Leave the game along. It's not like ARMA, and I find it refreshing. I love the OFP / ARMA series, but 3 games, all with the same bugs and problems, quickly becomes boring. This game, on the other hand, doesn't seme to have the same problems. In fact, I prefer it. The graphics run smoothly on my PC in the way that OFP, ARMA and ARMA 2 never did. They felt delayed, even if at a constant 60 fps. The aiming is easier on this game, the controls are more responsive and the levels are, frankly, more fun. I don't know why Mr xbox review is rating this in the PC section, or comparing it to Arma 2 which is still buggy, despite being released for MUCH longer than this game. I agree about the vehicles. They bounce a lot. Personally I still prefer them to Arma 2's fake rollercoaster ride. COD is a plague on the community. Stop comparing games like OFP to COD. They're not the same. ARMA and OFP aim for realism, and the only reason that this game is easier than ARMA is because playing tactically on this game allows you to complete a mission. With Arma it's pretty much chance. Also, it's easier to aim in this game, it feels as if it's programmed for a mouse instead of ARMA, which seems to think it's reading desktop mouse movements and trying to convert it into a FPS viewing engine. Give this game a chance, people, and I guarantee you you'll find it rewarding and fun. Think of it as a smaller, polished version of ARMA2, with faster (if lower) graphics (though it's more artistically balanced, compared to Arma's polygon frenzy). It's a decent game and is actually an alternative to the Arma series. it isn't a clone and in all honesty I think that this is the better game. As for realism... well, who cares. I only want realism so that I can annoy the hardcore veterans on multiplayer, and I think I'll still be able to with this game. Good game!… Expand

Great game. The graphics are very fluid and functional. I just finished the single player campaign and enjoyed it. So I suggest the game for fans of Ghost Recon series or Brothers in Arms.

This is a fun game. If you read all the reviews, the one thing that ruined it for people were their own expectations. If you approach this game neutrally and play it for what it is, you will have fun. It does fall short of the original, but that fact alone does not prevent it from being an entertaining game. It does have a few aesthetic glitches and the missions could have been crafted better. That being said, however, you will have fun playing through the single player campaign. And it appears that Codemasters will be releasing additional levels, so there is hope they will produce some grand battles. With OFP 2, it seems that so many aspects of a great game are present, but fail to click, leaving the totality of the game short of greatness.… Expand

Pathetic console port. Simple as that. Everything that was great about Ofp 1 has been completely raped, mutilated and put on some 15 year old kids Xbox, they vomited back up and thrown at pc gamers. Just to make things clear, I have my own system of rating games (1-9). And so now you can see that an '8' is very high to me. I leave '10' ratings for what I consider perfect games, of which there are only three; The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid and Half-life.

This game is by no means perfect, however as I enjoy; realism and FPSs this game is the best for satisfying both requirements. Also I really like it when game companies spend time making things accurate and I feel they have with this game. Ok, you will always be able to find things that are a bit dodgy but Codemasters have done a good job here. I think I should also mention that this game is quite difficult and I can't help but think that many people who disliked it were simply not playing the right game for them. If you want to run around following tightly scripted checkpoints like an idiot firing from the hip killing scores of bad guys and never running out of ammo then play a COD game and not this one.

Another thing I like about this game is the difficulty system. The enemy AI doesn't change whether you're playing on easy or hardcore, you just get a lot less help from the game. Once you've perfected managing your team at individual level you will enjoy the game a lot more and the problems with the friendly AI will be drastically lessened which seems to be a major complaint by most players.

Good points;

+ an accurate game about modern warfare (which COD isn't)
+ a game in which you should think for yourself and adapt plans real-time as the situation dictates
+ it's difficult and some people will like the challenge
+ it's very cheap to buy

The game has potential and it is playable, but the things that let it down for me are: 1) AI - sucks, friendly and enemy 2) It's verrrryyyyy sloooowwwww - reloading or changing weapons - I'm sure if I had an enemy in front of me with a gun pointing to my head I would be able to reload a lot quicker ;) I think it is unrealistically slow. 3) The physics suck - as the first poster said, - vehicles fly up in the air if you run over a rizla.......The sad thing about all of this is that codemasters will probably patch this to some extent for the console users and then forget about the PC users just like they did with The Grid. It's a sad reality that the big companies like EA, Codemasters, etc do not really care about their customers, they just care about their shareholders and making that number every Q. Codies are also a publishing house so they are putting out games from other software houses as well as their own, so there is a very small window of interest after a game is released and then its history. I will be surprised if we even see a patch for dragon rising on the PC cos there is no money in that. The only way this will change is if the gamers vote with their wallets, but as half-decent FPS releases are so few and far between that will probably not change anyway - I certainly have been put off of anything that comes from Codemasters because of the lack of the LOOOOONG awaited 8ball DLC for the PC, and what happens with this game will compound that. Maybe I will avoid anything CM in future.… Expand

I've only had time to play through the first couple of missions.... but I'm really loving this game. The game-play feels very fluid and keeps your heart pumping. I love the option of going wherever I want to go to complete a task. I'm not stuck to the path that someone else has chosen for me. The graphics are beautiful and believable. The sound effects are absolutely amazing. I put on a pair of nice headphones and was blown away by the immersion I felt from the sound and graphics. The command system takes some getting used to. In order to command your squad mates you hit the "Q" key and it will bring a central display that has 4 directional choices which can be selected using "W,A,S,D". The only problem I have with this system is that you have to stop moving in order to issue simple commands. Other than that, the layout is very intuitive. I have played ARMA2 quite a bit and find that it's too simulator like for me and feels obtuse and unnatural. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a great balance between simulation and fun game-play.… Expand

Got this game for xmas present. Cost $88. Played it for an hour or so.Gave it away next day for zilch. Nuff said.

