  • Summary: Drawing inspiration from the mythologies of Icarus and timeless fairytales, OIO is the story of a little wooden man, awakened when a stray beam of sunlight pierces the twilight subterranean world in which he and his hand-carved compatriots stand frozen in time. Alone in being reanimated, OIO embarks on a perilous journey through the vast organic netherworld with only his wits and magical seeds to overcome the challenges before him and climb towards the light. As the journey unfolds, OIO will learn of the fate that befell his petrified companions, seek a way to free them from their inanimate tyranny, and come face to face with his greatest challenge. OIO's difficulty doesn't take long to hone itself to a sharp point, but infinite lives and liberally spaced checkpoints keep frustration to a minimum.

OIO does not expect perfection from you, and you shouldn't expect perfection from it, but that's okay. It's an innovative game in its own right, with a unique world to explore and a style of its own. Maybe a part two will smooth out the kinks.

OIO is a platformer with one gameplay twist: you can create your own platforms by using seeds in dedicated areas in order to grow them. Quite comprehensive, Uncanny Game's title still remains very easy, aside from some sudden spikes in difficulty. Despite its nice art style, it also lacks a little something in its storytelling in order to really convey its poetic side.
