  1. One hell of a good Indy simulator. Fine for single and multi-player if you can't get online. Once again, a solid effort and more proof that Codemasters truly knows racing games.
  2. The racing action is fast, while still maintaining a smooth, polished feel. The controls are solid and the cars handle very well.
  3. Despite a few AWOL features, however, it can still deliver a healthy 230-mph kick in the pants when pushed. [Dec 2003, p.102]
  4. If you're new to this particular subgenre of virtual racing, you will find that IndyCar Series delivers enough action and challenge to keep you driving for some time to come.
  5. The effort required to make any progress is so frustating that you'll undoubtedly start to wonder what you're doing playing an IndyCar racer when there are plenty of decent Formula 1 games out there already.
  6. As an Indy car simulation, the game does offer an accurate representation that should appeal to a small base of fans. Problems with steering and slight AI deficiencies are likely to turn some away, although Indy Car Series is a decent approach to a popular event.
  7. Although there are some problems with the music and interface, the sheer playability of IndyCar Series shines undeniably through them.
  8. If you know what the IRL is about then this game is entertaining, but it's not the definitive IndyCar simulation it seems to want to be. [Jan 2004, p.84]
  9. Does a remarkable job of simulating just about every aspect of the IndyCar season and the world famous Indianapolis 500 right up to the point where you get behind the wheel. The car setup, the schedules, the teams, the racers, everything is perfect and you won’t find a more authentic presentation of IndyCar racing - just don't drive this out of pit row.
