I first played this game when I was rather young. I still come back to it, and use it as a comparison for other games. At heart, it is really a city builder, but It has many 4x components and plays much like a classic RTS. The research mechanic is still the best I have seen in any game. The game play is easy to learn and gains complexity beautifully as the game progresses. The graphics have aged well, although noticeably older I wouldn't call them ugly. There is no music, but the sound effects develop their own rhythm after a while The controls are simple, a mouse will do the trick but hot keys are also available. Has surprisingly good online play for such an early game, after over a decade there is still a fairly dedicated community.Overall a very memorable game, essential to the genre. Expand

A classic but underrated game that expertly mixed city building with RTS elements. The game has a nice balance between complexity and ease of play. It is still one of my favorite strategy games of all time. Expand