This game is absoulutly awsome. I have been waiting for this game ever since i finished the first one and its everything I was hoping for. The graphics and audio are second to none. It runs so smoothly and fluidly that it leaves you only one thing to think about - staying alive, rather than how much your gonna have to spend on a new PC to play it. Which is good, as staying alive isnt as easy as it sounds. The a.i is very convincing and it feels more like your actualy fighting people rather than fighting robots which is how Arma seems to me. I see a lot of people are saying that it has fallen victim to consolitis and that it shouldnt have been dumbed down for the consoles, and a lot of people are saying the opposite and that its to realistic and not enough fun... I feel that codemasters have made an excelent compromise here between realism and fun, and the fact I can play it on my 360 and my PC i can only see as a bonus! This game is utterly fantastic! It brings back all the good memory's and aspects that made the original game so undeniably awesome.… Expand

Great game ! I' have played the first 4 missions of the SP campaign. The airport assault is great, far better than ArmA 2 (which I also played). OFP Dragon rising gameplay is good and fluid. Great production, really. If you have a decent pc (Core 2, GeForce 8800), the graphics are quite good and functional to the gameplay. I'm happy until now that I bought it. ArmA 2 has annoyed me with its bugs, graphical issues and useless complexity. OFP Dragon Rising has a good mission editor, too.… Expand

Nothing that was promised (hyped) by CM ever came to fruition. "...unique perspectives of an infantry marine, a helicopter pilot, a Special Forces officer or a tank commander,..." Helicopter pilot? Tank commander? Are you kidding me, Codemasters? There isn't a single mission where you assume the role of either. Unless you consider OFP:DR's map editor "the game". Many other outright lies by the developers, including the doctored screen shots they kept/keep putting out in their press releases--none of which look anything like the final product. Although I do enjoy the game for what it is (the opposite of what they lauded), I couldn't give OFP:DR anything more than a 5 out of 10; for the simple fact that it isn't the game they promised, not even CLOSE.… Expand

This game took the name of the original, and lower the level. This game doesn't go anywhere near liberating the original installment, and the six years of development were wasted. Wasted on eliminating features rather than embedding them into the game for phenomenal gameplay. The sequel itself removed the "Operation Flashpoint" spirit, and seemed to be more of a Rainbow Six Vegas with vehicles and bigger island. The island is also one of the downfalls of this game. It's quite desolate. There are no cities, only small villages and more vegetation. The game is empty in soul and spirit, and lacks any immense story. The controls are adequate, but no where near stellar. There is no leaning, whatsoever, which contributes to the elimination of "realism" in Dragon Rising. The game is a flop in my book. Don't forget that the developer was different and steered way around the way Operation Flashpoint was meant to be.… Expand

I was expecting this game to be a fun free war sim, but I was pleasantly surprised. Its kind of like BF2, but its far more tactical, with awesome graphics, and many realistic features. Wheres this game been all my life!

I'm loving this game! Totally reminds me of ghost recon. 32 multiplayer doesnt really work, but this game is made for co-op missions. Graphics, sounds etc are awesome, and the size of the island is massive.

I gave it a "1" because it installed and "worked" - but the controls were like trying to play a flight simulator with a blindfold on. The hyper-realism is just a moniker to sell a game that is only one step past the drawing-boards. Completely unplayable - please save your money and play flash-based web games, a much better use of your time.

Have played ofp, arma, arma2, bf1-2142, cod, moh. this is what arma2 should have been. nice graphics, nice sound, fairly good controls. they didn't make this game a 100% realistic BORING sim. they made this game a realistic FUN sim. sure it needs some tweaking here and there but its NOTHING like how bad arma2 is. running 1920x1200 max EVERYTHING and getting 60 fps. i'm not a big fan of alot of multiplayer games since cheaters and people that play video games as a career have ruined most. i have not tried PVP but the campaign CO-OP is FUN! like someone else said, moving and changing weapons/inventory would be nice. would love to see lots of addon maps/scenarios to co-op play. it's not run and gun like cod, moh, bf1-2142 but its also not OVERLY boring like arma1-2 and the original flashpoint.… Expand

Operation flashpoint: Dragon Rising lives up to operation flashpoint 1, but the perk is that this is more smooth, more entertaining and last but not at least it is very dynamic. The gameplay is truly awesome. THX codemasters you did it again.

OFDR has all of the pesky quirks of a sim without any of the gloss of an action game; if you are looking for a shooter that claims to be "realistic" but is far from it, then this is the game for you! Incidentally, the most "realistic" shooters were made in the late 90's and have only veered away from it since. OFDR continues this trend.

I think its weird how different people perceive this game, i think its awesome, a bit more "Arcady" than Arma II but thats not a bad thing IMO. I bought the game yesterday and spent 5-6 hours with 4 of my friends doing the co-op missions and i havent had this much fun in a long time. The game is far from perfect, but it is definitely worth buying if youre in to games like Arma/Arma II - GRAW 1 & 2 and those type of games. Ill give it 8.5 out of 10.… Expand

Awesome game. MP could be better, but the gameplay makes up for any problems. Needs a couple of tweaks, but apparently theyre due to be fixed in a patch that is due in a couple of weeks. The game is best played in Co-op with friends. It is seriously good fun, and I cant wait to see what the community produces with the built in editor.

It is not what I was expecting as a sequel to OFP the greatest military sim ever IMO. I think if they labled this game something other than OFP2 there would not be so much mixed feelings about the game. The more fluid arcade like controls and interface in OFP2 are a welcome change but this game on release still leaves a lot to be desired from any hard core classic OFP fan. When the major kinks and quarks and the mod community gets going for this game and dedicated server support is released OFP2 will truely reach its full potential. fantastic game. Im so glad this isnt an arma 2 twin. the gameplay is far better, and a lot more fun and accessable than arma 2, which was over complicated, and ruined itselft by trying to be too realistic, which ruined the fun aspect. OF2 is excellent, and exceeds all my expectations. The gfx are brilliant, the AI is spot on (for me anyway), everyone has a different experience with the AI. The atmosphere aswell, is also spot on. Best game ive bought for a very long time for pc, however the console versions arent very good at all.… Expand

Great gameplay overall- Coop is a welcome feature in any FPS and this one hits the coop nail right on the head. The only real con present is the lack of dedicated server support- severely diminishing the enjoyability of online play at this point.

Great game if your into tactical shooters.Its not like modern warfare 2 but its still more fun if your really into more realistic shooters.

I don't get why everyone's trashing this game. This game is for me, the best first person shooter since Modern Warfare! Not a game goes by that I don't play this game; It's difficulty, which post people seem to whine about is in my opinion it's best feature!

