May 16, 20137This game suffers from very bad publisher's choice of placing it's release date month after Skyrim! And of course it's inferior to Elder Sc]rolls 5, so people ignored it. But a good game overall

Apr 28, 20135Plays as though it was designed to be an MMO, and looks like one too (WOW); predominantly hack & slash nonsense and tiresome fetch-quests (or wander-to-the-other-side-of-the-map-and-kill-this-thing-quests). After a few hours, I was bored, and had no desire to pick the game up again.

Mar 25, 20136Kingdoms of Amalur is a fun enough game, similar in style and gameplay to other action RPGs like Fable. On the plus side, it's got a pretty big world, with a load of quests to do and decent character design. On the other hand, the setting, storyline and many environments (caves, I'm looking at you) are rather generic, which is both surprising and disappointing considering who was involved.

Mar 16, 20139It was a solid, well done and greater battle system RPG that I played last year. In 2013 I wanna play the expansion, really anyone who likes RPG will love this game. The main quest are amazing.

Mar 16, 20135I decided I need to downgrade the game more. Great initial concepts with horrid execution. Bad porting of console controls. Mediocre graphics. Horrible voice acting. Bland quests. Horrible facial animations and out of sync dialog. I pretty much only give it 5 due to the concepts. Execution is TERRIBLE. Avoid this unless its really cheap and you have nothing else to do.

Mar 6, 201310Much better than Skyrim. Its a wonderfull game but to easy finish it on hard. Only make good armor with big health and you not need health potions. I hope I can see a KoA 2 soon.

Feb 23, 20137Not a bad game but nothing special. Recommended to play but don't expect too much.Combat is getting repetitive after a while and story isn't very immersing.

Feb 4, 20133Too much severe key assignment. I think GPU usage rate is not optimized. It is regrettable although it is contents which can be enjoyed very much.

Dec 12, 20126This game is not bad at all. Lots of fun, predictable storylines, stuff to do, and a good time waster. This reminds me a lot of a cartoon-like Skyrim. The game is shallow, but lots of fun. Downsides? Very dated graphics, unintuitive keyboard mapping. Otherwise, not a bad game, but NOT worth the $59.99 retail price. Buy this on sale.

Aug 4, 20126KoA: R is a relatively mundane and generic action-RPG. The biggest problems with the game are the camera (it's just weird) and the repetitive quests. There' some mild entertainment, but this game is really only for killing time while you wait for better games to come out. Not worth buying, unless the price drops a lot.

Jul 17, 20129SO much hate for a GEM of a game. Just do yourself a favor and look at the profiles of the people who gave it less than 5. For 9/10 of those people are skyrim fanboys or the like who came to this site JUST to hate on this game or all they give is bad reviews. There's a demo available, give this game a chance. Think for yourself.

Jun 29, 20126I played the Demo for as long as it let me, and I couldn't justify 59.99 for what I saw in the game. 'Offline World of Warcraft' is how I would most likely describe KoAR. Worth 29.99 as a maximum. Although, I would have liked to see what they could do with the MMO KoAR was allegedly a introduction for. /shrug

Jun 15, 20129The only major problem with this game i had is somewhat cartoonish graphics, and a little bit too colorful seting. But otherwise very good game...Beats Diablo 3 anyway...
-
Jun 11, 2012990 some hours into the game and I am loving it. The graphics aren't the greatest and there are few bugs here and there, but I'd rather play a game that has over 90 hours of game play and depth than a game with high graphics and no depth and short play time. Good side quests, faction quests, main storyline quests. Also has a great combat system and character customization as well.

May 31, 20121Bad graphics, button mashing combat, MMO style fetch quests, boring story. Your character has no voice, he just stands there and stares at every quest giver like a retard. And no FoV slider, the camera is way too close. Spare your money!

May 18, 20126Something doesn't feel quite right. Maybe the game mechanics? Or maybe the weapons? Or the char class? Maybe the game wasn't for everybody. It's not that bad for me, it's just.......... mediocre.

May 17, 20126A solid 6 in my eyes, *slightly* above average.
Combat is fun and worth studying for many other game developers. It became too easy down the road, but fortunately, moddability somewhat saved it. -
May 16, 20120I can't review this piece of garbage because even now (May 2012) I can't yet get to play the game I already own on Steam because the scumbags at EA decided to block it in Japan.

May 7, 20126It's an OKAY game, the gameplay is a simple hack 'n slash but still enjoyable for some, the graphics are highly dated though, so much so that it made me feel like I was playing a 2004 fantasy title. The story is there and it's alright, nothing great though.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is great...for a bargain bin game. -

Apr 27, 20128Great: the artistic style, the combat mechanics, it's fun!
Good: Quests variety, crafting, the character builds are different and fun to play
Not good: the voice acting, the dialogue writing, the open world factor and exploration -
Apr 26, 201210Delivers exactly what it promised. It's a good (if slightly generic) open world-rpg with a decent story, good combat, and hours and hours of side-quests. While it isn't as fleshed out as some games like Skyrim, it's still excellent in its own right.

Apr 24, 20125At first, this game is really fun. You start out weak and gradually gain powers and such (depending on your style of game play). However, it just gets way too easy. To top it off the story is incredibly predictable. If you are on a tight budget, rent/buy used/borrow from a friend. The Escapist summed it up by saying it is Skyrim for beginners.

Mar 28, 20124It's just not possible to trust the professional critics anymore. There is no way this game deserves the high ratings its getting from the pros. Outdated graphics, boring story, boring quests. And the awesome combat that everyone seems to rave about? Just a click attack until everything is dead. Rinse and repeat for every damn mob. Save your money, or wait until its for sale for $10.

Mar 21, 20129Great combat (meaning fun) make this the best 360 game I've played. Story is weak but combat makes experience enjoyable. Some bugginess in areas make them mostly unplayable as well. Overall highly recommended.

Mar 15, 20128Almost as good as skyrim in my opinion, while the world is not as large as in skyrim they really nailed an awesome story to this game, also a good graphics design and a better combat system(hack n slash ftw). Now the bad sides:the camera is a bit weird at times but that really aint a problem and there aren´t too many intresting side quests. So overall a pretty epic rpg.

Mar 13, 20127Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning delivers what it promises, engaging story, fluid combat system, in depth crafting system. Downsides to KoA are to many side quests not enough main story, the game itself is on the easy side and the camera restrictions are beyond annoying but overall well worth the price if you are a RPG fan

Mar 7, 20129Maybe the best RPG Fighting system i ever had the pleasure to play. The graphicstyle fids very good and the world feels all fine. There is a tone of content (20 if you rush 100 if you try to do everything). The biggest downside is the balance. I started on hard and it is still sometimes far to easy - especially crafting can make you some rly op items. - small side note, very fast load times
-
Mar 7, 20128
-
Mar 7, 20123Unimaginative and lazily done bastard child of an MMO and Fable.
Fails to provide a decent story, fun or challenging combat, or creative world design.
If you enjoy the tedium of most MMOs without anyone else to talk to, this is the game for you.
-
Apr 5, 201260Fast and flashy combat in a shallow fantasy world. For the solo MMO player only. [Apr 2012, p.62]
-
Mar 27, 201280For all the things that don't work well, the exciting combat and deep world make KAR a very worthy game to play. It's a shame Electronic Arts is doing such a poor job of promoting it, as there is enough here to make the foundation of a very solid franchise.
-
Mar 21, 201274Great combat and mountains of loot can't compensate for Amalur's generic world design and familiar story. [May 2012, p.72]
