The ability to take a team like the Bobcats, develop your rookies any way you want, and watch as some young shooter off the bench becomes the next Reggie Miller is something that will keep you in the game until the real Bobcats make the playoffs for real.
  2. The game can be frustrating, especially when you have a higher-rated team get owned by a lower-rated one that seemingly can’t miss a shot and takes advantage of obvious lack of player movement on defense for easy buckets. But much of this part of the learning curve.

Hardcore simulation fans really need not apply due to the broken rebounding model. But if you want a lot of high-flying sizzle in your hoops game and you don't care about the other minutiae, then by all means pick it up.
  4. The actual gameplay is quite solid, although a few AI quirks remain from "Live 2005." [Jan 2005, p.106]
  5. New year, same old arcade b-ball. [Jan 2006, p.61]
  6. Leader of the field of one, until some credible opposition appears. [Dec 2005, p.92]
  7. The newest addition to the offensive game-Freestyle Superstars-allows you to execute a dazzling and fun array of passing, shooting, and dribbling moves with your star players. Unfortunately, the joy of these moves is counteracted by the extremely frustrating inability of players to make layups and other close-in shots.
  8. We could have done without the ads for Toyota (what is this, a movie preview?), but the slamming soundtrack and retro touches—the 1995 version of EA's game is included—should help bring the league one step closer to atoning for the Charlotte Bobcats.
  9. With graphics and play modes that live up to what you expect from an EA Sports title, but gameplay that is seriously lacking, NBA Live 06 is mediocre at best.

One would think that EA sports is advancing positively in all aspects of computer sports gaming in terms of gameplay graphivs etc. FIrstly, EA sports does not seem to have advanced positively in terms of NBA 's gameplay. Very cheap and sharp player movement, weird player rebounding as well as player details definitely disappoint. The only positive thing can be said about its sound (so what) and slightly about the graphics (which however do not help the gameplay). I was definitely expecting something more in terms of gameplay atributes than technical ones from EA which has gained "unlimited experience" in these kind of areas. Full Review »