Many of the missions are quite similar to be honest..although the A.I. is good some times ..seeking to always flank you..but most times its really stupid!...i mean one guy i was shooting at just ran around in a circle like a confused headless chicken...seriously he moved around a 20 sqr foot area back and forth..whilst his mate next to him (obviously the one with the brains!) was crawling away from the danger area!... My sniper rifle has a MAJOR FLAW! it only seems to work with a direct head shot!...try shooting at the legs or torso and its as if the bullet dont exist!...no damage at all..only head shots do any damage..instant death....hit the body 10 times and nothing!!..now that surely is a major issue.... As for your medic..Duhhhh!!!..mr dumb himself he is! i lay on the floor bleeding...shouted MEDIC!..he pops over gets his trusty bandage out then just proceeds to look at me like he's dazed and transfixed ...he stays like that with me while i continue bleeding and shouting medic to ask for his assistance!..all the time my health is draining away!....eventually he gets shot in the head and we both end up on the floor dead...and i have to re-start 35 mins of gameplay all over again!.Arghhhh!!!!.. These bugs are bad,, very bad..it spoils the immersion and realism no end! I shot a lorry full of soldiers and the thing swerved and crashed off down a small hill and stopped on a boulder next to the beach..all the soldiers just stayed inside and made no attempt to get out...i walked right up to it and they were all looking around out the widows like it was a old pensioners day out!...the dozy muppets!!!.. some missions are very irritating whilst others are just great...when it all hangs together it outshines arma2 in many ways, graphics seem smoother and the grass and vegetation are awesome, as is the starry night sky and full moon missions lol...but after a while it all gets a bit samey..and the awful round team control interface you need to scroll through when issuing orders is just a joke and so slooooww!.... Arma2 is better in so many ways and more realistic also in a sim way..which is what i hoped this would be... Its good but only in a 7 out of 10 way!… Expand

I like the fact that you have to plan things out and use your terrain pluse the story line is original but it can be a big pain when your team glitches out and ignores orders or in multiplayer when your enemy AI some how know where you are all the time is quite annoying but I hope that they will patch that up and bring the game to it's true potentail.

This is a great game BUT the singleplay is a bit short. If you expect to drive tanks forget it. When you finaly becomes the gunner its so difficult that you cant. Helicopters is also hard and only guns can shoot (The only fun thing) But on the brigt side! You really have a realistic GREAT game that can kick some a**. If you cant take to die alot and dont like when shoots are falling in the air i recomend counter strike for you.... But if you like a fantastic real time fighting simulator you should defenetly play this game! You can also try call of duty but its more like counter strike. One of the best games of the year, could be longer. Some missions are much longer than other ones. Multiplayer is confusing.

A Very, very good single-player champaign, sure the AI is not perfect here and there but hey, it's acceptable. The levels are fun and very exciting. I was never a huge fan of the original title, but this, this hooked me, and even on the second play-through I was ever so hooked. I recommend this title for anyone who enjoys open world war games, it is beautiful and plays like a charm.....Don't get why some people says that it's ugly and bland... Obviously it should be bland, it's not COD make-belief environments.. This is the way things look in war!!… Expand

Campaign was slightly buggy, but alot of fun to play. But the campaign is all you can really play with this game. The realism was much better than other shooter campaigns and it was very challenging and alot of fun to play coop. There isnt really a multiplayer content that is good however but i still reccomend playing this game just for the campaign, but do so when it is on sale as you are only getting a campaign out of it.… Expand

Think of this game as ARMA for NOOBS and you will get along with it just fine!
This game is easier than any of the ARMA series, but harder than say Call of Duty. I think it is stuck somewhere in between. The biggest attraction I had to it was the Co-Op. That alone simply made the game worth buying. Played co-op with my kid and we had a great time figuring out how everything worked while covering each others back,and killing the enemy before they killed us (most of the time. As long as both of you don't die at the same time you can respawn. If you are looking for super simple blast em up carnage then I suggest you play Serious Sam HD Second Encounter. If you are looking for super realistic, go buy ARMA 2. Now that game is so realistic I think you have to get a crew cut and eat crappy MREs to play it! I WANT to like ARMA 2, but I can never actually locate the enemy like I can in say just about every FPS out there. I know that is probably realistic, but I'd rather have SOME fun! If you are looking for cool co-op along the vein of Ghost Recon (but a bit harder) then you will probably enjoy this game. To me it truly is a dumbed down ARMAish type of game and I for one appreciate it. And they really did a good job with the sound, you see the large distant explosion and the sound of it realistically takes a second or two to get to you. Vehicles are not realistic, but I wasn't buying a driving sim, so that seemed secondary to me. Funny how codemasters is known for their realistic driving sims and they managed to make such crappy vehicle physics.
I tried some multiplayer, but due to my god-given talent of sucking at multiplayer, I am sure I did not hurt anyone's feelings or even make them call a medic (except maybe to get something when their sides started hurting from laughing at me so hard).
So while the game is far from perfect and gives people from both sides of the aisle to gripe about, I am glad I bought it and played it. Heck friend me on steam (greghile) and we'll play some co-op!… Expand

Is 1 too harsh? The game is....OK...at best, with major faults through and through. The storyline, too short, physics messed up, models limited and poor, game environment bland, the limits (no dedicated server, 64 entity limit, MP distance limits etc) frustrating. In addition the AI is terrible, and the medical "system", which allows you to tank enemy straight up the middle, with few worries, is insulting. On it's own though, this would earn for me 5/10...6/10 on a good day. However. This isn't just a standalone game riddled with bugs. This is the end product of a 2+ year hype fest, using the names of one of the better games of the past decade, whilst having no relation to it. So, on the grounds that Codemasters are cashing in, hyping up a game under a well known name, then delivering an end product that (aside from looking prettier) doesn't even match, let alone exceed, the achievements of a game made in 2001, i'm downvoting this to a 1. Some would argue i'm voting too harshly, but at the end of the day, the benchmark we must compare OFP:DR to is OFP, and aside from the graphics,this game is behind in every way.… Expand

Not the game that we were promised by any description. The PC version is just a simple console port and as such has the graphical quality and limits you would expect to be imposed by consoles. No dedicated servers are in development leaving P2P networking for multiplayer, which results in a terrible lagging mess most of the time. Also no cd-key and no anti-cheat system leaves this game wide open for both hackers (if they can even get online due to the rubbish P2P system) and pirates because there is nothing to stop you playing online with a cracked copy of the game. All in all the game brings something new to console users but PC players will be very disappointed. This is NOT worthy of the Operation Flashpoint name brand.… Expand

I have only played this on the PC, so I cannot comment on any of the console versions. On the PC it fails and fails badly... There are a lot of things wrong with it, The physics for vehicles are terrible, more like driving a car on an ice lake, you can empty a full clip into a jeep and it doesn't even make a mark. The AI switches from mind numbingly stupid to super human (normally 1 minute before you reach a check point, forcing you to play a large part again) the 11 missions are short, you can finish the game in 4 hours or less. But the biggest failing point is the MP experience... It uses P2P for all MP modes of which there are 3, Assignation, infiltration, and Co-op. There are no dedicated server files and CM have confirmed they wont be working on any. So therefore your only games online require someone at home running the game on their PC. Lag and dropped connections are a MAJOR issue. Couple to the fact there is no anti cheat (and lots of people cheating already) no CD key so they couldn't be banned even if there was. Do not believe the hype videos from CM there are nothing to do with the game. Oh and as for teh huge open world? sadly no, you are forced along a pre determined path, which if you stray out of results in a mission failed, so you can not go exploring in missions as advertised. This is a Xbox game directly ported and not changed at all except to allow you to use a keyboard and mouse (which is also not very responsive) If you really want this game wait a month or two it will be in a bargin bucket soon. Bought the games yesterday 2 minutes to shops closing time.. happy i finaly got it.. try to install i get an error, try it again same thing try it more same thing again and again. There is triangular mark on de cd probally production fault.. went back to shop and they said im not the first one. I decided a refund and didnt want the game anymore. After what i read about the multilpayers issues. Its a disgrace they put something on the market for pc without even a serial key. Not to mention no dedicated servers.… Expand

