  1. Aside from the gameplay changes made to MVP, EA Sports has also drastically overhauled the Dynasty mode. EA has managed to snag AA and AAA farm teams for all 30 of the MLB teams.
  2. No other baseball game so far as been able to fully capture the feel of pitching, fielding and batting like MVP has. The pitching and fielding interfaces are unmatched and are down right groundbreaking, yet extremely simple to pick up on and use.
  3. All new pitching and hitting interface make the game approachable for beginners but with nice subtleties to keep even great players still working to fine tune their game.
  4. The best baseball game that’s hit the PC in a very long time. It’s pretty, it’s smart and it’s packing a deep pool of gameplay options that’ll keep you going well after this year’s World Series is put to rest.

Nuanced controls like the Pure Swing System let you toggle the left thumbstick of your controller to dig out low pitches, reach for a hanging curve or, in our case, just fan the air where you thought the ball should have appeared.

This game is the first to go beyond the major leagues and include all the AAA and AA minor-league clubs, adding a level of detail to the Dynasty franchise mode unrivaled by other games.

This is a gem for the consoles, but really just a very good baseball title for the PC...There are some great things MVP Baseball 2004 has that no one else has ever had, but there are also some things that other PC games have always had that they're missing.
  8. This is mostly a great game on the field, but it lacks a certain degree of authenticity.
  9. The fielding is great in the infield and a nightmare in the outfield.
  10. The biggest problem is that it's practically impossible to walk an AI batter. [June 2004, p.76]

If you can live without walks and the lack of steals and you don't care about Dynasty mode then MVP 2004 is a surefire winner.
  12. MVP makes up for its lack of polish with good looks and plenty of polish. [June 2004, p.85]
  13. Patches are in the works (one was available shortly after the game shipped), and fans are already modding the game to make the Dynasty mode actually work. [July 2004, p.63]

What a pathetic marketing attempt by EA sports...Absolute feel and contol over your batting! Hah...press button when ball comes to you...what a crock of s. Truely the worst EA sports title I have ever played...what's more it cost $70. When you press swing and aim at a ball (that has no sense of direction, speed or height) you would expect the batter to swing yes? well no, he pulls out of the swing to avoid striking out...even when the BALL IS IN THE STRIKE ZONE! This title annoying at best....such a shame. Full Review »
