Jasper's Journeys instantly reminded me of old Epic MegaGames titles such as Jill of the Jungle, and Jazz Jackrabbit. In fact, Jasper's Journeys might as well have been released between about 1992 and 1994. The game style and aesthetics are very reminiscent of platformers of the period. There is minimal music and sound effects, but what is present seems good enough for what they are. The controls are what you should expect from a retro PC platform game, and they respond well even though Jasper feels a bit floaty. The majority of your time will be spent looking for keys and their corresponding gates. The artwork is basic, but charming and cute in its own ways. The enemies and bosses are unique and and go well with the rest of the game's setting. While the game play is simple, it does not become boring nor repetitive. Some levels are a lot more difficult than others, but not frustratingly so. It does take platforming skills, and not sheer luck. There are 15 levels in total, and they are all fun, interesting, and well designed. Each boss is entertaining, challenging, and fitting with the rest of the game play. My only major complaint is the almost complete lack of music. This gives Jasper's Journeys an unpolished or unfinished feel. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, even if it is a plain game. The folks at Lexaloffle are a talented bunch, and I hope they are able to keep improving after each attempt. They are a studio to keep your eyes on for the future. Jaspers' Journeys is a fun little platforming experience that is reminiscent of a memorable era. Expand