Singleplayer is ok. Very linear feeling though. Multiplayer is catastrophic. Console version might be decent but for the pc players this is an EPIC FAIL. Codemasters totally destoys the name operation flashpoint. If you want a followup to the great game opf then go ArmA2 much bette in all aspects (except ragdoll physics)..but CM ragdolls become static when they die so throwing nades on corpces wont interact with the corpce.… Expand

Made for consoles with its limitations, ported directly to pc.. No "full battlefield" containing both infantry as well as solid vehicles.. Instead there is lack of vehicle physics, number of units. etc.. No dedicated servers, and no intention of making any.. In fact there are no cd-keys for the retail game, so dont think they can make dedicated servers anyway.. Graphics are good but nothing special these days.. Too many things that doesnt feel right about this game, including no dedicated servers, no joystick support, bad vehicle physics, no leaning, no smooth mouse, not much of gameplay options, no balance between infantry and vehicles, no good FOV etc.. Really hate this game as it is right now, and I do not have faith in that they can do much about it to solve all the things needed to be solved.. It coulve been so good.… Expand

A big let down. Solid single-player overall...though the graphics, A.I., command radial, and vehicle handeling could be much better. The game doesn't offer much support in terms of controllers. The online is unplayable! Tons of bugs and Codemasters (the devs) DO NOT seem to care! Just go to the OFP2 official forums. No servers, no in-game kicking, no max ping cieling, crazy bandwidth requirements...the online is just complete fail.… Expand

A single player campaign can only carry a game so far, and for Operation Flashpoint: DR, that is not far at all. What is most upsetting about this game though is the developers seemingly lack of caring about the longevity of the game. Their refusal to support dedicated servers means that the multiplayer community for this game will never exist. It honestly seems that Codemasters only bumped up the total number of players to 32 on PC because it would only seem logical to include dedicated servers with a number that high. Best Game Ever!!!!

Consolization has ruined another great franchise. Why oh why games like this are made multiplatform? This was a poor man's Operation Flashpoint. Reminded me more about Battlefield Bad Company than OFP. Consoles has their great limitations, so why bother to make this kinda game for them? Biggest disappointments in this game: disappearing bodies, cannot move when using inventory, crappy unit commands, too short campaign, general AI and the cherry atop the cake: vehicles in cameo role. YES, forget the vehicles in singleplayer mode! If you wanna wreak havoc in battlefield with every thing on the arsenal, play multiplayer. In singleplayer you had to do with few jeeps and a static tank. The good thing in this game was the atmosphere, generally nice graphics, especially artillery barrages and sounds. But that was it. Its a bit of a dumbed down expirience (probably due to it being a direct console port) but it doesnt detract from the enjoyability of the game. The real issues arise with multiplayer, which has absolutely NO dedicated server support, no anti-cheat, is completely P2P local hosting through lobbies and does not support joining games in session. Maybe 1 in 100 games are actually hosted by someone with enough bandwith and processing overhead capable of providing a smooth, lag free expirience. The other 99 times... Vehicles lag, direct hits are ignored, soldiers lag out etc. Not a whole lot too fun to play. Without dedicated server support the multiplayer aspect of this game will be dead within a month of release, which is a bummer, because the potential is there. Hopefully CM will release a patch ASAP to address these issues, but I'm not holding my breath.… Expand

A lacklustre experience in its own right. It does very little to make itself known above the competition. The most dangerous enemy to this game is it's name. The original was more advanced, and far less limited than its contemporary which really says everything considering it is almost ten years older. This game was made for the console, and although it might be a perfectly new and entertaining product for those used to crackers, we PC players are used to steak. Poor show Codemasters. I've rated this game a 3, a point for each hour that this game is worth playing for. They have disgraced the original with this effort. Bland, boring, ugly, too many adjectives needed to discribe it. If you want to play the sequel to Operation Flashpoint then play Arma2. Arma2 is really good these days with the new patches. Stay clear of OFPDR and save your money!

It's realistic in the sense of combat but is the game fun? No it's not, rather it feels like work, just go play AA if you need something similar. If it had a better networking multiplayer system the score would be higher; ran up to a player point blank unloaded on him he turns around from his stationary position and just pops one shot. Dead. Just trying to navigate through the menus take unnecessary time and in some cases will get stuck in certain option displays and pressing esc does nothing. There's a lot of running involved and the AI are not marksmen, you can pretty much shoot them down in a single shot while watching them flail their weapons like retarded offspring. Should of waited for BF:BC2, and i wish i could return this bore fest. Ya this was with the PC version. On the bright side, there was a few notable features that I did like... But looking back I can't find anything that makes it stand out except it's combat realism-ish. Don't let the trailers fool ya, it never gets intense in multiplayer. Absolutely appalled at the state of this game. the bugs, the poor multiplayer, lack of dedicated server support, poor graphics, roaming limitation etc. How it rated so high in so many magazines fills me with dread at the integrity of these so called game critics. I only wish you could get a refund for games. Such a pity.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising , without introduction this is a big disapointment for FPS players , why ? : 1 - Many game bug 2 - help popup who stop action 3 - the animation is realy made by beginers 4 - the AI , but we cant speak about ai in OFP DR your squad move like dogs who folow you , they even can dance with your steps . 5 - Controls are very lagy and not smoth 6 - if only they asked Infnity ward how to use focus aiming to have smoth smal controls not a tetris movement 6 - many many many problems so for who played Ghost recon ans seeked for a modern recon FPS this is not the good choice.… Expand

Graphics is good. But 11 missions to keep single player running is not enough. the missions can be handled on hardcore mode in 4-5 hours. Then there are the issues with multiplayer. Even theough the game looks and feels pretty this is nothing out of the ordinary, and every other game provider will be able to provide more interesting gameplay, more game time on single player and a fully functional multiplayer environment upon release. There are also issues with validating genuine players from pirated players. Currently pirates and game cheaters play along side valid players, causing the multiplayer aspect to falter even more. The AI is not impressive and a patch production was set in motion prior to release, but the game got released anyway. Dont let graphics only indicate that the game it self is great. I will say this though, the game holds some potential, but only if many of the serious issues are addressed.… Expand

Stupid console port, nothing to do with the original flashpoint. MP is broken, no dedicated servers in development. Utter farce i feel like ive been swindled by CM into thinking this game is something that its not.

