  1. Game play is a godsend for fans of the Cup, as NASCAR Sim Racing is exactly what it states…it is sim racing. While some newbies to the sport or gamers who prefer arcade style action may be turned off by the relentless realism, I say it is better to sacrifice the weaker links in favor of the hardcore fans that make this sport what it is today.
  2. A rich, vibrant, and very accurate view into what it really takes to successfully race in America’s favorite racing league.

EA has not only closed that gap, but they have exceeded Papyrus' efforts in many significant ways, such as the excellent physics model, featuring "drivable oversteer," third-party extensibility, and just about every option imaginable.
  4. A tire-burning escape into the deep world of motor sports. They could have just given us the Nextel Series and called it a day, but reached deeper and handed out the Triple-Crown by adding Busch and Craftsman Series.
  5. This game almost perfectly caters to both the sim fanatic and the average player.

The online action is remarkably lag-free via a broadband connection, and the game's built-in Voice Over IP component adds a welcome sense of community to the proceedings. [Apr 2005, p.64]
  7. Offers just about everything a racer could want (with the exception of a comprehensive printed manual) and works hard to satiate the thirsts of both the action/arcade crowd and the generally more demanding devotees of realistic/simulation competition.
  8. The developers also do a great job of placing you right into the action, including the national anthem, flyover, and the obligatory “Gentlemen, start your engines.” If you've seen it in a NASCAR event, you will see it in the game.
  9. Control in the game is tight and responsive; either with a wheel controller or even if you brave it with the four arrow keys.

For the most part, NASCAR SimRacing boasts a fine presentation, although the graphics aren't that cutting-edge, and the cars can look a bit too simple. There's also a silly flaw that hurts the game's authenticity: censorship of beer logos.

It's all here: the virtual keys to the teensy-weensy pearly gates of micromanagement heaven. [May 2005, p.93]

Coming at the game as a hardcore NASCAR fan, I'm disappointed in a few things. The biggest issue is the lack of a few official NASCAR tracks.
  13. If you’re looking to satisfy your NASCAR craving, or you simply want to get away from the typical driving games, NASCAR SimRacing improves greatly upon previous NASCAR titles.

Though we've managed to tune the game, the clunky interface and hidden Sim settings are definitely a turn-off.

This game is awful! There are bugs throughout the entire game. Yellow Flags dont work correctly, the one patch ea came out with was pitiful. This game is awful! There are bugs throughout the entire game. Yellow Flags dont work correctly, the one patch ea came out with was pitiful. Gamespy multiplayer has major issues of removing your loging and not allowing a player to ever return. You have to go and buy another game and use a totally different email, and login. EA Sports has no technical support to speak of. I am in the third day of their "24hr" response, and still nothing. Dont buy this game!! Its a waste of money. Full Review »

It is an awesome sim racing game, the only problem is no good career mode to keep me coming back for more. That and long load times!

You can change everything from sponser to track bar setting to left rear tire pressure. There are 50-60 settings you can change before each race. I dont know how it can be anymore realistic than that. I guess all you haters just want static racing where you can sit down in an arcade and race away. Full Review »
