  1. The best racing game I’ve played in months, and anyone looking to release a title in this genre now should look long and hard at what Rockstar’s been able to pull off here.
  2. There isn't a better racing game to be had on the PC. If you're the fast and furious type, then curb your need for speed with Midnight Club II!
  3. If you already have a killer PC rig and that is your preferred gaming platform then it doesn't get any better than this, but considering the steep system requirements and the fact that you still need to play this game with a console-style gamepad, why not just enjoy this title on the Xbox or PS2 the way it was designed.
  4. Graphically the game looks good, but thanks to its console roots does not match the best looking games available.
  5. It is quite difficult though, so if you like your racing easy, you'd best look elsewhere - or better yet, find a cheat code.
  6. The right choice for anyone who's out for an action-packed arcade racer with smooth gameplay and miscellaneous tasks and challenges to complete on the road. The accent in this game is on addictive, high-paced arcade-style driving.
  7. It's just not particularly inspired. It's also amazing how much licensed cars are missed. [Oct 2003, p.85]

The greatest racing game ever. IE, the most FUN. The cars have varying handling physics, the opponents talk trash to keep things interesting, the courses are all wildly different, and the drift physics are the best in any driving game I've played. This is not a simulator, which is fine with me, it is a fun fun racing game. Expand

I'll give this game a good review. Understand that the system requirements are steep, as it should be for one of the first games out that fully supports DX9. If you don't have a good racing wheel...why are you even playing racing games. Don't complain to me that the keyboard doesn't give good driving results...wouldn't have Toyota or Honda placed a keyboard on the dash if that was all it took to drive a car?! The physics and graphics are top-notch. The soundtrack is perfect (put your own *.mp3 or *.m3u files in the provided folder), you chose the music you want to hear. The storyline is acceptable, and adds a little to the gaming performance. The AI, although somewhat predictable, is very tough. This is, without a doubt, the best arcade-style racing game that I have ever played. Don't take my review with a grain-of-salt...I'm an experienced, real-life, dirt-track, CART, BMX, and moto-cross racer. Expand

Yesss. To all who are here to hate about the controls, driving physics, lack of customisation etc. This isn't meant to be deep. Where it shines is in the exceptionally well-designed cities of LA, Paris and Tokyo which have a great variety of routes, fun, fast and exciting. The characters you come across are pretty varied. The game does get harder as you play thorugh. I never managed to complete the last race. Lots of races, fitting soundtrack and superb progression throughout. Only Rockstar could've made such a creative and variety-rich game. Expand

Another game released too soon. Installed it on two machines - all I get is random freezes. Readme file and support on the website are less than helpful. Waiting for a patch. Expand