If you are expecting Code Masters to deliver a followup to the ground breaking Milisim 'Operation Flashpoint,' with this title you will be VERY disappointed. However, if you you are expecting a relatively fun 4 player co-op campaign, and are willing to overlook the glaring problems present in the current release of the game, you might actually enjoy yourself. There are many problems that detract from a fun experience. It is well known by now that there are no Dedicated Servers for this game, and the last official word from Code Masters was "this feature is currently not being worked on." There is also no mention of intent to release a SDK for the modding community to fix the problems with this game. The enemy AI, even when the game is set to 'Hardcore' is pathetically unrealistic in the way they respond to combat. Vehicle physics are simply a joke, vehicles tend to flip, the turning radius of most of the vehicles in the game is unacceptable, there is no way to use brakes without using a "handbrake." Your weapon seems to fire from the center of your model, so in some situations even with clear Line Of Sight to your target your rounds will impact objects you are using for cover (inexcusable for a shooter released in '09 ) The AI can track players and other AI through smoke, burning buildings and wrecks, as well as tall grass and vegetation, something a human player can not do without the assistance of optics. Weapon damage is unrealistic, plenty of examples of enemy AI taking a high caliber round to center mass, going prone, and then standing back up as if nothing was wrong with them. "...engaged against the full force of the Chinese PLA on a scale never previously experienced in a military action title..." I had to laugh at that one, most missions present very few targets, for example the opening mission of the campaign asks the player to disable anti-ship and anti-air installations on a small island off of the coast of Skira, to secure safe passage for a landing on the main island. Such a strategically important location seems to be defended by approximately 50 PLA soldiers, most of the players time is spent walking, or attempting to drive, through the bland and vastly empty landscape. Very deceptive advertising by codemasters. The game isn't too bad, but it is not what was advertised. Unfortunately they ruined the Operation Flashpoint name by turning it into yet another run-and-gun game. Oh, and multiplayer will be dead in months. I'm sure most of the other comments here cover what the title was meant to have but was conveniently left out, or grossly exaggerated.

I give this game 1 because it might be good on consoles but i don't have one so i can't tell. The PC version is really sad and have absolutely NOTHING to do with the original. Even worse is that it stinks REALLY bad of console, from graphic, menu to control system. About the multiplayer part, PATHETIC! The worst physics in a game for at least 10 years, the helicopter flight model is the nothing short of a joke. Considering the game was built on a racing game engine the vehicles handling is laughable. Very poor console port to PC, MP is via P2P only no dedicated servers, for clans this is a killer. No mod support for the community leaving most with a bitter taste as the original Operation Flashpoint was based massively in the community, Codemasters have shown without a doubt that they are purely in this to milk the name. The PC version has about 8 hours of SP in it and MP is dead as the lagg is terrible.… Expand

Well below par. VERY short SP campaign, lots of problems for MP players, lack of USP features, numerous control system issues. Codies are going to have to pull the stops out with the follow up or this (formerly classic) title will be dead in the water.

This game has been the worst disappointment of my life. At first it was hyped like crysis as a modern warfare simulation, destructible everything, mud on weapons when you crawl, everything was supposed to be so authentic. End result was a crappy console game ported for PC.

One of the "more fun" games I've played in quite a while, ruined by the fact that there's no dedicated servers on the PC. This was the game I've been hyping to my friends for the longest time. There's other various stupid mistakes in the development of the game that the company fails to acknowledge, such as moving your head while in a vehicle. What, are we wearing 163 point harnesses or something? Other than that, granted this is not a TRUE OFP game, the campaign is fun and the coop is interesting. Gosh, where to start. The game does not live up to any of the claims of the developers, The trailers are complete lies, anything you see in them you do not expect to happen in game. The game play is slow and clunky, the feild of vision is narrow, you need to shoot enemies in the head if you want to kill them instantly, otherwise it will take 4 to 5 shots to kill them, ingame colour scheme is horrid the colours are all washed out. You have to stop to order your squad, multi player is slow, kind of like the in game sprinting, and there are no dedicated servers. The port from console looks just like that, they've hardly put any effort into it at all and the list goes on. If your looking to a sequal to Operation Flashpoint that is a war sim then obtain ARMA2 much better game play and less buggy (and also made by the same developers who created operation flashpoint).. Codemasters this was a really disappointing effort, lots of hype for a wholly unfinished, boaring buggy basicly unplayable game. STEAR CLEAR AT ALL COSTS.… Expand

Sadly I'm not impressed one bit with this game. It's just another run of the mill simulation style shooter. The fact that I've had team-mates die on me because my medic refused to heal them, well that's just disappointing. I've had on several occasions a team-mate bleeding against cover, call the order to heal wounded. What does the medic do? walk backwards and forwards to and from the wounded soldier. It seems to happen a lot around cover and trees. The AI needs plenty of work, the enemy soldiers are no exception. So far from approx 5 hours of play I've seen the enemy fire on me when I'm either hiding in long grass motionless, can't see the enemy through tree-lines, or even hiding inside buildings (again, motionless and in the dark.) If this is supposed to be a simulation type game, I'd maybe like the enemies to be simulations, rather than being up against Robocop. You better not like using the mouse scroll to view your weapons. As soon as you hit the scroll, you become immobilized and unable to turn. What am I doing when I use the mouse scroll? is my character running along then suddenly just stops and says "I wonder what equipment I have on me, oh I better check it right here on this spot even though I'm being fired upon from 360 degrees." Commands can be frustrating as hell, taking items from crates/soldiers is clumsy, and the general feel of the game isn't as smooth as I am running with 30kg of weight on my shoulders. Yeah I know it's a "simulation" but there are just things in it that make it not fun. There is and always will be a thing in games I like to call the Realism Ven Diagram. Think of it like this, make the game TOO realistic (like one bullet in the leg and all of a sudden you're immobilized and need your team mates to carry you, I can't imagine a soldier walking, let alone carrying that much equipment AND walking after he's been shot in the knee by a rifle, but let's not do that! that would ruin the game!) and you lose the aspect of it even being a game, it'd become boring, unplayable, just a task. If you take a successful game like the latest COD games (and I personally hate those, so I'm not being a fanboy) Imagine if they made it so you had to actually put your cross hair on the grenades to pick them up and throw them back, or better yet! take away the grenade indicator! If you were playing the game on high difficulties the main campaign would just be death after death after death after death. Sorry, that's war, live with it. Games that try to be realistic need to balance out the realism and the fun aspect so that people can actually pick up the game and start having fun right away. Yeah yeah yeah I know, a lot of people will say "It's a simulation! It's supposed to be like that!" I agree, it is a simulation, it IS supposed to be like that. What I don't like about this game is just bits and pieces, there are too many kinks in it at this current time. Call it constructive criticism. As far as I've seen so far, only 2 things save this game from the unplayable category. 1 - The game is realistic, it takes you to the front lines, throws dirt in your face, makes you feel like you're actually under enemy fire! 2 - The weapons and the vehicles are mechanically correct, they act very similar to their real life counter-parts. I do believe there is hope, I do believe this game has alot of potential. This game needs a patch or two to fix some of the problems, AI, managing weaponry, inventory etc. Until then I'll probably play it once or twice through, the game in my eyes is overall a playable simulation GAME, just not all the way there... yet.… Expand

