  • Summary: (Also known as "Legendary: The Box") Legendary tells the story of Charles Deckard, an art thief who is duped into stealing Pandora’s Box. When he inadvertently opens it, he releases hordes of beasts thought to be fictional – such as werewolves and gryphons – into an unprepared modern world. A full scale war between man and myth begins, and it is quickly complicated by the actions of powerful secret societies. As the person responsible for releasing this terror, Deckard’s unwittingly become the only person capable of containing it once more and saving civilization from being destroyed by the terrifying creatures. 1. Despite very linear gameplay and a level-design that is just short of plagiarism, Legendary delivers action-packed fun, impressive monsters, a good atmosphere and the feeling that Spark learned from the abysmal Turning Point.
  2. The single-player campaign is only eight hours long, but full of spectacular and varied scenes. It's a lot of fun, but too linear, and the use of generic weapons, imprecise controls and inconsistent graphics show a lack of fine-tuning.
  3. Legendary isn’t the most involved or technically excellent shooter to come out this season—Left 4 Dead and Gears Of War 2 outclass it. But it’s a fun change of pace with some extremely satisfying combats.
  4. Entirely average. [Feb 2009, p.83]
  5. This is a game that could have been much more. The game’s linearity really hampers immersion, and there are some odd animation elements that also distract from the game.
  6. Stiff, confused. [Jan 2009, p.70]

By the time I'd defeated my 10th werewolf, I was already tired of needing to cut or shoot its head off so it didn't regenerate. By the time I defeated my 200th, I just wanted to turn the game off.

This to me a Unique FPS and graphics seem very immersive the only issues are the check points and various AI was a really good challenge the boss battles where easy but looked good and you dont need a really good pc to run it. I recommend this game to anybody at all but it does require a unique person to enjoy to the fullest. Expand

Nice console arcade shooter. In this game you can see London and New York are destroyed by monsters from Pandora-box. You play as a thief which has activated pandora-box. After this thief has been infected and has got a power ability. And so on.
So. I like this story. Maybe this is simple story, but this story is suitable for FPS genre. Graphic in the game has medium quality but this is a console game. Destroy scenes are very impressive. Gameplay is very simple. Tasks that you have is very simple too.
Overall Legendary nice shooter for 2-4 evenings.

This game deserves a higher score than what it has on the critic section, this game is a fun play through if you can snag it for cheap (steam) and throw on some sweetfx enhancers. The story is pretty sick (especially at the beginning) and is worth the time spent if moderated to an hour or so. Expand

Legendary is a modern FPS game and it shows; it has some of the most impressive visuals (despite the drap textures) and audio I have ever seen and heard in an FPS game but it fails in the gameplay department. The weapon models are excellent yet your choice in guns highly generic, the guns sound good yet feel weightless at times, the maps impressive and fun to navigate yet buggy and linear. In other words; Legendary is style over substance and that is unfortunate because there are some very good ideas thrown in there. For example, if you want to heal yourself you have to first kill a creature and then harvest its energy. You can also use this same energy to power devices or to release a blast of energy that will affect creatures in different ways (although it mostly knocks them back). The downside of having to do this is that you spend far too much time leeching health and healing yourself even though most of the time, you really do not have the time to do so. Human enemies do not drop health, causing some sections of the game to become a frustrating camping experience until you run into a creature that you can kill and harvest. The other good idea is the absolute awesomeness of watching New York and London being ripped apart by a gigantic golem made out of cars, werewolves, Griffons and other mythical creatures that I've always wanted to see in a modern setting. I'd recommend playing this game based on that alone but be warned; you will get stuck in the terrain, you will curse and scream at having your camera and controls locked by yet another werewolf attack and you will wonder why some of the design decisions were even allowed to make it on paper, let alone into a full-blown video game but I felt it was worth it just for the sight-seeing because name me another game where you get to see Big Ben being torn down by a Kraken? On the other hand, you might end up watching that cutscene a few too many times for your liking ... Recommended for hardcore FPS fans with a lot of patience. Play it on the highest difficulty, you'll be frustrated some of the time but most of the ride will be a fun challenge. Expand

Mediocore game. but the atmosphere is really great! Its a little buggy, its too scripted, very linear, and weird sometimes, but i really enjoyed Legendary on PC. I buyed on Summer Sale for .079 Euro. It was not a waste of money. Expand

Legendary is a mixture of every average shooter ever made. Not a single weapon from the available arsenal is worthy of a mention, yet none are worthless. Health is regenerated from the signet on Deckers hand which also doubles as a defensive item as it can be used to daze enemies with its short range energy blast. It's just a 'run of the mill' fps that has good ideas, which are poorly executed.

Now, there is some stand out moments which are worthy of a mention and it is to do with the levels and the enemies. The mythical creatures are of high quality and of a good variety, but again the poor execution in implementing them into the levels shows amateurish mistakes throughout. They are fun to go up against and on normal difficulty they are worthy opponents. However, they will be clipping in and out of the levels as well as appearing out of thin air as you activate the next section of the level... obviously, the immersion is lost at these poorly designed intervals. It's a shame because Legendary has been made with a lot of love and it does show. The subject material is well used and the story is well put together nonsense. I played through the game as if I was a play tester pinpointing problems and thinking up new ideas all the way until the end. I enjoyed it a lot and it pains me to say that as you have to delve deep to get the most out of it. You should play it as it is cheap but that price does reflect the quality of most of the game.... Sad face 5/10

Poorly designed and marred by many technical difficulties and balancing issues, this game is to be avioded. The concept is interesting but is so poorly implemented as to make this game worthless. I wasted my money on this so you don't have to. Don't let this sacrifice be in vain. Expand
