  1. Play this one alone and in the dark. The Boogeyman gives this title major props for the sheer terror it brings.
  2. For the moment, Nosferatu is a terrific idea, beautifully realized, that is a just a patch or two away from greatness.
  3. A decent single-player affair that pays proper homage to the 1920's silent film on which it takes inspiration from. The game is a lot of fun and will surprise players in varying degrees at every turn.

It's not trying to complete with "Half-Life 2" or "Doom 3", but if the plan is to entertain and freak players out, it's mission accomplished.

I'm not a fan of the random spawn features, the shoddy AI or the boring map geometry but the overall atmosphere is very well done and as a horror fan I did have more than a little fun playing through Nosferatu.
  6. The best comparison is a C-list Hammer Horror film. Yes, clearly utter trash – but trash that attempts to overcome its limitations through determination and imagination.
  7. It looks like a freakin' "Doom II" mode, except the framerate isn't as good. [Jan 2004, p.157]

Great horror-game. Kinda like good old Doom but in a more recent game engine. A good game while you wait for Doom 3. Great feature with the Great horror-game. Kinda like good old Doom but in a more recent game engine. A good game while you wait for Doom 3. Great feature with the random maps and placements. Only drawback is a few bugs and the lack of multiplay. Sure to give you goose-bumps all over all the time you play :o) Expand

It is very unique in the game design, the level design is very good, and the randomization of the castle means that the locations vary and never are in the same place twice when you die.

The story is pretty bland, you inherit a castle, you arrive a bit later than you're family, then when you arrive to the castle you suddenly find out that you're family is missing and you need to search round the castle to find them and not let them die, pretty boring stuff and it feels the same as any old horror movie

The game design is pretty good, the atmosphere is really creepy and well thought out, with the design of the monsters and creatures and the sound effects that play all around you. Although the combat is weak and the hit detection seems a bit off, it is still fun to play

The level design is pretty good as well however when you die, you might see a lot of the same rooms over and over again due to the randomization of the castle, that also counts for the monsters too, you will see the monsters over and over again, although the game does randomize, it is pretty repetitive

The level of difficulty is alright, challenging but fun to play and scary, however when you die, there are no checkpoints (you have to save regularly to continue from where you left off) and you lose everything and have to start all over from the beginning

However this game is fun especially with the lights off, headphones and a couple of buddies around you, this is a great horror game. It is pretty much a hide and seek game with a few enemies here and there, but it is worth it especially during Halloween!