Man.... I really don't know how to describe how disapointed i am with this game. So i'll just make a list! Bare in mind that I am an enourmous OFP fan, so obviously i expected a sequel...which is defenatly not what i got. - OFP had an incredibly good story line, OFP:DR has NO story line. Nothing at all! Just 6 missions in a row! - Campain short. Very very very very very very short. Easily finished within 5 hours. Which is pretty bad for a game in this price range. - Lots of options (driving tanks, flying attack helicopters, boats, laser guided air strikes, JDAM air strikes, artilery) All those options, and the campain ignores 50% of them. No tank missions, no heli missions, no laser guided air strikes, no APC missions... -no free look in trucks, helicopters, landing a plane is pretty much impossible (just like commanding an NPC to a direction which ain't directly in front of you) All in all. Definitely not worth the "Operation Flashpoint" name.… Expand

PC impressions: The campaign is short and boring and HEAVILY scripted, very predictable (repel enemy, conquer, prepare for enemy reinforcements all over again), you don't get to drive anything interesting (infantry "simulator", I know, but still..). Visuals like textures, model detail, terrain detail or visual distance are HEAVILY reduced for the game to be able to run smoothly on consoles (yet it's the same on PCs) and it is covered with overusing "fancy" post-processing effects, concealment like bushes disappears after you move from it a couple of meters (making anything hiding behind it exposed), most of the animations are weird. The 63 entity limit completely blows the expectation of a mil-sim (as this.. thing.. was marketed) as well as the pathetic MP player limits, play area limits and the sad maximum distance between players in coop. Very little MP maps, NO SINGLE MISSIONS (you're only able to repeat missions from the campaign). The keyboard controls are horrible, the radial command control is very unfriendly, the field of view is very narrow and thus makes you sick, it has no real balancing (the difficulty is the same on all levels, you just lose some HUD gizmos). The AI is bad, sometimes it spawns right before your very eyes, sometimes the enemy is looking at you but "isn' aware of your presence" until you shoot. This thing is in NO WAY a military simulator and NOT EVEN a tactical shooter. It doesn't come close to new ArmA series, new CoD series, new BF series... and not even the old Delta Force series.

Marketing this thing as a milsim and a successor to the original Operation Flashpoin was a baad move. I give it 3/10 - for the sounds of explosions, which were cool, and for a couple of laughs I had.… Expand

I just think CM didn't realy have enough time to finish this game. What can I say: Oh man, your tank will get damage if you hit a tree? M16 or Type 81 with a scope can shoot 1km away? Or the buggy looking explosion dust? At the beginning I thouth OFPDR must has a better engine than ArmA, now I can only tell that the phsical enging is ok, but others sucks. The game is a piece of crap. I don't recommend anyone buying it. Not even fanboys. But it has potential, unfortunately with over 10 years of experience from FPS games that potential will never be cashed in upon. It's not like ARMA, OPFLASH or GRAW. It's like the earlier Ghost Recon games but with updated graphics. I.e lots of retro design and aged gameplay. Unfortunately this game also suffers from an extreme amount of bugs and fact errors. It is on par with ARMA2 release, and almost Söldner. Completely useless for multiplayer. Console port is obvious in menus, it is unlikely they'll sidetrack it more. I can say this, it's the last game I'm buying from Codemasters that isn't a car game. They certainly know nothing about this FPS thing everyone is chatting about. Touch and feel is Colin Mcrae 3 + guns. Except vehicle handling takes the skiddy feeling of CM-games to an extreme. The vehicles flings around like you're sitting on top of a spring. AI has lots of flaws, and is best utilized as flanking bait for the enemy because they respawn whenever you reach a checkpoint. They're annoying as hell if they stick around and sometimes they treat you to a SMAW round in the back of the head... or whatever weaponry they currently equip.… Expand

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising has one problem. It's history. And they have failed to recreate that OpFlash feel, that only the original developer of the series could. First, Codemasters has deceived it's console users by stating "Open World Game Play". That couldn't be farther from the truth. It is restrictive, and you can't not explorer the island of skira, either by a mission box or timer. Graphics are poorly made textures, and even worse on the PS3 Version. At least the PC you can adjust and improve them. But all look pretty poor. 11 Missions seem the same. I don't know how AA sites you have to destroy. The AI is not dynamic. They do the same thing over and over again, so it takes no time to figure out where they will be. They one bright spot is the sounds. Very nice audio for the weapons. I gave it a 5 because, the game starts correctly, plays with few bugs, on the PS3. This is a good filler game, if your waiting for another game. Bargin Bin or Rental at best. MP is just a joke on the PC. No SADS, and it's peer to peer. Can't join in progress is another problem. MP feels very limited and thrown together at the last minute.… Expand

This game looks awful and has nothing to do with Operation Flashpoint. It doesn't even come close to a simulation. The GFX look bad! The textures are all blurry and all colours are green-brown / brown. It doens't support Joysticks.

Not the worst game I've ever played and definitely not the worst. Where this game falls down is that it was sold to the games playing public as a military simulator and many people but it thinking it is. However this is an arcade game masquerading as a milsim, I guess the bottom line is if your after a milsim buy Arma2 if you want a fun modern warfare game get COD4 you'll have a better time with both of these, and they even have a dedicated server rather than a poor excuse for a multiplayer which ships with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.… Expand

GLITCH GALORIE! Every time I beat a mission and decide im done playing it will make me start over from the end of mission 3 so single player blows online sucks because you can shoot someone 19 times in the chest watch blood spray everytime they shoot you once and you die lamesauce galore!

