Like Gotham City Imposters a few months ago, the component parts of Nexuiz are sound; the weapons and shooting good, and the "hook" of the mutators offers some variety but there just isn't the player base to make it worth checking out unless gunning down bots isn't a deal breaker. And it should be reported that unlike Gotham City Imposters, getting connected and staying connected to a match of Nexuiz was never a problem.

    Quotation forthcoming.

Is it worth it to release a Quake 3 clone in 2012? I don't know. In fact, Nexuiz is doomed not because it lacks fresh ideas, but because it lacks people who want to play it.

Almost all of the improvements are simply native benefits of the PC platform and CryEngine 3 -- from the frame rate, to the textures and netcode. With a lack of an open dedicated-server model, community of players, or any tweaks to the pre-existing gameplay conventions, I still can't recommend Nexuiz to anyone but the most dedicated FPS diehard.

If you want to make an arena FPS, you can't do anything wrong. That's the lesson IllFonic learned after the release of Nexuiz on Steam. The game suffered from some huge problems in terms of matchmaking, lag and crashes since day one, and now it's very hard to even find a match.

Again, Nexuiz is by no means a bad game. It does, however, seem like a superfluous one.

I loved the game. Fast paced action, create your own levels with steam workshop and host your own servers (ideal for those wanting to play with friends only, casually, instead of joining servers where you compete with 24/7 players with no life, who beat the ... out of you in 2 secs).
Definitely old school shooter. At USD$2,5.- at Steam, is simply awesome bang for the buck. ($7,48 four pack)
Not sure if the DLC (USD$1,25 is needed for hosting your server, I bought them together.
Even at the regular 10 bucks is a good buy.

At first I wasn't sure it it was gonna be good but it was a free week or whatever on steam so I checked it out. When I first got in it remined me a lot of halo and didn't have most of the mechanics that modern shooters have. This is a good thing. The gun play is extremely good. There are only 9 weapons but each one is very distinctly different. Also, only 2 modes but it doesn't matter, this game is simply about shooting eachother and thats why its fun. Also the most imteresting part is the dynamic mutators which will change how the game works. These can rage from being invisible to obtaining all weapons to dieing in 1 shot and being given the nex sniper railgun. This is definitely worth the buy if your computer can handle it, since it doesn't seems optimized at all. On minimum saettings it still was laggy even though this runs the same way a game like tf2 would. No destructible environments, no continuously changing textures, only 8 people and on minimum settings and IT STILL LAGGED! This game has been out for 2 years they need to optimize it! I can't find anything about this game that a game like tf2, which has absolutely no lag, doesn't have, yet mine can't handle it on minimum settings. I would say buy this, but make sure that your computer can run it. Expand

Ver nice fast shooter (twitch shooter). Like Quake 3 Arena /quake live, Unreal Tournament.
For the new ones: like halo on steroids but
Weapons: Lots of creative and special ones

    Price: 10 â

Hmm Unreal Tournament on the Cry Engine 3, promises to be interesting. And seriously, it is, I was not expecting anything great, just stupid and boring copy of UT but this game despite the fact that it actually terribly like UT, has a really interesting new solutions that could be done in the new UT. It looks great, and not just by the CryEngine, but the authors presented the same shell game and luminous color that looks surprisingly and are attracted to the game. The game plays really nicely, even as the UT. Here is a cool new special "skills". Depends on the server as they are set. It's interesting when every few minutes to change the "skills" everything is on the server that draw their particular skill and gives it to the team (or player), and suddenly the whole team gets as double speed or eg bazook, or ... black and white view , so it is hard to aim and do not see anything. So are directed to useful skills and no. This provides many hours of fun, because .. the "mutators" is more than UT and they are really interesting. The game is still on a copy of UT, but really good. My rating -7/10 Expand

A good attempt at trying to give us all a nostalgia fest with fast paced, map domination old school arena FPS... but the two game modes deathmatch and capture the flag -along with some average maps and lackluster guns, don't really leave this game to be as great as I wanted it to be.
The dynamic mutators add the best bit of fun, but also make the game quite silly, so kills of the competitive crowd there. And the stock and done-before game modes help to kill the fun crowd, after a few hours.
I'd recommend you to download the Linux Nexuiz's sequel which this is based off of, Xonotic. That's much more loveable.

while this game is very fun with it's fast paced action the graphics are not that good. The game is pretty similar to quake. The game also did not have too much variety and most of the games ended too fast. Expand

Nexuiz is a very bad game why? Because the devs are arrogant, racist, rude and into bestialities, the game had potential in the beta then started going downhill unlike the old Nexuiz, they over killed this one using the Cryengine this game was not optimized well for PC's. They also pulled support form numerous consoles in the end to just focus on PC only. They should have made this game self published due to THQ going under the game is now unplayable many people can't play it and are dissatisfied with Illfonic. Furthermore, with Illfonic trolling people asking for the game to be made non steam they are only digging their self's deeper devs that don't respect their consumers get nothing from me or WBGS this game was an instinct buy hoping it will stand up to Classic Nexuiz. We were all wrong just a cheap imitation of Quake 3/UT04. Also the community bashed WBGS modding attempts to edit weapons to make game play more fun lame game lame community this game was a troll feast. Expand
