A gorgeous and absorbing space combat sim, but one that takes time to get to grips with.
Easily the best space sim since "FreeSpace 2," and in several ways it exceeds that game. Particle Systems has successfully created the type of game that fans of the genre have been waiting for years to play.

So I admit this game is an ass kicker, especially for all you fighter pilot gamers out there. By all means add this title to your collection. Just make sure you have an over abundance of patience, and a full head of hair, because you will be pulling it out.
A very demanding game, which will provide sufficient fun only to the most consistent players.
While the game immerses you in an enormous, compelling saga, its sheer complexity will scare off all but the most dedicated space-combat aces.
If you're a hardcore space simmer, you won't find better out there - it really is as simple as that. The sheer depth of the thing combined with the freeform universe, gorgeous graphics and near-perfect physics engine means you could play this non-stop for weeks and just not get bored.
Gamers not hooked on star jaunts and sci-fi melodrama may find the slow physics and steep learning curve too daunting. [Nov 2002, p.113]