First things first: I am deducting a solid point, point and a half for the multiplayer side of things. CM have delivered a game with *no dedicated server* and horrible disconnect issues. If you like multiplayer gaming this isn't the game you are looking for. They have no intention of providing a dedicated server either so I anticipate this one being dead on it's feet inside of a couple of months. That aside it's a passable single-player/co-op game. It certainly has it's moments and if you pick it up for 20 quid or something it's possibly worth it. I've been regarding it more as a Ghost Recon sequel than an OFP sequel and taken like that it sort of works. The graphics are kind of ugly and blocky up close but seen at a distance it looks pretty decent and has very little in the way of slowdown even looking over an open field covered in smoke and exploding stuff. I suppose the 64 unit per map cap helps out here and the effects aren't that technically impressive. Taken together though, it is kind of cool advancing behind smokescreens from friendly artillery or sneaking around avoiding patrols with your thermal sight. Animations are a bit dodgy. They look weird in places and considering how much of a song and dance they made about making it all "as real as it gets" they've got a lot of stuff wrong. Sound design is basically competent although the guns sound kinda hollow and plasticy. It's especially noticable that the heavier calibre weapons lack boom. Voices are less robotic than ArmA2. The AI has some really nice touches (they pop smoke and run away :D ) but is kind of inconsistent in places. They've also toned their accuracy right down so they now shoot like Star Wars stormtroopers. The missions are mostly quite well thought out. Unlike the recent Ghost Recon games the recon team you play for half of the missions actually recon stuff and sneak around calling in airstrikes. The assaults actually feel assault-y in that you have friendly units backing you up. There's a few places where bugs or poor checkpoint placement had me punching the wall in frustration though. Also, there's only 11 missions and after you've played those, what then? Controls are a bit weak. It's obviously a console control scheme ported to PC. The command interface is clearly designed for d-pad. On PC you press a key to bring the menu up and then use the primary movement (ASWD) keys to give orders. It feels incredibly clumsy. Considering you have number, f- keys and a keypad on PC it seems like a poor choice. There's no lean keys... because the d-pad is being used for commands. Vehicle controls are laughably bad. Considering this is an engine developed for racing games the jeeps handle like hippos on rollerskates and the steering goes straight to full lock so you spend most of the time sliding/floating along above the ground. I should also say a word about them claiming this is the "true sequel" to Operation Flashpoint. It really isn't. It's much, much more limited in scope. It's really only about squad/fireteam sized infantry shootouts.… Expand

An average shooter but an extremely poor simulator. The good things: It's slightly more on the realistic side compared to the pure run-and-gun shooters, and the performance is good. Negatives: The realism they advertise just isn't there. Starting from extremely poor physics down to an invisible shield(!) that makes sure the AI won't hit you with their first shots, or if they're more than a few hundred meters away, and they have a very hard time hitting you even after that. Vehicle handling is an absolute joke, and there's not much to say on the flightmodel of helicopters(or the lack of one). Both friendly and enemy AI do a poor job at soldiering, and as already mentioned they can't hit the famous side of the barn. Weapons are very arcadish, and hitting targets at full auto is no problem.The good performance comes at the price of very outdated graphics, and for god knows why they've applied strange color filters everywhere. Nights aren't dark at all, but look like daytime with a blue filter. Other times the whole world is yellowish or greenish, but never natural. The SP campaign is short, easy, repeative and gets boring very soon. MP is severely limited and just doesn't function properly at the moment. Conclusion: Use your $40 on beer. The entertainment that results lasts longer and is of better quality.… Expand

The single player is great that is the only thing. The game totally lacks replayability as the AI is based on scripting and not actual logic. The multiplayer does not feature basic aspects that games made in 1998 have. No join in progress, no dedicated server, and rather small amount of people allowed, even for PC. Avoid this game until it hits your $5 bin since the only thing going for it is single player.… Expand

Needed 6 months more development. But as always we are given a game which is no more than a mere shadow of the hype and promises made by CM. Waste of money. Buy this game several months sown the line and it will be half price and hopefully fixed at least to the extent that its playable.

Ignore the rabid, almost certifiably crazy ArmA fans, this game is a very solid outing. It's MUCH more accessable than the ArmA games, while still offering a much more open and realistic experience than the CoD series. A must by for the person who was looking for that middle ground between CoD and ArmA (and who also never wanted to deal with ArmA's horrible bugs).

Brief Review: Graphic engine has potential, but was not used to its greatest capacity, we are in 2009, it is not graphic for 2009, 2d trees and grass, very poor texture (it's like Delta Force Xtreme). Singleplayer gameplay is without war atmosphere, stupid AI, map size is the only good thing, but in multiplayer you can use only 4 km square without dedicated server. Rubbish AI who can't hit the side of a barn and don't even appear to see you when close, vehicle physics are rubbish, 20 tons tanks find trees invincible. Corridored play ( no open dynamic world here ), unbelievabley broken MP with no dedicated servers for PC, constant disconnects when in game, no cd key authentication, no anticheat ( the game has already been hacked to bit';s and the leaderboards rendered pointless ). Maximum amount of entities in any one mission = 64 /= massive large scale feeling. How magazines rated this game highly is beyond me. Maybe they just didn't want to loose the advertising revenue. In conlusion - OPFDR is average in SP, completetly pants in MP. Overall it's a fail.… Expand

If this was called "dragon rising", released only to consoles circa 2005 or so it woulda been worth a niner. Carrying a nametag of Flaspoint, working like a badly made PC port of a console game of 2005 and being marketed as something better than original flashpoint, it is asking for a six. Singleplayer campaign is short, small-scale, and has no real vehicle combat. AI wont reach the level it needs, expecailly if vehicles are involved. controls are retarded, again highlighted when vehicles are involved. The MP is simply horrible, having released at alpha-stage claimed as"ready" and the entire game has a feeling of Beta-test in it. shame, really. and in SP, Immersion is shot in the leg by using NO means whatsoever to ride the storyline up ingame. do NOT be fooled by the name flashpoint in the game.… Expand

Codemasters manages to kill Operation Flashpoint series, and this Dragon Rising doesnt offer anything mentioned by the AD campaign. In nearly every case, it's all about FUD for next to nothing a finished product. It can be clearly compared with "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing".

