just brushes them aside for a while, just long enough for it to tell its story- a story where the traditional contracts and other usual components just wouldn’t fit. [January 2013]
Nov 27, 2012The campaign has some weaknesses pertaining to the story and the maps, which are a bit too small for their own good. Also, I would have liked a few more clever kills and more options to follow through on my insidious plans. All in all, though, this is a typical Hitman game with quite some technical chops and solid gameplay.
Nov 21, 2012Absolution shows the developer is capable of presenting Hitman's systems with a previously-unknown cinematic gravitas without resorting to scripting and cutscenes. Yet, the majority of Absolution sacrifices its full potential for the wrong kind of storytelling.
Nov 23, 2012I know it is probably getting to sound redundant by now but I am a series Hitman fan. I've played every one and had tons of fun with every title. I played the Sniper Challenge to DEATH got all the challenges. Anyways I honestly say this game is amazing in almost every aspect. Yes they have taken some things out, adjusted some things and changed the way disguises work. Out of all they have changed the only thing that is really a stickler is way disguises work. Now I won't go into it too much because by now everyone knows how it works now, but to defend the change just a little bit it makes the game even MORE challenging especially on the harder difficulty settings. Personally I love a game that challenges me and this is one of those games. To complete the challenges on any said one level of single player your looking at INSANE re-playability. Heck I believe it took me around 7 hours to get every challenge on the Chinatown level. Contracts is very addictive and fresh in its own right, just the vast amount of options that can be created is astonishing. You can have up to three targets and each target can have their own specific way to eliminate, such as method of kill and the disguise you wear to kill them. You will find yourself playing these multiple times just to figure out each kill then trying to string them together in the fastest time possible. Overall Hitman has been dormant for a loong time now and the release of this is a COMPLETE breath of fresh air among the endless tide of FPS titles and FPS franchise sequels that are almost always too afraid to be bold and mix things up. Bottom line if you are or were a fan of any of these Hitman games I strongly recommend getting this one.… Expand
Nov 23, 2012After having played the first few levels, I was
very disappointed. Almost everything I loved about the previous
Hitman seems to have gone. The exploration of sandbox
stages and finding interesting ways to perform the kill in a world
full of possibilities. Here I have to infiltrate buildings and evade stuff through
segmented and pretty linear levels. I hated
it at first and as a classic Hitman game this one deserves
something around 4/10.
But it would unfair to condemn Absolution, because as game
it's really good. The control and gunfights have been improved
considerably. Visually and artistically its stunning, even
on older cards like my gtx260. All those little conversations
among enemies create a dense atmosphere. Many claim the
disguise system is broken. At first I thought that too, but
its not. It just takes time (and good will) to adjust to the pretty merciless mechanic, especially on higher difficulty settings.
Despite all the strengths this tile has, I seriously hope
IO reconsider their design approach for future Hitman games.… Expand
Dec 23, 2012The detection system sucks, you re enemies have ultimate mutant megavision. I strangled a guy in the toilet, no one around, but everyone in the vicinity instantly knew exactly where I was the second he died. It's as if you don't complete things the way the game intends it brands you with a YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG and makes it impossibly hard to finish.
The previous Hitman games kinda gave you a sense of "You are the hitman, take him out as you please"… Expand
Mar 2, 2014The stealth is decent, but the subterfuge is broken. Enemy AI and detection is too inconsistent. Sometimes, enemies are absolute morons, and sometimes, they see through walls. Gameplay doesn't flow all that well, the story is relatively uninteresting, and methods of killing tend to be either obvious and streamlined, or ridiculously obscure and complex. Absolution goes to bad extremes, when it should be aiming for balance. It's got nice design, a cool concept, and even motivates me to look more into this series, but overall Absolution just isn't worth the time or money.… Expand
Apr 29, 2013The Hitman you knew is gone.
Be prepared for an ordinary Cover-based stealth shooter that is very linear and with a silly story. They really cheated me this time, by putting the enticing label of Hitman on there, and giving me this uninspired, linear and braindead stealth-shooter, where you're basically not even doing hitman-work. The freedom of earlier games is completely gone, disguises are tacked on and dont work like they should, gameplay elements seem to work against eachother. Broken checkpoint-saves. You're mostly just going door to door instead of planning and executing awesome assassinations...
The most fun I had in this game was going crazy and just go on killing sprees, the stealth mechanics used are just so old and boring, clearing a mission through stealth and not killing anyone has never been this boring before... much of the time I didnt even have a target.... yawn.
+ Graphics, sound
I was thinking of putting all the annoying game changes and disappointing quirks in Absolution here BUT I'm short on time so I'll cut to the chase and just say WHY this game FAILS.
- It's masking behind the great HITMAN-label and dont deliver.
- THAT and it seems they did'nt even try to make a hitman game. They put 47's face on Sam Fisher basically.
I'm deeply disappointed and I dont understand how they could do this to Hitman fans. We waited so long too.
I'm giving it 3 because of the Sniper Challenge, atleast that was fun while it lasted.
