While it might have benefitted with a cool story arc for a single player mode the game offers a great outing with 3 other friends for an experience that will keep having you come back for more. Payday is simply put the improved, polished and closest experience you’ll find to robbing an actual bank. It’s just legal.
Aug 18, 2013As it stands right now, Payday 2, while it won’t be for everyone, is a lot of fun. Although the stealth mechanics are basic, there’s enough strategic depth and teamwork required so that stealthing missions can be challenging, and extremely satisfying when successful.
Aug 26, 2013The bottom line is that I’m complaining because the action, the gunplay, the visuals, the demanding teamwork, the ultimate sense of gratification from leveling up and mastering the levels are all pretty much unparalleled, even if they could have been situated into a better gameplay structure. Payday 2 is a wonderful shooter that stands alone in a genre full of me-toos, wanna-bes, and coulda-beens.

More dynamic events keep things fresh, and if a shootout becomes forced, there's less a feeling of "there's a million cops out there and they all have ridiculous amounts of HP." Dec 17, 2013i have played on this a lot. I find it addictive. the combat its very well produced and feel just right. The music is very funky and cool and it never felt so right taking hostages to hamper police progress.
when the police do come they come harder depending on how many hostages you have amassed but take long between swat assaults as they negotiate longer. if you shoot to may civilians they send in special hostage rescue units that are armored and a pain in the bum.
The maps i personally feel are very good and really in keeping with the genre which is really in a league of its own. Although there are not a massive amount of jobs, they feel right, snatching jewelry and stuffing it in a rucksack while in an intense police standoff feels so exilirating and they have the atmosphere just right.
The map dlc's are good, but my one consern is paying for content like guns without additional maps. that takes no effort in part from the dev team and is aimed at empying your wallet primarily, shame on you.
other than the obvious money grab. the game is really good and you wont be able to stop playing it once it bites you.… Expand
Aug 17, 2013The game is a huge improvement on the original Payday: The Heist. It plays well and most of the missions allow stealth as an alternative to shooting, which is great. There are a few things that bother me, though. Guards sometimes seem to have eyes on their backs, the online play has synchronization issues between players and enemy hit-boxes don't quite match up with their model while an animation, such as staggering, is being played on them.
The guns seem pretty generic, but there are some that are very enjoyable to use. The ability to take a saw as your primary weapon and grab a submachine gun to go with it as secondary is awesome. Some guns lack the feeling that they actually deal damage because of their sound. Weapons can be customized to a great degree from silencers and sights to stocks and barrels. Almost anything you would customize in your favorite weapon, you can, except for visuals.
Mask customization is a big part of the game, too. After each successful job, you get a payday that consists of money, experience and a card draw. From this card you can get masks, weapon parts, money, materials, patterns and colors. Materials and patterns can be put on your mask and colors can be used to further customize the patterns. I would criticize the developer for the fact that you can only customize a mask once, but it adds to the longevity of the game. Once you have finalized your customization, you need to acquire the same mask again to switch a pattern or material, or both.
Unlockable abilities are a great mixture of something you would expect and things that aren't found in most games of its kind. There are many things that they kept from the original game, but also many that are totally new to the series.… Expand
Aug 23, 2013The game did not ship with all of its promised features and constant updates of over 800 megabytes make it impossible to adapt to the game. Until Overkill can flesh out the undeniable problems that were both present in the beta and not fixed for the finished game.
PC players of the game are facing poor support from Overkill who refuse to acknowledge to "17 Heists, 30 Stages" promise, safehouse customization, and more. Instead, the developer would rather make certain officers even more difficult to kill and release an update that broke multiplayer.
In addition to these technical flaws, Overkill still has not made a singeplayer mode that is playable. In fact, a recent update made it even more difficult than it already was. Instead of a full team of four, you get two AIs. In addition to the smaller team, the AI cannot pick up loot bags (which the police can), open safes, steal generic loot, place bags, or use any semblance of intelligence to assist you. This state of "offline mode" is completely criminal, especially since the Multiplayer seems to be broken on a regular basis.
Even after all of that, the game still manages to entertain some vague aspects of cooperative play. You can coordinate with you team, capture hostages, and actually orchestrate the heist.
However, in the games current state and Overkill's attitude towards development, it will be an accomplishment if they can finish the game and fulfill the promises they made to their fans- even more so if the game can be stabilized.… Expand

- The engine is crap
- There are way to many bugs
- The mods for the weapons are way too expensive (200k for a bigger magazine? I don't think so)
- Nonsense limitations like you can only carry 8 ties or 1 body bag
- You can get randomly kicked by the hoster
- Affords way to much time to reach the max. level (Up to 120h)
- You can solo just a few Missions
- Offshore account... It's useless if you don't waste your whole life playing this game
- The connection to the hoster can be such bad even if you put in the filter Region: Near. You can lose the connection in the middle of the mission. And sometime you're not even able to join lobbys because the producers of Payday 2 are making more useless and way to exepensive DLC's.
