Aug 19, 2012Microvolts is a free to play PC game. Yes its another shooter, though in third person, so i guess its like a version of Team Fortress 2 (TF2) , TF2 being better though, obviously. Anyway, I love this game, especially since my TF2 isnt working so I find it an alternative. Its really fun to play, always users so u never get bored. I like most of the game modes. I like the variety of weapons and the characters (Naomi and CHIP). A few things need fixing but, Im just LOVING this game... (EpicPillow is one of my names)… Expand
Jun 12, 2011Well, here is yet another new free to play shooter. However, I fell that this is most definitely one of the best ones I have played. It's a third person shooter with cutesy anime themed characters and very nice cartoon environments that fit in well with the whole cartoon toys theme. They also boast some of the best design I have seen in a game. In a lot of free games the levels are very straightforward with a bunch of newb-tubes to camp at. Also, all of the bright vivid colors are a welcome change from the various shades of brown that most shooters (AAA Titles included) throw in our faces. There is quite a selection of levels, each different in scale. There is a horror house, a chess board, and outside trash hole, a kitchen, and a few other unique level types that fit in really well.
One cool thing is the customization options for your character. You earn the usual in game currency to spend in the shops for new weapons and character accessories. Unfortunate, if you don't play a lot you will be screwed with the cheap 7 day rental option. You can buy one permanently, but it is very pricey and you have to play for quite a while before you can afford it. You can buy their Micro-currency with real world money to buy things, but if you do that you can only have the stuff for a maximum of 90 days, after which you have to buy it again. And the 90 day option for most items costs about $6 in cash. A bit pricey, so unless you have a lot of disposable income, you'll have to play the game a lot to actually get the custom stuff. The weapons are pretty standard for a shooter; There are an assortment of Machine Guns, Shotguns, Mini-Guns, Sniper Rifles, Melee, Grenade Launcher, and a Missile Launcher. I would recommend you not play with players level 5 and above because you will get totally thrashed if they went out and bought the upgraded weapons. Whenever I encountered a higher level player, I would end up having to try and sneak around and flank him, which is still fun, but if he sees you first, go ahead and say good-bye. The game modes are fairly straightforward as well. There is the usual Team Deathmatch, Annihilation, Free For All, and Capture The Flag- here called Capture The Battery. One fairly unique mode (a few games have done it, but it is still fun and accessible) is the Zombie mode, in which one player is picked randomly to be the host zombie and try to infect everyone else. However, I noticed that mostly the zombies end up winning because one hit and you're infected.
While it is by no means a perfect game, it fills a gaping hole in the shooter market today. FUN. Remember that? The thing we used to have before everyone got obsessed with realism? (Yes I know this line is ripped from Zero Punctuation, but Yahtzee put it better than anyone could have)
So I'd have to say this is a really great game, and if you are looking for something a bit different without forking over $50 for a new release from the great game processing machine, go over to the site and download the client. And happy fragging!… Expand
Aug 20, 2012Cute. That's what it is. Manly. That's also what it is. It's great for all ages of gamers. Little kids can play, and us older guys don't have to hear them over the Mics ;) Older guys can attempt to quick scope and shoot bazookas and demolish other toy figures. There's a training mode that's fun to try to get to the final wave and there's a ranking system that allows for an addictive multiplayer mode. As of 2012, it has more than enough servers to keep a person busy. It also has smooth graphics that run on most PCs (including my lower-end laptop) so people of all PCs can play! It's really easy to get used to and there are a lot of game modes to keep you busy. It's lacking in variety, I suppose, but that's why it's a free game. For a free game, it's fun, and that's all that matters, lol. Go ahead and download it and try it out. I won't be playing it addictively, but it will be a fun alternative to the intense CoD that I usually play :D… Expand
Jul 7, 2012the game play is smooth, fun and and not so "serious looking" compared with traditional shooters, it is a nice time spender, but not so friendly in some areas.... -the game lacks Vision,,, what are the characters fighting for? just gathering batteries? that's it?
-the fact that everyone use every weapons,,, block every single death situation...everyone's happy...
-snipers don't need to learn to head shot,,,, who needs skill when body shots kill them instantly?
-more hit box on fatter characters,,, perfect game
-another game demanding money Constantly,,,equip real cash item to boost EXP&Game Currency
-permanent weapons need to be fixed,,,, Pay to Fix Your Weapons
-why go threw so much hassle before the game release?,,,,this damages game reputation
-spontaneous Glitches and Bugs,,,,wall jump, ghost mode
Nowadays, F2P games are easy to access new hits, but games had been better seen with more quality noted on with Pay2Play games, considering this,,, gamers almost wish it was a P2P… Expand
Aug 22, 2012Nice whacky cartoon idea, beginner is great up to level 8 great fun...butttttttttttttttttttttt (yes theres a but) most of the players past that level have learned a exploit/glitch style of play which means they change weapons so fast they are firing 2-3 weapons at you at once, dunno if a patch is gonna fix it, i doubt it i saw level 50's doing it and they must of been around forever so its been in game for a while and not going anywhere....much like Gunz the Duel its turned into a game of those who glitch play and those who don't, the glitch players basically cheats, wtfpwnbbq everyone else who just plays normal....Sorry Microvolts bigggg thumbs down from me, slow the weapon changing down ALOT and you got yourself an epic little game in my humble opinion, otherwise its just another leet club of glitchers who think they are pro because they basically cheat to win. /Uninstall… Expand
Jul 17, 2013When i first saw Microvolts it looked interesting to try. But when i noticed the word 'duration' everything changed. In tf2 you buy and keep the item forever. However in microvolts that's different. To buy the item to be unlimited the cost of micro-points is outrageous! I wish the items were cheaper like for 7 days its like '1,950' that would be fine if it was unlimited. The number of weapons loadouts can be a pain, if it was like 3 or 4 or 5 just like tf2. Id play it more if this would happen. One more if it was first person then that would be great.… Expand
