One of the most addciting and clever designed roguelikes on the market. Definetly worth playing.

The game as a whole is very addictive as most people have said. I found the crafting system limited, and the Hat system is rather broken. No spoilers, but one of the first unlocked hats was the only one I ever actually used the rest went unused. I found myself playing over and over just trying to beat the game, with no avail, I am not the best gamer but the challenge was still to much for me. Unlike other rouge-likes where your starting options are generally all equal with different challenges, this one has clearly superior characters that don't change the game much other than being better than the others. Other than these problems the game is incredibly addictive and fairly well paced. I would recommend buying it on sale, but I say that about all games, forget full prices. Expand

Magcite checks off all the boxes that a side scrolling Rougelike should. Polished gameplay and fluid combat, completion system that keeps you playing, nice and simple graphics, and some light bouncy tunes.
The only thing holding it back is an obscure crafting system that is never explained besides a white line of text that tells you how to make sticks, which is coupled with an inventory

Rogue meets Terraria in this addictive, fun, and challenging pixelated action/RPG game. The worst part about it revolves around the crafting, where you basically get ZERO direction aside from "Hey, just try shift-clicking random items around until you create something." A bit of a crafting tutorial would go a long way into alleviating this problem. The game itself has incredibly solid game play, especially for an early access game, and I frequently find solace in its simplicity. The only reason I am giving it a 9 is because even though it has variety in area set up on occasion I feel like I am doing the exact same maneuvers over and over again. I expect to see great things coming from this game as it continues to progress to release. (For 10 dollars it is a total steal!) Collapse

Quite addicting, very solid gameplay even in the early access version. If you like the risk of perma-death, the possibility to make a really strong character and the slight RPG element here and there (there are three skills you can get in every playthrough), get this game.
