Getting this game over the "FIFA" series or "Winning Eleven" will primarily be a matter of your interest in Machester United (or any of the other franchises present here) rather than your interest in game mechanics or modes. The presentation for the game relies heavily on your love of a certain team.
  2. Although the game lacks some of the amenities of the long-established "FIFA" series, it also lacks a lot of the baggage that the EA Sports monolith has accumulated over the years. [March 2005, p.86]

Even the most determined Man U follower stuck in the bowels of America would be better off editing together a team in Konami's masterpiece than taking the easy way out offered here.

You realise that its not only Man U who are doing this, why there isnt a separate Arsenal or Real Madrid column i dont understand. The game it self, like all the other Club Football's are virtually for the fans only, and in truth aren't even FIFA's let alone PES's. And as for Man U, 5th in the premiership and in the last 16 of the UCL doesn't seem too bad, especially when you look at liverpool ;) Expand

Man united are just trying to make cash, this game is nothing more then money making scheme to pay for their prawns and champagne. I traded the game in after purchase as it lacked realism, as it made man united, and their players far too powerful. If realism was to be achieved they need to release a patch putting them on par with teams in the bottom half of the premiership. [Ed: bitter?] Expand
