  1. Combines a solid interface with an intriguing storyline. In addition, the multiplayer options make Outlive stand above its competitors.
  2. Poor graphics and sound have their good side as well - the game will run smoothly on older machines, regardless of the number of units appearing on screen, and loading and saving games is as fast as it can get.
  3. Technically correct but uninspired, unbalanced, and lacking in some production values.

Won't win any awards for innovation, but it may be worth playing through if StarCraft has lost its challenge.
  5. Most notable is what Outlive doesn't incorporate--every innovation since 1998. No burrowing or stealth units, no unit experience carryover, no 3D battlefield or units, no unique units.
  6. The real-time strategy genre currently has many excellent games available to satisfy a lot of specific kinds of preferences. With so many games to choose from, it makes little sense to revisit three-year-old concepts.
  7. Enough "StarCraft" clones. Stop the madness and offer some innovation. [June 2001, p.62]
  8. They've apparently tried to recapture the magic of "StarCraft," but in this case the spell has fizzled.

A great game! The two sides differ in units, have their own unit specials. Decent graphics, wonderful interface and great gameplay. A definite for RTS Lovers. Full Review »
