  • Summary: Due for release later this summer, inMomentum is about creativity and freedom of movement. The gameplay is based on two simple actions which increase momentum each time used. To succeed, players need to manage movement to progress through the games many levels, find secret items, and complete a variety of gameplay challenges. inMomentum offers both single and multiplayer game modes. InMomentum has fun and stellar gameplay, with excellent presentation and an attractive sci-fi setting. Just some glitches slown down the experience; a nice challenge for solo and multi-player gamers.

At this point, InMomentum isn't really worth its asking price. While its limited, nostalgia-tinged take on platform racing gets the entertainment wheels turning, its repetitive game modes and at times awkward mechanics prevent it from ever getting up to speed.

A great idea with strong visuals hampered by half-realised mechanics and barely functioning online connectivity. [Jan 2012, p.54]

An incredibly fast-paced game, and that speed makes it an incredibly more-ish and enjoyable experience when it works. It's also worth mentioning that the developer has promised future fixes and free DLC to expand and improve the game. Unfortunately, though, because the current version of the game is wrapped in a mire of niggles and glitches, and because it hasn't secured the amount of content or popularity that might give it lasting appeal, InMomentum doesn't get the recommendation that may have otherwise been within its reach.

I'm really liking the fact that this game takes a brave approach to platform gaming. I've been in the lookout for a game of this type for long. It's made by a small indie team, the game is not huge and it sports just enough maps and content for it's price. Considering the developer stated free DLC (maps, modes and level editor) in the future, it's totally worth it's price. The gameplay is entertaining and it really gives me a feeling of freedom. Totally worth a buy. Expand
  2. This game itself is quit good. I've always been some hardcore parkour fan since i played Mirror's Edge and i was looking forward for this game.
When i played i liked a lot the levels that the game have,a real good work with the graphics of the Unreal Engine 3.
The gameplay is easy, jumping trough the walls and opening gates isn't hard at all.
The challenge is to make te lowest time in a level to be scored into the scoreboard or play a level just to collect the spheres.
The one bad thing in the game is the replay, you may not plat this game for much time and might abadon it soon,so if you are going to buy this game, remember that you maybe will not play it so much.
Another bad this is when you want to play with a friend, the servers in this game it's like a dedicated game server, you may have to open ports to create a server.
I give this game a 8. Worth the play.

  3. The controls are awkward, unusual, inadequate, badly implemented, and nearly impossible to use properly. Even if you rebind the keys, there is simply no way to execute multiple commands while using both the mouse and keyboard to move about the game world. Sometimes it is necessary to use power-ups, and having five fingers in each hand is simply not enough for inMomentum. I am certain that after excessive amounts of practice, it becomes possible, but I am not sure if the trouble is worth it. There are barely any sound effects of any kind. You will hear the occasional beeps and bloops every once in a while, but that is all besides the continuous uninspired music. The game does not give you any indication that you are actually running around and jumping. There is no feeling involved with the movement and game physics. It is as if you are gliding from place to place, then floating, gliding some more, all with odd physics that do not blend well with the game's setting or anything that makes any sense at all. Timing your glides and floats so that you land on the platforms requires mostly luck, as the controls are incredibly imprecise, and do not allow for the player to develop any real skills or techniques in order to accomplish each level rapidly and properly. inMomentum does not have any story or introduction as to why you are doing this gliding and floating around on platforms collecting orbs and doing time trials. There is no campaign of any kind to speak of, and the only aspect of the game that provides feelings of accomplishment are found in online leaderboards for the two limited game modes available. The game is so bare bones, in fact, that you will wonder if it was actually finished, and if the developer should actually be expecting money for it. inMomentum is a cheap, unfinished, unpolished, bore. Play it every once in a while for five to ten minutes at a time in order to maximize your fun with it. Expand
  4. Completely not fun. Controls are weird, messy maps. ozgeek pretty much nailed it. It's really linear and frustrating game to play as your jump timing has to be spot on or you fall into oblivion. A lot. Pass on this one. Expand
