The concept of combining animals together to create units is innovative enough to overcome other stagnant RTS aspects.

game from childhood, buy it in steam and let's play online!
I also wanted to say that it’s better to download the Tellurian mod, there the balance is different, it will be more interesting

This is a fantastic RTS game with a very interesting campaign, totally worth it for that alone.
There's also multiplayers and an active modding community for those who care about those.
This is the perfect example of pearls before swine, the so called critics who gave this a negative score wouldn't a good game if it was in front of their face

Once you get past all the gamesmanship, you can concentrate on bitch-slapping Mother Nature by creating twisted beasts that would make Jack Hanna brown his khakis.
A great idea on paper, but it simply fizzles when the meaty portion of its plot is exposed to play. [Mar 2003, p.90]
The combat is fast-paced and aggressive, but balanced. The creature-combining mode is deep and involved, but accessible.
It's a good concept set against an intentionally silly story. But the game is all style and little substance. [Apr 2003, p.110]
In a vacuous bubble, the prospect of combining creatures would create all sorts of wacky experimental fun. But in the context of real-time strategy, it becomes an unnecessary chore.

One of the best Games ever. This one is timeless. There was not one year the last 15 years I did not touch this game. Concept is so cool. And a sequel would be the best that could happen to the gaming industry.

I played it as a kid and LOVED IT even if i only chose to play it and not to buy it so I rated it 10 for kids WHY? Because it is FANTASTIC A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN BE FREE WITH REX LUCY AND YOU LIKE EVEN THE OTHERS THE ARMY BUILDER IS LOVE AND LOVE ARE THE HENCHMEN TOO WHO WHO LOOK FUNNY AND CALLS YOU THEIR BOSS ALL THE TIME. But If I had a kid right now with the brain I got I would never ever buy it to him or her unless he or she asks me. Why? Because this game screams softly freedom.
