So, @Harry21, what are your professional credentials for being such a harsh critic? Where's the list of top-rated games that you have created? Have you even tried? Or are you all talk and no action? Yeah, I bet that's it. Little boy has to bluster and shout otherwise no-one will pay any attention to him. Classic.
Last time I checked it was a free world and, well, hey, if you don't like the game then don't buy it or play it. Each to their own, buddy. Minecraft isn't trying to be a BF3 or Skyrim or SC2 or any other fast-paced FPS. It's a completely different target market. Complaining that you can't kill the NPCs tells people right away what you value in a game. Who needs an imagination when the developers can baby spoon the whole environment to you? Why think outside the box? Just follow the herd like all the rest, it's safer that way and you don't have to think for yourself. I don't like the game either but that's just my opinion and I don't feel any compulsive urge to jam my thoughts down everyone's throats.
People who like Minecraft are thinking for themselves and really don't care what you have to say. Same goes for all the other haters - don't like it, don't bloody buy it or play it.
@Harry21 I have seen no lag, my computer only has 8 GB, my laptop has had no lag at all either. Get a new computer Notch has said he's not an artist, and he supports texture packs. Get a texture pack. The audio? The music was good, not the best, but it wasn't bad. Tell me a sandbox game better than this and for free. I've built plenty of elevators you can't just rush into a game, play it for 5 seconds, quit then tell everyone its a bad game and bring everyone down. This is a good game and I encourage people too buy it. All you haters out there can go and play some other game and stop bringing the people who can tell a good game from a bad game down.

@anyone who upvoted this I believe you guys are desperate. Seriously. Just look at the trailer, then think: out there are titles like BF3, Skyrim, and SC2. Then think that on my android phone I can play NFS for like 3 dollars. Look back at this... this... omg I cannot find a word to better describe my disgust for a software house who's trying to rehamp Space Paranoids in 2011... Also getting such a ridiculously high vote! Then I read in the comments that this game can have LOW FPS?!?!?!?! So not just they managed to not come up with a better idea than make a copy of Lego videogames (in worse), they also managed to make it HARDWARE DEMANDING?!?! If you wanna play low res, low cost blockbusters, get yourself a tablet from Android or Apple, visit the stores, and get yourself Pet Hotel or something of the kind. Will cost you less, and you'll have the same result.
@AledJ No I am not. I am not stupid enough to waste 26$ on something that should still be in beta seeing as though this game looks like crap. Minecraft still lags on decent computers. Google it. Other people have complained. Just because you ignore the problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Notch is nothing more than a thief. He can't make games if his life depended on it. He already admitted to using the Infinimer game engine code to make his game therefore the minecraft engine so he hasn't even done anything that would consider spending 26$ on this piece of garbage.
Been 2 years and the game looks the same. Nothing has changed.
The fact that you have to install mods to make this game fun is even more pathetic. Goes to show that Notch has no charisma in making a game but instead relies on everyone else to install something he could have done. Moreover installing mods in Minecraft is more of a chore than anything else. If you want to join another server you have to delete minecraft.jar and then reinstall it back into the minecraft directory.
Moreover I am not stupid enough to waste 26$ on something that obviously was a beta released too soon. Looks like Notch will have to spend ANOTHER 2 years on the dumbest game ever made.
@cybertm: Um no this game pretty much has nothing listed below is 20 reasons this game is garbage.
Truly one of the ugliest games I have ever seen. Creative? Try using 3ds max. That is creative.I played Minecraft classic and that alone bored me to tears. Minecraft is one of those time killer games you play when you are thinking of killing yourself.
1. Only like 7-8 minerals to mine. These minerals don't do anything. The buildings you make from these minerals don't have extra strength. These blocks are addons. 2. Can only craft like 10 items. You cannot build sophisticate levers, elevators, etc. I have tried 3. Been two years and a RPG system finally implemented (no point of leveling up though seeing as though the levels don't do anything. No worries the fans will make mods just like for the people who play Skyrim and they claim that game is "game of the year" When the game isn't even COMPLETE! lies. Minecraft, like Skyrim lived ontop of a lot of potential but instead they relied heavily on few concepts that people like and forsake substance.) These games like Minecrapft use about one or two interesting concepts and they of course spam them like crazy which of course induces nausea.
4. Everything is so ugly! (games from the 80's look better than this)
5. Annoying FPS lag even on decent computers (Don't run down the stairs when it is raining or it will lag where you have to stare down at the floor or your computer will freeze. So DUMB.)
6. Minecraft is a INFINIMER CLONE. Notch said during the beginning of Minecraft development that Minecraft was an Infinimer modification. The end.
7. Animations look really stupid and just down right sad (most sophisticated animation is a block man running with his legs moving like pendulums.)
8. 30 bucks? I had issues when Skyrim was released for 60 bucks when they recycled their textures, animations, even some of their models. Minecraft which is selling for half that isn't even FINISHED.
9. Audio was probably composed in 30 minutes judging by how simple it sounds. They have yet to add any music to the game aside from the music that you will hear seldom but the music plays once every 30 MINUTES! The game is quiet. 10. Pointless. Minecraft is said to be the size horizontally 8 times the surface of the earth. Okay.... but most players will probably only use 3-4 regions and if they are really into the game maybe 10-20. Why 8 times the surface of the earth? Pointless. All the land masses are the same. If I wanted to waste my life on some minecrapft I would just blow my brains out already!
11. Memory Errors galore. Notch is a master game designer, eh? Hmm... what other games has he made exactly? Just one. Minecrapt. Of course Mine **** was stolen from Infinimer Source code (Notch has admitted to this) so people have waste hours of their time on a MOD. 30 bucks for this garbage? Maybe I would consider buying it if it means fighting off the Combine if they ever invade earth but that probably won't happen. I would rather play Portal, Portal 2, all the Half-Life's Left 4 Dead series, etc. than this garbage. I only play this game when there is literally nothing else to do!
12. All Dungeons are the same. All of them are constructed of blocks. There will be no dungeon where you find some mystical dragon egg that makes you fly and increase 30 levels. Did you really think that Notch would try something that complicated? This guy has sold 4 million units of Minecraft but people constantly tell me that he doesn't have the money to make better animations or better textures. The game sold for over 10$ (which means that he has 40 million dollars worth. Tell me why can't we have HUMAN ANIMATIONS!
13. NPCs are stupid. They don't give you missions. They don't talk to you. They just walk around. You can't even kill them nor can they kill you. The villages sometimes have houses that have doors that go straight off cliffs. I laughed at houses that had doorways that were too small and the tabletops are simply pressure plated floors (the stuff you use for redstone to activate traps.)
14. The textures were certainly not made in Photoshop. Maybe MS paint? Why should I pay 30 dollars for this?
15. No triggers, no scenery, no fancy pance shaders, nor any sort of stages or means of this game. Note Notch has spent TWO years on this. 30 bucks? I would sell a game like this for 0.99 cents
16. Physics engine made me laugh. Minecarts travel 8 m/s. The sand block falls straight down. WHOOPIE!
17. There are plenty of sandbox games that are better and *FREE.*
18. Ambient sound that plays when you are in dark caves BUT NO HORROR ELEMENTS. Fail! They could have at least some monster that chases you or something!
19. AI is stupid. Just run in a zig zag and they will have forgotten all about you.
20. The Nether world is even more pointless. In the Nether there is only like 3-4 blocks while one block simply adds lights others just burn forever. Nether = Hell I give this a 0/10