Well, for a game carrying the name OFP it's a massive letdown, but even if it did not have this name, there are imho too many problems right now to give it a high rating. -Heavy aftificial limitations in mission design and so on (the freedom of OFP is nowhere to be found), multiplayer apart from 4 player COOP seems like an afterthought and it's doubtful that things will improve much (no dedicated server for example, CM's track record in patching...). Personally, the feeling of being there just isn't...there. The A.I. are terrible shots (and I mean it!), I hardly ever feel under pressure unless there's like 8 of those guys homing in on me. The player also seems to have some kind of bullet repelling shield, they will almost never hit you with their first magazine, distance hardly matters. Vehicle physics are from the Moon (seems like a low gravity environment), giving commands is ok (worthy of improvement though), graphics are ok too, nothing special (wish there were actually dark nights, but the giant moon just doesn't leave the sky), seems well optimised (oh, it's a plus!), campaign is generally forgettable, destruction of the environment is mediocre (trees can't be destroyed as huge downside)...and so on, you get the idea! Though it shows nicely that with a good PR department and buying lots of advertisement slots you can get any rating from reviewers you want. I don't think anyone of those actually touched the MP, or noticed that it's a step back from the original OFP: CWC in almost every aspect.… Expand

One bad thing about this game is that 32 player multiplayer doesnt really work too well. SP it is fantastic and the game has a brilliant gritty realism. Ive been having great fun playing co-op with my friends, and this is probably the best way to play it. I tried ARMA a couple of months ago, and this game is 10 times better. Youre in the action within minutes, and the game is generally bug free. It also runs like a dream on my system.… Expand

Very poor mulitplayer experience. Animation problems that get you killed 9/10 times. Bugs. Some of which disable mouse support in critical areas. I do not recommend this game for multiplayer or coop. Single player alone just doesn't save this game.

This is not a flashpoint 2, it's an arcade game, please dont buy it. I bought this game passed it in couple hours and deleted it, so just save your money for something else out ther, just get arma 2 or smth much better!

I never ever in my life wrote a review on any game, i guess it is my only chance, I'm sorry, but this game is really disappointed me, i was waiting for it for so long, since i played on my old pentium 4 and was 18 years old, spent huge ammount of money to change my whole system just to play that ofp resistence game with that 5km range of detalisation, long time ago, feels like it was yesterday, liked it very mutch since then, that filling of war reality hitting regular people, amazing story line, nothing comparing to that game is a 2nd part, unfortunate, I dont know what happend between bohemia interactive and codemasters, but i see now how it affected the new game, they were using that engine and they went very far from reality with dissapiering boddies, unneeded special effects, not reallistic textures of simple things like country roads, highways etc, night is super bright, feels like its a day exept rainy weather.. moon looks like some anime cartoon, seriously they ruined their great job with a lot of unnesesary things all they were talking about they ruined it with those stupid arcade like things, all sounds and all nice night lighting all were ruined, like your temmates reappiaring after their death... i would fire somebody from your team for that idia i'm sorry, that game supposed to be real, No stupid patroling the area missions.. no super long car driving to some far destination... Just make some civil missions without guns where you just walk all over that island.. omg i still have that feeling of huge disappointment.. Too short, where are Heli / Tank missions? Not possible to rearm before mission? Yeah, US soldier without scope vs. Enemy with scope, snipers, etc. The first thing I did was to kill enemy with any scoped weapon. In flashpoint 1 there were ambush missions, heli, tanks, APC. Oh! The AI of my team - great - give them orders and they won't use the road, even if it there's no enemies. In effect they get stuck in trees and other obstacles. Flashpoint 1 was a lot better.… Expand

This game is quite disappointing for me as a pc user. First off I cant get it to run on my XP64 at all, gladly there are already forum threads concerning that issue - sadly none of them got a solution ... . On the other hand I got it to install on Windows7 64bit Laptop and it actually works. However it is not possible to force it to run with the native resolution of the LCD so its all blurry. After several hours/days of trying to install and set up the game the way I would like it I had to resign and admit that the game and I are not compatible and that the game is way more persistent than I am. As for the few minutes I played this game with the settings I was forced to accept I have to say that it totally does not deliver what it promises graphically and technically.… Expand

Dull graphics (explosions, effects...), realism close to zero. Hardly bearable on console, at all on PC. It's just a run of the mill FPS, just a little worse than Battlefield 2. Shame on them (CM).

A design failure and an perfectly played marketing campaign. We were sold a completely different game and we have bitten hard. You can only fool us once CM!

To put all this as short and clear as possible, the game itself has all the great features to make a superb shooter, but blatantly poor developer decisions really impair this game. The decisions are baffling.. For example, you have this huge 250 km open world, and ideally your one set soldier that's part of one set squad roaming the open world taking out enemy defenses and any objectives that are radio'd in by HQ, but the developers decided rather than that they just load you up as random soldiers in different parts of the map for each of 11 missions. The objectives are in the general area you're loaded into, rarely do you travel over a kilometer, so you NEVER get immersed. You load in complete an objective and then you're a new guy in a new place that has to do an objective in that place. Also, you have NO say in your class/loadout. I like beinga sniper, but no, the game makes me a rifleman in every mission I've done so far and you have no choice in what equipment you want to role out with. The MP is practically the same deal.. you all race to pick a class that the next guy didn't already take and I've never got to play as a sniper yet in mp. These aren't things that just feel through with limitations, the developers has all the ingredients set out and just used them all wrong. I really don't understand it.… Expand

Consolitis. There's a nice game in here but it sure does suffer from a bad case of consolitis. The entire multiplayer part of this game screams console game, and that's a very bad thing. There are no dedicated servers, you can't join games in progress, the loadout selection menu is very unfriendly, and even the game's menus which you are forced to repeatedly navigate to play multiplayer games is slow and demands you press enter key instead of clicking too often. All that said there is some real potential with this game. It's main competitor is ArmA2. There are some parts of the game that are better than ArmA2 and some definitely that are worse. The sounds are definitely better in OF:DR than ArmA2. Much better. Game performance is also much better. The game is GPU bound, not requiring much nearly as much CPU as ArmA2. Also I'd say the game is far less buggy than ArmA2 on release, but there are bugs to be found. The single player game, what I've played of it so far, seems decent. My impression is the AI is decent or even nice to play against. This is not a twitch shooter like CoD. You'll need to take a steady aim and the gameplay isn't along narrow corridors. Some people are comparing this to BF2 but it really isn't like BF2 much at all. BF2 is much better for what it does, PvP and BF2 has a great client/server system which OF:DR does not. Also BF2 isn't a sandbox milsim. For you BF2 players out there, stick with BF2 for PvP, it's far better for that. And Project Reality mod for BF2 is in no danger from OF:DR. OF:DR is a terrible PvP game because it lacks dedicated servers and also because the consolitis interface. Really, don't even think of this game as being similar to BF2. It isn't. BF2 does urban settings far far better than this game. Is this game worth retail price of $40? It depends on what you want and how attached to the money you are. If you are OK with enjoying OF:DR for 10 or 20 hours and then putting it aside, go ahead and buy the game. I highly doubt without real servers that this game will offer you or almost anyone much replay value.… Expand

Out wit the enemy, not out rush. This is how OPF2 plays. The game is all about achieving the objectives and doing so without loosing your assets (teammates, other allies). You have to be efficient and prioritize. Instead of rushing a SAM missilie objective in order to destroy it, flank you team left. You should then flank right and sneak up behind the opposition that is engaged with your team. Drop your charges and scramble out. BOOM. Objective destroyed, withdraw your team.
