  1. A highly addictive but ultimately inherently flawed game; Majesty puts you in charge of your own kingdom where you hire adventurers to (hopefully) do your bidding and build structures that will aid your adventurers in their quest to defeat the evil that dwells in Ardania's lands. You have no direct control over anything but the buildings. You can upgrade these so that they will provide the adventurers, that you hire by building other kinds of structures, with better equipment, spells, potions and places to lose their money so your tax collectors come pick it up and deliver it to your kingdom's chests. Although it seeks to imitate Dungeon Keeper, it falls short of being Dungeon Keeper. It is more like any ordinary RTS game but this time, someone has stolen your mouse and will only give it to you if you promise not to order your units to attack any of his structures or units. You have to entice your 'heroes' by adding reward flags (Which you pay for by collecting taxes) to hostile units and buildings. The higher the reward, the more inclined your heroes are to carry out your orders. (Majesty 1 has only two 'orders': 'destroy' and 'scout') Most heroes are cowards, though. And the AI isn't very clever; although certain types of heroes work together, most run away at the first sight of danger and the rewards you offer never seem to be high enough unless the enemy is outnumbered or simply weak, in which case you never really had to offer any reward because your opportunistic heroes will no doubt be around. As I said; the AI isn't the smartest around and you've got plenty of time to witness it not being very clever while you curse at your repairmen and heroes for not prioritizing like they should. Spells are extremely hard to cast because heroes are often obscured, causing you to accidentally buff the enemy instead. Not to mention that most spells cost so much gold, you'll be spending it on upgrading and building instead. Yet, despite its flaws, this game is highly addictive. If only because it's so much fun to take care of your heroes and watch them level up. Give this game a shot but don't expect to finish it without cheats - some of the (later) maps gimp your abilities, forcing you to use less-than-optimal strategies in combination with an AI that just won't cooperate while the enemy throws wave after wave of overpowered monsters at you. The latter wouldn't be a problem if there was any sort of transition between levels but there isn't; you start each level from scratch. Forcing you to upgrade everything all over again. Even your heroes start at level 1 no matter how difficult the map might be. The expansion pack 'Northern Expansion' offers more of the same but does so in a more graceful matter while adding new establishments and enemies for you to curse at. (Hint: Play the expansion pack right away because it's the same map as Majesty's, only larger! And it won't carry over your progress from Majesty...) Expand
