  1. After logging in a ton of hours on the game, I can say it blows away previous games.
  2. It still lacks what PC RPG fans have truly been waiting for, a fully interactive, epic, full-on gorgeous 3D RPG.
  3. The graphics suite the style of the game well, and the Music suites the gameplay.
  4. It is really a shame that the game was allowed to be released before it was tweaked sufficiently. Unfortunately, these are major problems that greatly affect the gameplay and game players.
  5. It has all of the same ingredients that made the earlier releases so popular, but the excitement is gone, and what once felt new and energetic is now old and tired.
  6. 60
It's a predictable, run-of-the-mill RPG with a plain vanilla story. The new graphics engine does, however, add some flair to the game's legacy.
  7. I lack words to properly describe my disgust with this game. This game looks like somebody made the developers design it at gunpoint.
  8. 60
It was worth every penny I paid for it, though it took me a while to realize how good the game really was.
  9. Whilst the new 3D engine might have brought Might and Magic into the 21st century (some would dispute this) it has changed the game in subtle ways and removed some of the magic and enjoyment.
  10. An average design effort that suffers from rushed production (the "save game" screen is primarily made up of huge blocky text and boxes) and a flawed engine.
  11. The extremely behind-the-times graphics, frustrating interface and game mechanics, and lackluster plot all lead to a gaming experience that's more tedium than it's worth.
  12. 40
A game about nothing...a dungeon crawl so formulaic as to be forgettable.
  13. 40
The emptiness of the world, the poor quality of the graphics, and the decidedly easy-to-use interface and instructions cripple what otherwise could have been a fun little RPG.
  14. The graphics, story, and gameplay are all below average, and it truly looks like the game was designed to go right into the bargain bin next to "Bass Avenger 16."
  15. PC Gamer
The 3D graphics all look positively amateurish. [July 2002, p.62]
  16. Computer Gaming World
About the only thing the inept MMIX does well is confirming its irrelevance. The game is damned boring. [August 2002, p.70]
